In the USA, you can get a Captain's license without ever being in the Merchant Marine (same as your Merchant Navy). To become a Captain, it's simply a matter of time at sea and tonnage, as well as passing Captain's license tests. Of course, the Merchant Marine is awesome for the resume but not necessary, IDK for India, but foreigners can certainly qualify for USA Captain's license.

Sir I am having 55 in pcm and now studying dns in ima. I heard that those who are not having 60 in pcm need to do 36 months as a deck cadet Please provide correct details about its a request..

Bro after completing DNS, u have to sail a ship and get 18 month sea-time experience and the u can apply for 2nd mate exam
