Thanks! Replacing the power supply totally worked! Keep it organized! I used the suction cups from a sink sponge holder. Also found on shower racks. The website has not had the power supply in Stock for a while. Bought mine on eBay with the part number provided.

how you know if you need to replace the Power Supply on your iMaci have a iMac 20" 2.66 GHz (EMC No. 2210) but yesterday the power went out in my apartment. But i tried to turn my Imac back on and wont turn on anymore.

Followed instructions to a tee and turned back in and it worked!! However, now the screen is black and I'm not sure why, but there is power. I'm sure I plugged everything back correctly. Any suggestions?

Hello MJ, Excellent Videos, Subscribed! Would it be possible to do a video on a 2011 Mac Book Pro! Took ours'in for repair because the mouse kept moving all around the screen. Trackpad will work...then not work...then work ... Apple said that they couldn't touch the mac book due to signs of liquid damage. The Mac book still works but it keeps having issues that seem to change Air Port will go in and out....USB Slots will work then stop working. Also things are missing like key chain, Thanks

My iMac starts to want to power up and then the fans stop spinning obviously not finishing the startup sequence... is this a power supply? Or could it be the actual switch?

hi, my imacs' power supply gets really hot (up to 95°C or 203°F) and puts itself to sleep then. im thinking of replacing it, but only if its definitive the power supplies' fault. could it be, that there is just a fan not working properly? i tested with smcfancontrol and powered em all up.. its quite noisy, but the temperature of the power supply never drops below 70°C... what do you think?

I had an APC battery backup go out. My iMac was asleep at the time and went out. Now it will not respond to the power button. I am hoping that either the power button or the power supply is the issue.

hi i may need your help i have an imac 20" mid 2007 The power button didn't work neither, nothing happened. I opened the machine, and played with the diagnostic LEDs. What I happen is somewhat weird (I think). The first-left LED gets on on plugging the AC cord, After 3 or 4 seconds, all the LEDs flash and then… nothing, strictly nothing. what is your take on this .. thank you

08 IMac Intel 24" , Durring recent repair As I started putting everything backj together I noticed I pulled part of the Microphone wires out. If you follow from the camera itself, you have a black wire that leads up to a connector that has tape around it. Off this connector is a white protective sheath with two very small wires coming out of it. I have no idea where to put these back.. Were they just tapped to the underside of the front bezel....I can't figure out where they go. +-

classicdell Galaxy Mac Hardware is another alternative (www.galaxyhp.com/) perhaps. I just purchased one for a iMac 24" (EMC 2211). Prices look good. I'm just hoping that the power supply is in fact the crux of the problem and it is not a logic board issue.

No problem. Mine came in on Jan 8 and only took about 30 min to install (as I had already disassembled and removed the old and simply left the LCD out of the iMac until the new part was in). Worked like a charm. You may find that it looks different from the original. Mine original had heat sinks along the left edge, but the new one did not. Instead, the packaging had a rubber bumper to channel the air from the fan from the gap (where the heat sinks used to be) back under the rest of the power supply. I got an iMac 21,5" 2011. Yesterday the screen shut off with no warning and I could smell something burning. ( !! ). I tried the usual ( disconnect everything, wait, reconnect, etc etc... ): pitch black and no noise. Drove to official Apple retailer: 40,00€ to take the machine in. 24hrs later my doubts are confirmed: PSU burned. Repair/replacement will cost 185,00€. All in all I strongly advise everyone to buy the Apple Care for 3 yrs. Further question: how does this thing happens? I mean, the PSU burning.

Hey, I need help. By mistake I unplugged my iMac while it was on sleep, and now when I want to log in, it logs in fine, but it then logs off immediately everytime I log in. I cant use the search or anything on the top bar, and it logs off so quickly it doesnt give me time to run disk utility or anything. Do you know where the problem is? Is it the battery supply or a software problem? Thanks! :D

@@jamkillumi I have the APPLE iMac A1224, after taking the screen apart and cleaning all the dust I replaced the power unit and it's working. It does however make a strange noise now and again which it never use to but it's solved my problem

the 4 screws at the bottom of the screen are longer than the other screws. so they go back in the same place. FYI

What if I don't want to replace the whole power supply. Is it possible to just replace the faulty components on the power supply? That's even cheaper.

While the parts are going to be cheaper, it's generally not worth it when you consider the time required to manually repair it.

@ 53 she says: if you don't see the EMC number go to the website to id your imac and guess what the website wants to know you EMC number! So if your EMC number has been lost then you need to take you imac apart and bing the serial number that is on your power supply.

a word of advice. while poking around your unit to see if you can see any visible traces of damgage etc make sure you get off the mains. I kissed my psu board with prescion screw drive and pop sizzle a $50.00 learning lesson! Also, not be be a nit pic but when she says the caps still holds Voltage she means charge, as capacitance is defied as C=Q/V, where Q is charge in coulombs and voltage is the rating the caps are designed to be able to handle.

what screws are used for the power supply mount. there are 4 screw mounts...i guess i can just go back and eliminate all the ones, like the 4 long ones from the bottom are obvious etc etc. Also, if your based in metro Atlanta I have several parts if you would like to purchase. I also charge a nominal fee if you dont feel like you are up to doing it yourself (sorry for the shameless plug but I would like to clear out some inventory)
