How to Install Wheel Locks to Prevent Theft 

My tires were stolen, I never knew about wheel locks till now. I'm about to install them. Thank you!

BTW, for a Toyota sedan like this the torque spec is around 76-80 foot pounds, which actually is much less than putting your body weight down on a wrench of that length.

Use whatever it takes to get the wheel nut *off* but it's worth trying to only use the tools you carry in the car to tighten it back up again. If you need to change the tyre when away from base that's what you'll have with you, not the nice big beefy stuff hanging on your garage wall. And be very careful bouncing on a standard toolkit wheel wrench with your whole body weight like that. I once managed to break one doing just that - the shaft was fine, it was the nut ring that split. And yes, it was torrential rain at the time, so carry a coat too. Fortunately there was a guy working on a wagon in his workshop about ¼ mile down the hill who was able to sort me out with a decent spanner.

Someone I know just had all 4 tires stolen and they had anti theft locks on them too.

locking bolts on steel wheels...seriously?

Since its just 1 of 5 lug nuts being replaced, is there any point in torquing the other nuts?

Don't you need to jack up the car, just like when you are installing the spare tire?

So I don’t have any tools myself as I live in the barracks. Where would I be able to get this done? Like would a mechanic or tire shop be able to do this for me? I drive a 2020 Honda Accord Sport which the wheels are a big target for thefts from what I’ve read.

I decided to pay the premium for the factory locks after watching this one.

All we have to do now is stop them stealing the hub caps.

Just fyi to anyone watching this those mcguard locks are not good! They’re easy to bypass. Get gorilla spinning locks instead.
