In the Undyne the Undying fight, I found that it was useful to keep the torn notebook in my inventory so I could equip it at hard attacks so I had more iFrames.

i mean it can be usefull in epic battle fantasy where the weapons have elemental damage and in the finaal boss the boss changes his weakness every few turns

I mean, that's fair but, no sane game dev would make their combat system that deep on purpose. It's an antiquated qualit of life that's been slowly phased out in favor of either building tools into the character's moveset instead of forcing you to open a menu. Maybe if the game makes it so you only control one character it would be more important for hitting weaknesses. Yet games where you can do challenges like those either have magic or exploiting their weak point is negligible. The only game I can really say does this is the legend of Zelda.

Ngl honestly, If you ask me, Burgerpants only ran the shop because he didn't want to be Yelled At By MTT just incase he did. Though Gerson DEFINITELY did it to spite the player character.

I found it out cause I'm working on an rpg maker game with weapon swapping so it's a mechanic I think about a lot in games that have it.

Examples: a Royal scientist existing before alphys, a human not being able to overpower flowey ( flowey was created from dt of the souls, And there is more dt to be used on other amalgamites + the souls can still exist outside of their bodies so flowey dosen't have much The significant time gap between the yellow soul ( clover ) And frisk dosen't exist due to many characters being alive when they shouldn't be born yet

Burgerpants also stays in his shop like gerson iirc. Dina does kind of the same thing, she stays in the saloon and you can't kill her cause you just can't start a fight with her (but you can steal items from her shop)

It wasn't really to prevent the game from crashing, if they didn't want that they could've just used the default death animation and pretending it didn't happen. I'm pretty sure the message was just for the people who go walk in their save file and type in 9999 as their atk stat and insta kill them.
