In this video I show you how to jump start your 2021 Toyota rap for hybrid. I use my noko GB 150 jump Box. You can use jumper cables just like a regular car. I prefer to use the jump Box because it's more efficient and easier to carry.
I have the new RAV4 XSE hybrid 2023, brand new with less than 100 Km, I did not drive it for about two weeks and the battery dead. I used this video and the car started right away, thank you very much
Thank you for the video. I just got a RAV4 hybrid. Going away for 2 weeks and leaving Rav at friends house near airport. I’ve been reading some Ravs have discharged battery after 2 weeks of not being driven. Some are fine. But I think it’s a safe investment to pick up one of these. Had no idea how to use it!
They put a specific ground connection point under the hood. It’s on the left of the engine block, just below where you fill the oil. It’s the U shaped piece of metal. It’s pretty far from the positive terminal but that’s by design to separate them so they don’t interfere with one another
The RAV4 has that kind of square piece of metal on the engine, by the cooling reservoir for use with the ground connector (see owners manual). Now the positive connector is a horrible connector, not the idea. The main battery is located in the back of the RAV4 and not in a very usable place for jumping the battery. Toyota really needs to redesign the Positive Post for the purpose of jumping a car, the RAV4 or to the other car. I have trouble making a good connection for the Positive post in the fuse box, to the jumper cable, not that if you play around it does work, but frustrating to find that sweet spot.
I agree with you. It is hard to get electrical connection on that terminal. One side is plastic and the other side is metal but it is slightly below the plastic covering the top of the terminal. The dealer told me that it takes a lot longer to charge the battery using that terminal. It is still better to jumpstart or charge directly at the battery at the back.
Hi thank you so much for this awesome video! My Toyota RAV4 hybrid 2016's battery died during lockdown because we did not drive it for more than 6 months! I used your method and I was driving it on the road in next 10 minutes! Super helpful! Only difference is that I used Costco's type s battery. But I see one problem! No matter how much ever I am driving it is not charging. Every time I turn it off it needs to be jump started. Any guess on what could be wrong?
@@roadsideguy5902 I have 2 dead batteries one in a Lexus Rx350 and one in a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. Neither car is used often so the mechanic told me to buy a NOCO GB40. It had a rough time starting the Lexus which was the last used vehicle. I am wondering if NOCO has a boost/maintainer combo that gives a readout like yours so I don’t have to use my multimeter and one that has both a booster and a maintainer? And should I have bought a higher capacity booster?
Do any car companies make decent jump posts? The ground never works, I'm pretty sure they all ground it to painted surface, and the positive is always a metal blade that the clamp can't grab well.
No they don't. It's as if engineers are morons nowadays. I shake my head at how f n stupid these engineers are. I have to ground to and engine most the time just to get the job done. Idiots!!!!
@@roadsideguy5902 thanks! I hope Rav doesn’t die while I have it parked, while on vacay, but better safe than sorry. Plus a good thing to have. Esp since CAA waits these days are ridiculous. I’d cancel except I have daughter and husband on my acct who both have older cars!
@@susanmeredith4957 the GB 40 and a spare key are the two best things a person can prepare themselves with. Oh and an air pump. Thanks dor watching and commenting. That GB40 is a great battery bank for phones and stuff also.
