@Jay-it3ze honestly that’s not the biggest problem. No underpaid is my problem. It doesn’t matter if it already has one attached. That’s not good enough. It will creak and crack when you walk on it, and will rot the floor underneath because it’s no moisture barrier in between. I’m no professional but I’ve done a ton of research on it and I feel confident I can do it. I’m waiting on my flooring to be ready now.
A 11+ years flooring installer here. First check the flooring moisture. Use a floor grinder to smooth a little bit the wood subfloor. Use Planipatch to level the flooring ☑️Use a Moisture barrier. And get -Flooring spacer- just bc the floor "expands and contracts all the time.
gonna fly through any left over boards with all the pops your going to get, CLEAN THE FLOOR FIRST! can see your the type to disappear after the work is "done"
I try to scrape staples and sweep first at least dang. My stagger is at least the width of the plank. You get a repetitive noticeable pattern with the simple 3 plank stagger, I try and do more random stagger not so noticeable to the eye. I lay plank and carpet everyday though and stick to my liking 😊
If you watch closely you'll see a black underlayment on the planks, they come with it pre attached so you don't have to lay anything out ahead of time. Btw don't use this guy's video as a guide he's making a ton of mistakes. I'm no expert but I can clearly see some glaring issues with his methods
Is it cheap to put in vinyl or laminate in your house? I guess because the planks feel so fluffy it turns me off. I tried the hybrid, life proof and them debating to go back since they’re solid plane. Any suggestions?
@samrosthstein6385 recycled plastic garbage, easily damaged, hard to repair. Hardwood stands the test of time, adds value to a house and It takes actual skill to install.
I see sooooo many people putting in small pieces like that in the end. DO NOT DO THIS! You want your end piece to be no less than 12” some people say 8 is ok but from personal experience 12 is the minimum IMO.
@@TheMsquante They’re old and outdated. LVP’s are the way to go. Although I was mainly referring to the installer who’s covering up the old hardwoods. Such a lazy way to do it
Why do these comments pretend like the flooring equivalent of legos is some complicated thing? You could half ass some vinyl plank flooring and it still he alright 😂 This is similar to the dudes that have made pressure washing into a complicated profession
Honestly bro we are going to have to agree to disagree on your last comment. I done seen some jokers not even run flooring under door jamb. They just notched the flooring to butt up to it and caulk it and that’s a big no no. This kinda work isn’t for everybody. It’s not just about the money that you can make doing this, at the end of the day it’s about doing it right. I’ve seen plenty of things that people have done that they should be abolished from this field for. We take this work serious over here and I like a lot of elbow room and it’s not enough room for people that are playing doing this
Am I the only one bothered by all the debris the first piece went in over? I am getting ready to do this but haven't done it yet so someone please tell me that doesn't matter? I won't be hearing the crunch of debris chunks under the floor as I walk over the flooring?
No make sure your floor is completely clean before install. Hearing debris crunch as you walk is one thing, have to replace a piece cuz you didnt take the time to clean underneath is a whole different problem you dont want to have
Should start your second row, where your first row ends. Then work to your left. All your cuts would not be on the same end then. 1st row left to right 2nd row right to left So on

Workman’s comp. Unemployment insurance Bond insurance etc. not cheap. But remember what you pay is what you get.
0% effort used in cleaning the floor. 0.0mm underlayment. 0 wall spacers I feel sorry for whoever owns this in 5 years. I rather resurface the plywood underneath than have something half done.
0-prep Rookie stair step. Cutting with carpet knife. Dust, dirt, debris everywhere. Calling yourself a professional flooring installer is an insult to real installers.
Full half then quarter for the first three rows….gonna look so unnatural and isn’t going to sit well considering you didn’t even clean the subfloor or use underlayment this should be deleted so people don’t follow this
