I love that you guys add a lot of humor into these videos. Most of us come here anxious and serious, but the little jokes really lighten the mood

Stop Ruminating. Don't engage. Let it do its things then redirect to something you enjoy

Hello! Thanks! I struggle with agoraphobia and panic attacks (panic disorder) but I'm absolutely not afraid to lose my mind. That's not one of my fears. I have other fears... I have 2 questions. I'd like to go at the supermarket but it's 1,2km away from me. Should I force myself to go there anyway or should I use gradual exposure? Maybe 300 meters and 300 meters 2 weeks later, and 300 meters 2 or 3 weeks later... I think going slowly, step by step, is probably better than forcing myself to ride 1,2 km. Even though I know that it's just uncomfortable and not dangerous. But knowing that it's not dangerous doesn't really help me to feel a lot better. I beat agoraphobia and panic attacks once, so I believe I can do it again. But it's really hard. Surprisingly, you never talk about gradual exposure...

hello. thanks for this video! its very relatable. i had one question. i have similar intrusive thoughts. "what if i keep having these intrusive thoughts forever?" that's my intrusive thought most of the times. but since few days ago, i have this word dying pop up in my mind bcs "what if i die?" and it doesn't scare me actually bcs i know it won't happen but the thought that "what if this means i have ocd?" really scares me. more than anything I've been scared of the "what if i have ocd?" thought. but i don't have any other symptoms

Hey, I have the same thing. I talked to my therapist about this yesterday. She said that if you have these intrusive thoughts and try to find answers as to why, that is, in some way, OCD. It's an obsessive thought, then the compulsory reaction is to find answers and comfort from it. BUT she said that EVERYTHING is on a scale. Being "diagnosed" with something, such as OCD, is literally just for clinical purposes and to help treat. One could have it very mildly, or more severe. To some degree, I think most people with GAD and other anxiety disorders that lead to intrusive thoughts, have a little OCD. But that doesn't make you a bad person. It is just a label. I hope this helps!
