Installing XAMPP on your laptop is a straightforward process. XAMPP is a free and open-source cross-platform web server solution stack package developed by Apache Friends, consisting mainly of the Apache HTTP Server, MariaDB database, and interpreters for scripts written in the PHP and Perl programming languages.
Here are the steps to install XAMPP on your laptop:
Step 1: Download XAMPP
Visit the XAMPP download page: Open your web browser and go to the XAMPP download page.
Choose your operating system: Select the version of XAMPP that is compatible with your operating system (Windows, Linux, or macOS).
Download the installer: Click on the download button to download the XAMPP installer for your OS.
Step 2: Install XAMPP
For Windows:
Run the installer: Once the download is complete, open the installer file (usually named something like xampp-windows-x64-8.1.6-0-VC15-installer.exe).
User Account Control (UAC): If prompted by the User Account Control, click "Yes" to allow the installer to make changes to your device.
Welcome screen: The XAMPP Setup Wizard will open. Click "Next" to proceed.
Select components: Choose the components you want to install. The default selection is usually fine for most users. Click "Next" when you’re ready.
Installation folder: Choose the folder where you want to install XAMPP (the default is C:\xampp). Click "Next."
Bitnami for XAMPP: You may be asked to install Bitnami for XAMPP. This is optional and can be skipped if not needed.
Ready to install: Click "Next" to begin the installation process. This may take a few minutes.
Finish installation: Once the installation is complete, you will see a completion screen. Ensure the option to start the XAMPP Control Panel is checked, then click "Finish."
For macOS:
Run the installer: Once the download is complete, open the .dmg file you downloaded.
Drag and drop: Drag the XAMPP folder into your Applications folder.
Open XAMPP: Go to your Applications folder and open the XAMPP folder. Double-click the "manager-osx" application to start XAMPP.
Enter your password: You may need to enter your admin password to allow the application to make changes.
For Linux:
Open Terminal: Open a terminal window.
Navigate to the downloaded file: Use the cd command to navigate to the directory where the downloaded installer is located. For example:
