This was worth the wait. I think I'll try your surgical approach over my previous "shoot the machine till it dies while you burn through your medicine" tactic.
@@ArktixOfficial THANK YOU SOOO MUCH for not spoiling the game! I appreciate that you held back on saying what the final boss is that has more HP than the fireclaw. P.S. I had no idea you could preload double/triple arrows! That’s a nifty little hidden mechanic tip. :) Also, are you playing on PC with a keyboard and mouse? Because your aim is freakin’ surgical. Also, do the fireclaws around the Cut have the same HP and difficulty as the first one we were introduced to as a boss in the cauldron? Or is that one buffed? Just curious.
Finally, a helpful video, not the "NG++++ super mods how to kill in 3 seconds stuff". Was really helpful as a new player, thank you! I really liked, that the meat of the video is already delivered in less then two minutes (good structure) and if more explanation is needed, the rest of the video delivers with the narration of the actual combat.
I’m glad you found it helpful! Yes, that’s definitely my goal with these machine hunting guides. I also found it really annoying as a new player to see all these videos of people with maxed out stats taking down machines super fast. Like you said, they’re just not helpful. Thanks for letting me know you think this structure is good!
These were literal lifesavers. As fun as it was to have my strategy of loading up the fighting arena from stealth with an obscene amount of tripwires, traps, and proximity bombs (you are the fly, I am the spider, cauldron thunderjaw!) that strategy doesn't work if I'm in those hunter trials where time is so critical, and these endgame DLC monsters in particular just have *so much health* that when trying to brute force them with blast wires, which will kill or stun smaller enemies, _they'll gleefully barrel through six of them to continue right on with killing you._
NGL , the one FireClaw that comes inside the cauldron is a nightmare!! Limited space to manoeuvre with the fireclaw performing all its attack tricks , took me almost 40 tries and exhausted all my resources killing it
Horizon ZD is the very first PS game (honestly, the very first and thus far the only video game) I have ever owned and played. Because of my lack of experience, the beginning was rather challenging for me but I quickly realized that this game is brilliant and beautiful and I fell deeply in love with it and gaming in general. This being said, I would like to thank you so much for making these tutorials, they really have helped me along the way to understand the game and the machines better. I love your way of explaining things, all your tutorials have been very clear, straight to the point and very professional - you truly have a talent for this! I can't wait to get started with Horizon FW (and meanwhile I hope I don't spoil the whole game to myself, as I am tempted to watch all your videos about it :)).
Hi! Thanks so much for your comment! I’m glad to hear your enjoying Zero Dawn and my videos are helping you 😄 When you get to Forbidden West I’ll have a big library of content waiting for you 😁 Thanks for your support!
@@anti-ethniccleansing465 25, but I never got around to playing until my bf gifted this game to me for Christmas :) Before ZD I had played assassin's creed on PC for like 2 hours when i was around 13 or so but otherwise I had completely lived under the rock 😁
Thank you so much! It was about to scream with frustration over the fire claw. But with your approach, I finished it off in one go with a lot less pain and suffering
I just went through the last cauldron and am working on hunting down the escaped fireclaws now! But right before I started that quest I tried to override a thunderjaw the wrong way, which ended in being stepped on hahaha because it basically tripped on me for trying to sneak up behind it and I didn't think it was about to turn around!
I fought one of these last night in the banuk dlc as final boss. Oh my that was probably one of the craziest thing I had to ever combat. First attempt I got squished like a bug. Using the rope caster with icerail canon helped tremendously 😅
This video redeemed The Frozen Wilds for me. I used to brute force these things with bombs. While successful after multiple frustrating attempts then, it was a very expensive ordeal. Thank you! I have a very different view of TFW now.
Hey thanks Marc! Glad you were able to pick up some tips from this 😄 Yeah it’s not obvious how to approach Fire and Frostclaws, but they do have their weaknesses!
Ok, that was some fine ass play man! Just about to take on one of these in the volcano cauldron. I so wish I knew I had an ice rail in a treasure box so I could have up graded it first but hey, we are where we are lol.
I just started playing Frozen wilds again since it’s been a long time. I was having a hard time defeating these fire claws. I loved all the tips you gave and it was very helpful. I had to kill 5 of them for a quest. Thanks so much for video I appreciate it and I subbed. Have an awesome day kind sir 👍🏼🤗😁
I got the high, high ground on them and used this method. It worked like a charm 😂😂 (also helps if you can call a mount to distract them for a while lol). Thanks for the help
Alright, best Machine fighting series I've seen! Thanks @Arktix. Super helpful! Incredibly informative, educational, and implementable! I've seen various other machine hunting series, most are pretty mediocre. A couple are pretty good, but yours are the best, hands down!
So glad I found this! You saved my bacon in the epsilon cauldron with just the shadow war bow and the carja sharpshot bow cuz I was a dummy and didn’t buy any fancy new weapons just played the game. Super awesome video!!!
@@ArktixOfficial Thanks! Really struggling with them on NG+ ultra hard. Most of its attacks are one shot if landed, and we need the sacs intact so I feel like I'm hitting my head against a wall.
Great work Arktix, thank you. First I've seen your work as it sure took forever to get my paws on a ps5 at msrp, better late than never & again, great work you did here, thanks.
This was a really good and in-depth strategy! Just wanted to let ya know that the part where your talking about the fireclaw is labeled “Bellowback overview”
Oh man. Thank you! I was editing that pretty late last night. I must have forgotten to change the time stamp. I’ll fix it. Thanks a lot for pointing that out!
Well no…actually I don’t want anymore more subscribers. You seem really cool and as my most recent sub I’d like to end on a high note. I’m kidding! Of course you can and I’d really appreciate it! That’s very kind of you. Were you thinking like on Reddit or something?
Icerail's cannon can also hit those spots with higher damage, but of course. even with 3 50+ handling mods, its still load slow. And yeah it needs a good aim too. However, chillwater is just so expensive.
Helpful video, especially re: initial shock arrows. That said, even with all three Banuck bows, I don't do nearly as much triple shot damage as you, and it still takes forever to freeze Fireclaws, even with three freeze mods on the bow. My hardpoint arrows are useless as well. Can you discuss how you're modding the bows, as that must be responsible for the difference.
Hey thanks! I’m not particularly into speed running, but I do follow that community a bit since they come up with some useful tips for general play too. I do like the lore, but I haven’t done videos on it. Maybe I should at some point.
just watched a basic fireclaw (thanks to 3 corruption arrows) killing 3 trampler, 1 demonic scorcher (2nd one ran off with its last 15% health) and a demonic scrapper. the beast had still about 35% hp left
Good questions. Personally, I like the Banuk bows, but if you tend to loose shots early, then the Shadow gear is better. Like you say, you can fire them faster for full damage.
In my opinion fireclaws are far harder in zero dawn because you can’t do 10k damage with every shot like you can in forbidden west, both are challenging of course but my way to take them down was rope caster, freeze, eye shot and if you are quick you can hit a power cell and do it again and it was an inf loop
Thank you! So you’d like to see my un-edited playthrough? I don’t think I’ll be able to edit walkthrough videos to be as engaging as these guides 😅 Walkthrough’s would basically just be raw gameplay, but I can totally do that if you’re interested!
No you’re english is very good. It’s 1000x better then my german anyway :) I just wanted to see if you meant something edited like quest guides. I’ll see if I can work in walkthrough videos with all the other videos I have planned. Thank you for the suggestion!
I've got the best gear in the game, and I can't freeze one of these at all. It simply doesn't work. Nothing really seems to work, other than keep moving, and throw everything you've got at them over and over and over and hope for the best. 🤷♂️
So, after fighting these things for about an hour and a half, I've learned that shock weapons are useless. Freeze weapons are useless. Get your shield-weaver armor on. Have your 12 full health potions ready, make sure you have *LOTS* of ingredients for explosives, and sticky bomb these guys over and over and over while always moving sideways and jumping for slow-mo. You'll have to reload about a dozen times, but after trying everything I could think of, and dying a dozen times... This was the *only* thing that worked for me.
Not the best video that comment this on but this was randomly recommended. A) was an ice cream van in the background when you recorded :D? B) I hate having to get the webbing from these in FW :'(
Wy don't you use Tear to get the armor off... I do this to get machines ready for hits that will cause an explosion... I appreciate this video, but I'll probably do a tear volley... hopefully I can get it all in...
I was raging when I first fought this machine in the caldera. My thoughts back then was that the developer is a fcking sadist. All I did was dodge, roll, heal, shoot.
I have the upgraded ice rail but I don't know how much chillwater and shards to bring, I don't want to run out of ammo mid fight, how much should I bring
@@ArktixOfficial Sorry I don't know why I said survival guide, I meant like how to be prepared for bandit camps etc. or a guide for crafting items and trading.
Oh I see. I'm not sure how popular of a video that would be. If you need help with things like that I'd recommend joining my discord server, which is linked in all my video descriptions.
its been hard for me to quantify this but whats your opinion on the aggression of the fireclaws in HZD vs HFW. idk what it is but ive always felt that even excluding the different loadouts that the daemonic fireclaw was harder than its counter part the apex fireclaw in hzd. Numbers wise i think the apex is still tougher but i just think the HZD fireclaws were more quick, unpredictable, and relentless with their attacks than their brothers in HFW. Id love to hear if anyone else can back me up on this but i swear ive had and continue to have more trouble with the Og fireclaws than the new one in forbidden west.
Interesting question. Well first, I would say they the ZD and FW Fireclaws are not as different as some other machines, like the ZD and FW Thunderjaws. The FW Tjaws are way harder. As for Fireclaws, I think the new one is a little tougher actually, simply because it's HP is higher and I think it's attacks can do quite a bit more damage, especially the Apex. However, a corrupted Fireclaw in ZD was no joke either!
@@ArktixOfficial thats kinda what i was talking about on paper the fireclaws in FW are tougher and hit harder but idk during fights it seems like they give you more breathing room between their attacks than they ever did in the first game. When they were first introduced it just felt like i was doing more to keep myself breathing than worrying about damage. But in FW the fireclaws take way more time to recover after attacks and do weird pauses outta the blue to imo give players time to recuperate and counter attack when the og model never afforded anyone thats luxury. Just notice h
canyou guys tell me how to upgrade bows to yellow color or make it stronger ? even the electric gun i see you have purple color i have blue can u epline to me how to upgrade
You certainly can! I just don’t personally like using ropecasters much and I wanted to show how to do it without a ropecaster since a lot of players wouldn’t have the lodge one.
I really dont understand why Gorilla insists on theowing the kitchen sink at you. For all the things that are great about these games, they pad them out way too much. It takes way too much time to level and upgrade gear.
