Brilliant, thank you for the advice, always dubious about lifting the car other than on jacking points. I feel more confident now 👍

It's all about the 330Ci Coupe! Mine's Mystic Blue and have had it for a few years now. Absolutely fantastic car. Even took it to the Nurburgring a couple of years ago and the only fault I had was the rear ABS/speed sensor, which I put down to crap from Brunchen corner carpark after it pissed it down something rotten.

@@MTechGuy Yeah it was brilliant. I have my lap videos on my channel somewhere, and it was my first time there. I didn’t go mad as I knew my limitations and I needed the car to stay in one piece! Hugely recommended for any petrol head. I went Thurs - Sun and met some E46 guys at the hotel who were ‘ring regulars so they ended up being my tour guide!

totally agree, i have had a e90 for a few years and just got a e46 325 as a project car, absolutely love it more than my e90, going for a 330 engine swap next year but got a long list of maintenance first 😄.

Hi I have a e36 and I have that u brace near the differential too just like the one you used to jack up the rear. (I believe that’s the subframe right?) but can I use that u brace to jack up my e36 as well?

Yes, same. Make sure to use a piece of wood or something to avoid damaging it

@@MTechGuy damn, must be the lighting and camera. Or the previous owner. By factory they don't have tint (so I'm told). Check if on the inside there is a film or a separate layer near the top of the window.
@MTechGuy

It’s factory, they come with a slight green tint. There is no addition tint added to this car

@@MTechGuy ok you're definitely right since my car has the same and I had to remove it. Guy at the tint shop kept telling me that wasnt factory, trying to charge double to remove it. So I removed it myself.

Are there any other spots to put the stands on though but? What gives me the fear on these cars is you can't see the actual metal you're putting the stands under, in the UK for all you know it could be rusted out lol
@MTechGuy
@MTechGuy Год назад
They are the strongest spots. If you’re worried about rust, get a garage to inspect the car first on a hoist, to confirm if it’s safe
@darkoz1692
@darkoz1692 2 года назад
Why not use the front and rear jacking points, no need for two jacks.
@MTechGuy
@MTechGuy 2 года назад
No.1 Car was too low to get the jack under the front of the car. No.2 If you jack at the front centre point it crushes the aluminium stiffener plate
@arnolduk123
@arnolduk123 2 года назад
Big safety fail in this video is using jacks and axels stands on unlevel and cobbled surface. Everything else seems good advice but I wouldn't risk working underneath that car, could easily knock one of those stands moving around. Read safety points on how NOT to use axel stands, this video ignores several of them.
@MTechGuy
@MTechGuy 2 года назад
The driveway isn’t cobble stones, it’s “printed” concrete. If it wasn’t safe I wouldn’t choose to get underneath the car myself
@arnolduk123
@arnolduk123 2 года назад
@@MTechGuy Still not a safe surface to support a 1.5 tonne car on 4 axel stands. At 1:27 I can see a 1 inch deep gap inbetween each brick. Manufacturers state in safety instructions not to use 4 stands to support the full load of a vehicle. I just read the safety instructions so that's fine if you feel safe under that setup. Besides, you are using Halfords cheapo range of axel stands.
@MTechGuy
@MTechGuy 2 года назад
@@arnolduk123 Thanks for the input, I’ve had these “cheapo” stands in service for approx. 20 years using this practice 🙃
@arnolduk123
@arnolduk123 2 года назад
@@MTechGuy LOL..I'm not saying they are useless, just saying if you're going to support the car fully off ground with stands, I'd go for much stronger expensive stands. And those cobbles look scary with axel stands balanced on them.
@arnolduk123

@@panscrank one that does it wrong and one that does correctly 🤣why take chances like that, take it to a garage who have all the correct lifting gear to do this kind of work.
