I love how Bob manages to get decent rolls when it's a meh situation (or when it's time for the final kill so he can explode stuff), but whenever he really desperately needs a good roll he gets below 5. Love the show as always, keep it up!

Loved the episode! I just love picturing in my mind Greg, Bodger and Grinn all screaming and flailing around getting attacked by the mimic while Baradun and Bob just obliviously count gold upstairs. Also, sure Baradun got a little shafted by Bob (as did everybody) but those papers upstairs were a good find. When they eventually get back to Gerdawn, evidence against Laethil will go a long way toward not getting obliterated by the Order of the Weave. Even max level, the party can't just fight their way past an entire order of magic as much as Bodger would try.

Did Domino understand, that Mimic is just a free hugger for everyone?

Hamish is a gem! Such a funny addition to the story. So glad to see a mimic. My DM has made me petrified of looting with them. Had a whole mini arc where he'd played on our expectation of loot being a mimic and ended with us dealing with a whole cottage mimic. I look forward to this every week.

Mimics are classic. Once in my party one of our character's picked up a jewelry box with both hands before realizing it was a mimic. My character, trying to be helpful, decided to use primal savagery to bite the mimic, doing nothing but making the situation worse as it did nothing to the mimic and then I was stuck as well. The barbarian of the party hears this commotion and just giggles and closes the door to the room we're in and walks away. Another character had to come rescue us and shoot the mimic (I think using eldritch blast) between my character's face and the other one's hands. Glorious.

I started this series when it first started and took a break around episode 30. Within the last two days I have caught up and now I just look forward to new episodes. Great stuff guys, Rob seems like the best DM!

Ah. The awkward tension that always follows discovering treasure in game. I remember playing a game with some friends. We were all fairly new to D&D. I was playing the Rogue, so I had gone ahead to scout. I was alone. The rest of our party were in another room and had no idea where I was. Found a chest. Found treasure. And a magic item intended for my character. I had no intention of Nova, my rogue, telling the party he found anything. But of course, my friends knew my character found something. So they of course started meta gaming and their characters started asking what I found. Acting as though their characters just happened to know I had found something of value. Kept playing it off like he found nothing. But they wouldn't let it go. I ended up throwing them each a little gold. And myself and the DM, who had a tad more experience than the rest, had to explain the difference between player knowledge and character knowledge. Just becuase you as a player knows something happened, doesn't mean your character knows it. #StopMetaGaming

I'd say you should think about using alternative rules for rolling a 1. Critical failure was always a fun aspect of older D&D editions. In a recent campaign, a player repeatedly rolled 1s, resulted in him lobbing his warhammer at a nearby player. He got that random result THREE TIMES in a single session and did more damage to the party than anything I threw at them. Fun times! Then again, Bob would probably end up killing everyone, so maybe not a great idea ;)

Watching Rowan play this with no knowledge or understanding of D&D lore is so good. A lot of groups are so familiar with the tricks and traps, so they can kind of metagame around it but Rowan just blusters through it and triggers everything.

As an experienced AD&D player (since the 80s), always check for traps multiple times. 😊 Also, when I adventure with a party, treasure found is mostly group treasure and we all roll a 20-sided die to determine who would get to.pick.first.from treasure.
