What's nice with introducing baby rats is typically they just want to be friends with everyone so you mostly just need to worry about your adult rats being butts. Hopefully soon enough they'll all be happily cuddling together.
It's so interesting to see other people's rat introductions! I'm not a professional chaos potato handler, but with the two introductions I've done (the first was 3 girls and 1 boy, the second was 3/1 and 2 girls) it never went the way I thought it would. The first one I was trying to separate the rats in a small apartment, and my girls just hopped over the blockades and adopted the boy (through the bars). Within a week they were having super-supervised play visits (all were intact and we didn't need rat babies!) and got along swimmingly. By the time he was neutered and recovered, it was like we always had four rats. Meanwhile, when I introduced the two new girls (coworker had to give them up), it was absolute chaos. One of them tried to power groom my boy rat who was easily twice as big as her and he would just suplex her into submission just for her to try again. This went one for two months. The other one just climbed up their cage and I don't think they noticed her for a long time. Can't wait to see how your three come together! Good luck and I hope for smooth potato mingling!
Definitely always be careful with introductions, especially when one rat is much bigger than the other... It only takes a second for a fatal accident to happen.
True, that's why I personally avoid putting 2 cages together. If rats can smell and see the newcomers but can't touch them it CAN frustrate them and they CAN feel enraged by this and take that stress out on the newcomer when they are put together. Many people use the method in this video, and it's not wrong, as being said there are many ways to introduce rats and people should do what they think is best, but it's one of the more dangerous methods I believe. I prefer the carrier method (plenty vids about that too luckily) And a personal tip; Vanilla esscence, so they all have the same scent and accepting the newcomers is easier. Nothing is risk free, but intro's are often necassary. (AND if possible, always get 2 babies, rats thrive with a same age friend)
thank you for spreading the word about how wrongly rats are represented! i love my rats so much and people always think im crazy for owning them, and then i just show them this channel and some of the videos, and it usually changes their minds! Thank you so much.
Watching your videos has made me seriously consider getting some rats as pets. I'm not able to get them right now since I'm at college and can't have pets in the dorms but I'm very likely to get some in the future. My family has a couple of ferrets at home. Like rats, they do better with other ferrets and they are a lot of fun. After watching these rats, I'm realizing that I really like having small rodents as pets. I've had hamsters, mice, ferrets, and rabbits as pets and I'm considering guinea pigs and rats now.
If anyone ever wants to to get ferrets as pets, it's always best to have a ferret safe room in your house where you can just let them run free and play for a few hours. Make sure the room is escape-proof. Ferrets are little escape artists. They like hiding to fall asleep in he warmest places and they're very mischievous. They love to play nip. For most ferrets you will be able to tell the difference between a bite and a play nip. If a ferret bites you, grab their scruff and ferret hiss at them. Sometimes you have to shake them by their scruff but not to aggressively.
Omg i have 2 little fat guinea pigs RN- you should consider them! Guinea a very sweet little animals and if they love enough they act just like rats and dogs with licking you
@@itsfluffy_bunni3s I have considered them. Rn I'm torn between rats, guinea pigs, and rabbits. I've had rabbits before but they were more family pets. I kinda want a rabbit(s) of my own
ferrets aren't rodents, please don't lump them together! it's really harmful to ferrets who are true carnivores and people end up adopting them thinking they'll be like rodents...
My chickens have a pecking order Daisy is leader and watches pack in and out of coup and leads them and if she away Dinah leads them to find here and Nate is the smallest and over all is very clingy with Daisy and follows her closely
I’m watching your videos as I’m introducing rats for the first time in a couple of weeks, very informative and also hilarious with the voice overs 😂 made me belly laugh
As someone with 2 cats that occasionally boop noses as a greeting, it's adorable to find out rats do the same thing. Now, I'm wondering how many animals greet each other with Eskimo kisses.
It's so funny because my three rats, all look EXACTLY like yours, even the young one who's white and brown. My white one was also a dominant female, and my black and white one was the lazy pasta brained one 😂
Am I the only one who noticed that when Cin said "Great, now you can help us promote our feminist agenda!" it was a direct reference to when someone accused you of 'using rats to promote your feminist agenda'- Other than that, Cin just straight up mocked that commenter lmao
wish i had this vid when i had to introduce one singular new rat to 3 rats that came together as a triplet, they fought so much and it took so long for them to get remotely along
Also my intro with Ophelia went really well. Custard was a butt twice and Vanilla bean had to establish dominance. Little Tio loves Ophelia. Now they all cuddle
Ive seen some hilarious introductions. I alway have males and the youngsters stand up big and the old buck will slowly walk out and push him down like chill dude dad will bring us treats in a minute. LOL
I have decided that when one of your rats is super hype they are now to be referred to as being "absolutely Boggled" on account of the eye ball wiggling they re known to do :)
I had Guinea pigs as a kid. when one died and I added a new one, I used my mom's perfume on all Guinea pigs, so they'd would smell alike. helped with socialization
I love how you make them talk lol 😂💖💖💖💖 they are so cute , I'm so thankful for these videos, I have two rats and I'm wanting to introduce at least one more maybe two tops , but doc is blind and dopy is the alpha and kinda a jerk in this regard, I'm hoping that mayne sence these guys done well , im hoping maybe I could have a chance fpr one more 💖💖💖💖
I tried introducing my boy Jet to some new rats after his buddy died. We kept the new guys in a separate cage that was nearby, and Jet didn't really care so we put them on the couch. Jet immediately attacked one and was overall grumpy. Dude just refused to make new friends I guess.
These feminist agenda commentaries bcs of that one mad comment someone else made are making me laugh tf out I love ur content love seeing the rats being silly chaos potato’s keep it up!!!!
