HOW TO JUMP ON INLINE SKATES - Part 3 - Toe Push
This video is part of series and best watched in order.
Playlist --- goo.gl/BrYdcE
The TOE PUSH is sometimes ignored during discussions on jumping technique because people are often worried about their wheels washing out from underneath their body as they jump.
1) Set up your jump - The first step is to set up your jump but placing your weight on the second wheel.
Thanks for watching.

Thank you very much, I'm still nervous because it's my first time on a rollerblade I'm also nervous about braking because maybe when I'm going fast I don't know what I'll do but thank you so much for this video.

Is the rotation of the feet during the jump intentional? I have been seeing this one in some videos and it looks cool, but I see no reasons to do this, coming from the Calisthenics world.

Thanks so much for these 3 jump tutorials thus far. They have really helped me get me over the fear of leaving the floor. As much as it is a goal for me to jump it's always been a bit for a fear. Now it's just more of a challenge than fear. Thanks Shop Task and I'll stop by you guys again soon, those Ground Control Mega and Big look like something I would need for my area of skating....maybe even the intuition liner...maybe

Thanks to various input via you all here at Shop Task and other inline skater RU-vid channels I follow I will do just that. Question, my V13s are a bit tight around the toe area. Is this simply me needing to break it in more? Would said gift to myself of intuition liners help my poor feet with this? Cus only heavens kno how long I'll skate when I feel like my skate is as comfy as a sneaker.

Thanks for the tips Shaun. I now realise I need to concentrate more on balancing on my 2nd wheel for the take off. I often find my feet slip behind me as I jump because I don't have my balance correct.
@FlowSkate
@FlowSkate 7 лет назад
The second wheel is key. I also practise by jumping a bit to the side and not straight ahead. By pushing a bit to the side I can avoid having my wheels slipping under me.
@whittyskater

I would love if they were to re do these with 3 wheel skates too and stuff. I know they are basically the same but since I skate 3 wheels mainly, I can attest that there are some minor differences.

Whts up Shaw. I admit you got me back to inline skating. It’s been almost 6yrs since I got back on. I picked up my old RB twister 243 put some new wheels and started to skate. I’m still a intermediate blader. Just have some question. Since I started last month, it’s is normal to have pain on ur ankle and on top of my feet. Also I watch a lot of ur video and I’m learning to jump, thts one thing I could never accomplish but ur video is awesome on explaining step-by-step. Could it be tht my blades are to small for my feet, I wear 8.5 sneaker, boost, and shoes, and my blades are 8.5. Or do I just need to break them in more. Thanks for ur time. Keep up the good work

Great beginner vids! Using your vids to help teach a friend how to ride. I personally was wondering the same as another comment, spin videos anytime soon? 3's are simple but when i go for a 540 i always through myself off balance to the point of no return. Even with big air I just cant stay upright for any more than one revolution.
@FlowSkate

I have some ideas that I think will help with progression from 360 to 540.

i noticed that you got lil bit of angle when you jump. ithink that s the key that creates more friction to jump higher?

I would suggest any Seba FR model (my favourite is the FR Intuition) or a Rollerblade Twister.

540 at the end super nice bud. I was gonna ask if spins are coming? I cant seem to break my mental block past 180s. The toe push seems very smooth also noticing a little shifty on the jumps is that intentional or is that from transferring you weight into your cuffs?
@KirraZirra
@KirraZirra 7 лет назад
Derek Simmons Derek that's dope. Thanks for the quick reply. I will try that my next time out! Tomorrow morning 😁
@FlowSkate
@FlowSkate 7 лет назад
Great advice from Derek. I will be talking about 180, 360 and 540s soon. The shifty is something that I developed to help me push more from my toes without my wheels slipping behind me.

would this work normally on triskates too?
@FlowSkate
@FlowSkate 7 лет назад
Yes. This will work with tri skates. You will have to find the weight placement on take off somewhere between the first and second wheel. I do find that the bigger wheels that are standard on the Triskates make jumping bit more difficult.

@Kj16V
@Kj16V 7 лет назад
What the heck is "naturally rockered?" I keep seeing the phrase but never found a decent explanation.
@jorge.oliveiragomes
@jorge.oliveiragomes 7 лет назад
Kj16V Is when the frame has the first and the last wheels slightly higher. You can also rocker your skates, in case they are not naturally rockered, by placing the first and the last wheels in smaller sizes, like, 76mm, 80mm, 80mm, 76mm. A naturally rockered frame allows you to put all the wheels in the same size, let's say, 80mm, and have the same results.
@FlowSkate
@FlowSkate 7 лет назад
Your wheels wear down at different rates. After you have skated on a new set of wheels for about 100km the wheels will create a natural rocker that is maneuverable and stable. I recommend rotating your wheels by simply swapping the wheels from one skate to the other without changing the positions to maintain the wheels and maintain the natural rocker.
