Im a school teacher. I started investing in 2022. Im at R87 000 and counting. Come on Baby. Bring those returns... R47k cash in Tyme bank. And R40k in EE. @@CasualCash made a lot of mistakes. I was following the crowd and went in too hot initially with Purple Group, Sibanye, Sasol and Renergen. So they are all at more than -50%. But the Portfolio has been recovering bit by bit with sensible buys in quality ETFs and Div Stocks. Also opened the USD and GBP account in April this year. I used your PF as a guidline and started DCA into 80% similar holdings. I live very frugally and save as much as I can. I invest birthday money, bonusses, SARS refunds, and I pay schoolfees upfront to get the 10% discount. We recycle and reuse a lot of the water in the home to increase savings as well. I can't wait to hit the R100k mark. Probably 4 months from now.

@@CasualCash I made a lot of mistakes in 2022. I went in too hot into some meme stocks and they are all at more than - 50%. Since then I have been dollar cost averaging into sensible ETFs and dividend stocks, reinvesting the returns and the PF has been recovering bit by bit since then. I used your portfolio as a baseline and I have about 80% similar stocks. I have opened the USD and GBP account in April 2024 as well. I save as much as I can. I invest any birthday money, bonuses, SARS refunds and I pay school fees in full to get the 10% discount. I cancelled some subscriptionns and kicked some bad habits to save. We also collect rainwater and reuse a lot of the greywater in the house to increase savings. Discipline is key. I fund the PF at the beginning of the month and also invest any cash left at the end of the month. I have a side Hustle that also brings me in some cash every now and then which is then invested. I can't wait to get to 100k. Probably 3/4 months from now. I would love to have a conversation with you to discuss some technical aspects of portfolio management like when to reinvest or reallocate dividends to other holdings. All this info is good, but in my opinion the most important piece of advice (for compound growth and for reaching that first 100k) is: time. Or to be more precise: starting as early as possible, so that you have as much time possible for things to compound. I started investing a mere R500 when I started working (and had a super low salary), and after about 10 years, I had R100k. And it only took R500. That is not a lot of money each month, but it is a lot of time.

I couldn't agree more! In the days of Bitcoin everyone wants to get there quickly, and unfortunately with that kind of investing often it can go quickly as well. Putting money away into steady stocks over time, and letting it compound is brilliant advice! Absolutely!

That is not good. 500 times 120 is R60k. That is over 10 years. So n mere 40k. Only R333 profit a month. Better than nothing, but there are much better ways to make a lot more and quicker.

If you had some larger funds where would you put it to get around 10% div. And would you recommend recieving dividends quarterly?

Well for a 10% dividend you would look at Property shares. Take a look at my latest video I just put out today, and you will see some good options. I would say Octodec and Fairvest are good options :) Quarterly dividends are brilliant!
