I’m having a slight urge to disco dance and wear platform sandals again 😂, but granny squares are actually more early 70s now that I think about it. I have an utterly hideous orange and avocado green afghan from my MIL made out of granny squares. I will not be making a dress out of it. Love yours, though! Can’t wait to see what you do with it.
In my 40 + years of crocheting, I've never known you can sew things together like this. Been wondering if you could, but, have never seen it done. TYSM for sharing this method with us ❣️ I'm wondering now if it can be used to sew sweater pieces together. Seems so easy to do. Love your channel, dear. 😍❣️😻
Thank you for watching :) I would totally play with sewing sweater pieces together. It’s really going to depend on the thickness of the yarns for your stitch lengths & widths & you might want to put seam tape on the underside of the stitch for even more strength.
Anastasia, you just blew my mind. I've been searching how to join granny squares to put a strip down the outside seam of a pair of jeans. This is a better way than crocheting it together. It will make it less stretchy and more durable. I'll be making a dress like yours next. Thanks for combining two sills into one. I love this!! I subscribed after seeing this tutorial. Keep them coming! Can you do a tutorial on sewing granny squares onto jeans? Now I have to figure out how to sew it onto my jeans. Please, please help me out.
I’m thinking of sewing some crochet sweater panels together. Do you have any suggestions for seaming so the that they aren’t so bulky on the inside? Love your videos by the way. I learned to sew just by your videos!!
Oh yes I did make the dress I am wearing. It’s a shirt dress with a gathered waist. I’m also wearing a light jacket over it. I’ll post some pictures of it in my RU-vid posting area. For my granny square dress it’s going to have a black lining & be a fit n flair style. I’m still deciding on sleeves.
What a great idea! However, for me, I think I prefer the traditional way of crocheting them together, simply for the fact that there are so many different methods to create more interest, not that you cant do that with this method either. I am still a beginner at crochet yet and not up to double crochet or granny squares yet. This is definitely something to keep in mind though. I mostly do loom knits ATM. I am working on what will be either a christmas skirt, or robe, depending on how far I decide to take it. I am doing this on the white 60" KB "S"/Infinity loom. If I go the robe route, there will definitely be some joinery at some point. My yarn is the Red Heart(?) Mistletoe yarn. As I have not yet finalized a lot in this project, there are several ideas being mulled- skirt/robe will definitely be close to, if not. floor length, so thinking of maybe some Silver/Gold braid with jingle bells as skirt/robe hikes for easier walking. Perhaps even doing the seaming of the robe front, shoulders, and sleeves in similar braid with more jingle bells I am only at about 6" in now with the hem, still a long ways to go on my 36in inseam +more to get to my waist, if skirt, or shoulders, if robe/dress. Perhaps make it a 2 piece that can be stitched together for Robe/Dress mode, or left apart and be skirt/cardigan sweater for layering and not getting too hot inside. Much to think about when crafting....Happy Crafting Everyone!!
Its like you read minds! I hate hate HATE seaming grannys😭 Do you think this method will work with other types of knit/crochet seaming? Also is this the new granny square yarn?
I'm new to sewing crochet linings and sewing crochet pieces together, is there a sewing machine recommendations for this or just any machine? I'm afraid to invest to one machine and then it ended up not being able to sew with yarn project. Thanks
