try to press some times on Option button on moment of loading the mac os , in time when you will see the Apple logo and there sloud be option to load from your external ssd.
did not work for me...i suggest you start using screen recording and zoom in because it is difficult to see what steps you are doing...i got a blue screen...also you didnt explain about formatting and whether you need to have windows already installed on your internal drive or not...im using MB 2015 and win 11 is installed through bootcamp...now i have an external SSD and just cant seem to get it installed ...i tried to clone it but blue screen
after successfully cloning the partitions to the external drive, i can see the drive connected when i look in finder, but when i go to select the startup disk, it's not showing up there. EDIT: after holding options when booting up my mac, i can see the external drive labeled EFI Boot, but when i boot into windows that way, i get a blue screen and it tells me inaccessible boot drive.

Went into recovery mode and everything is as open to externals as it can be, still no boot device showing and booting via option on start only shows efi device which crashes on startup. Pls help me mate, I really am getting agitated by now…

Unforunaty you can,t have a Windows on an external drive with Mac os on it.As i say above Windows10 did not work as a external drive.I have no idea why i it would not it would not boot to Windows ,even the internel Windows failed to boot back to Mac..It is a shame my internel drive is only 256.I might delete the internal drive and start fresh on there and try it again.There is very little space on it when i gave the Windows 50gb.
Works on a MacBook Pro 2016, but don't change the size of the bootcamp partition prior to booting successful the USB-drive, after that you can extend the Bootcamp-Partition to the wohle SSD. Prior to clonig you have to change two registry edits using RegEdit Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\: Under HardwareConfig Click on entry with a bunch of numbers (Its a UUID) and change BootDriverFlags to 14 in hexadecimal. Under MountedDevices delete all entries, then delete MountedDevices complete. Worked for me.
Hi Roberto Thanks for the video, it is real good. Can I use an external Thunderbolt SSD drive? I have a SanDisk Pro - G40 SSD at 1TB. This is the latest Thunderbolt version, I think? My IMAC will not recognize it after I have gone through all of the steps you say? I am using IMAC 2018 version, with Ventura and 24G system RAM, 3.5GHZ, 27" Monitor, and 1 TB fusion drive. My Mac will still boot up from the Bootcamp -( Windows 10 ) on its own disk. Boot camp (Windows) will SEE the drive as a 40G, even though it is 1TB. When I try to boot up the external drive from IMAC it does not see the drive? Any ideas, I would be extremely grateful? Thanks Keith
@@tobychen8832 I put a samsung 980 on an external drive in an OASIS TP34 case - Windows 11. Unfortunately, IMAC 2020 sees Windows 11 only through the usbc port. With this connection, you can work. But the speed is limited by the usbc port. If I connect the thunderbolt - thunderbolt, then the imac no longer sees efi, but windows sees it, and the system no longer boots. With the OROCO case, the same thing.
Bro ur so chill. I’m losing sleep on my iMac 2020 refurb unit I just got. It only has 512gb internal storage which is not a problem. But My old iMac 2013 has sata connectors for internal SSD. And i managed to install 2TB Samsung SSD internally. And it just worked perfect! But this 2020 iMac is a different story. I planned on upgrading the internal to a 2 TB SSD. But there’s no sata connectors nor a NVme socket. Also installing Big Sur on external SSD comes back with errors after installation and won’t boot from external SSD! So I will attempt this now. 😩

I tried to use Macrium Reflect but it doesn’t works. I chosse my intenso 1TB ssd clicked on continue and again. After that it shows me that the partition can’t make smaller. “bootcamp (c) has a NTFTS MFT Record size, that is smaller then the sector size of the drive“ (my external ssd?)
unfortunately Bootcamp (the software that Mac uses to install and run Windows) does not work with M1 Macs and there is no commercial licenses allowed for Windows ARM. Your best option would be to run a Virtual Machine and install windows through it (Crossover or Parellels are the best options but there is still a lot of software and games that just will not run properly).

I have a question... Can I partition the SSD and use one of the partitions to install Windows 11? Like I have 1T SSD AND I only want to use 100GB FOR windows 11, is it possible?
You press „clone this disk…“, „select a disk to clone to…“, choose your external SSD. Press „erase disk“. Then here is the trick: under „copy partitions“ there are two settings. Choose „shrink or extend to fill the target disk“. Good luck :D
I can boot from the external SSD fine, but as soon as I remove the bootcamp partition I'm stuck in an endless Windows bootloop that automatically goes into Automatic Repair Mode (which fixes nothing). Anybody has any solutions?
So sad. I am having this error on the GeForce 58310 graphics card and my M6 AppleBook Professional. When connecting to the external monitor, it flashes with error saying to downgrade my software to Doors 11. Help

This doesn’t work, windows fails to boot from the external drive, looks like everyone has the same issue. MacOS T2 security is set to allow boot from external drive but windows 10 boot up fails :( Looks like Jorge ignores the comments, might as well delete this video as for most it’s useless.

Same question. In the video, the author seems use TB3 drive( I see the lighting logo.), however, it is show as a yellow drive symbol. In my tries, the TB3 will show white symbol, the same as internal drive. I am also trying to deploy win to go on TB3 ssd for my MBP 13'' 2020 intel chip. However, there is no luck for me. Can't get it to install on external drive on Intel MacBook Pro. Says it can't determine if my system is compatible. I am guessing that something about this being on an external drive is the problem? But I'm not sure. Anyone else encounter this and have a solution?
Having an issue- Macrium is not cloning a bootable disk. Same sizes, but the Bootcamp drive just says basic data partition instead of Boot, Page File, Crash, Basic Data Partition. Any tips?
There are options for M1 Macs, like Parallels or Crossover, although I would recommend Parallels since it may be unclear how to use Crossover. So, you can start by going to the Parallels website: www.parallels.com/products/desktop/trial/ Next, click on download now if you want the free trial, which I would recommend using if you are planning to buy it, but it does cost a lot. Once you start the download, the directions will already be on Parallels and you can follow them until you reach the windows page! Hopefully, this reply helped you get it or at least cleared up some things about your question.

I have a iMac 21.5" 2019, I followed every step but for some reason, after copying the bootcamp installation on the SSD and rebooting my mac to check if windows works on the SSD, it reboots on macOS! and everytime I try to reboot it from the SSD it goes on macOS! also, it doesn't let me manage the space from Macrium reflect Can someone help me?
Reboot into Recovery Mode (hold cmd+R until a loading bar appears), enter your user data and password, from the toolbar select Startup Security and make sure that booting from external media is allowed and that the security is at the lowest option (no security I think). Restart then and hold opt when booting to get the boot selector.
It depends on which processer/chip the MacBook has, and if you're not sure click the apple icon in the top of yout desktop, click about this mac, and check if it says "m1" anywhere. If it does, then you can do this sort of a thing, but you will need a paid external thing like Parallels for mac, which is not reliable if you are looking to download big apps, but works fast and well and is fine other than the pricey payments. But if your computer says "intel", meaning it is an intel-based mac, you can pretty much follow the steps in the video. Hopefully, this reply helped you!
did the process twice... once I came back to macOS... cloned SSD says "not mounted" and does not appear on Startup Disk options. when trying to mount... receive error: 53249. Any ideas?
@@facivsbigal you restart and when the screen goes black, hold command key and r. Then when it says “Select an admin user you know the password for,” you click on a user and enter the password. Then in the top left, near the apple logo you will see recovery, next to that there is file, and edit. Next to edit, there is utilities. Click on utilities and click “Startup Security Utility.” Then you click enter macOS password and enter the admin password for a user you know. Then click enter and click no security and allow booting from external or removable media.
Good video ,but unfiunatly even getting Windows 10 on a external drive did not work.I looked in the bootcamp app and it just had the intrtnal bootcamp.I could not even get it to log back inro MAC.I will have to srick with Jeffs video it is a long winded way to do it thiugh.I tried it your way on two different drives.I am using a 2017 imac.Your videos are good i have watch them fot some years now.

If you have no space (or a little bit of space which is what I'm assuming you meant) on your MacBook, then you can't download Windows, since even putting it on the external drive requires you to first download it on the MacBook and then transfer it onto the external drive like on the video. You could try freeing up space you want, keep in mind that you probably need roughly 25 - 30 GB just to be safe, but try to do it above 20 also if you can't get to 25. If none of this is possible, I don't think there is another way to do it. Hopefully, this reply helped!

Could you share how did you make it work? And on what Mac? I've been struggling and cannot get my thunderbolt ssd detected by Bootcamp Windows to be able to clone the OS. Mine is 15" MacBook Pro 2019.
@@GrahamEdwards Actually it would, and I know because I just downloaded it with Monterey and it works, I think you're getting confused with the fact that Intel-based Macs can only run Windows using that app.
