Movement is both simple and complicated in Kill Team.
Hopefully I can help you cut through any confusion.

Wow what a great video, super clear and well edited: great job! I'm just not sure about one rule: when you talk about "drops", you moved the space marine counting from the opposite side of the wall. Instead, I always believed you still have to count the distance from it's base's head. This way you don't get a free inch or so of movement from the wall's thickness. The way I understand climbing, traversing and dropping is the following: it's like a cost from your movement, so you subtract from it a said amount of circles (and from the dash if you use it too). Only then can you move, with whatever movement you have left. It's the reason why a simple dash cannot get you through a barricade even if your base is one inch in diameter: you spend one circle to traverse and with the remaining triangle you cannot place the base of your model on the other side of the barricade, because as you measure from the head of the base you would need one inch plus the barricade's thickness (more than zero inches for sure), which amounts to just over an inch BUT you only have one left, so you couldn't place the base and the move is invalid. Sorry if it took me a while to explain, and sorry for any grammatical mistakes (I'm not a native English speaker) so if anything sounds off I'll be glad to explain myself! Thanks again for your great video, and let me know what you think about this matter!

If you're talking about the broken wall example, as I explained in a similar fashion to climb, you are allowed to use dash during the sequence to gain the distance needed to end the movement. This adding of a dash seems to only occur during climb or drop.

@@KimerexProjekt yes that's the example I'm talking about, and I agree you can totally add your dash to your movement. What I find inexact is that in the example you measured the movement form the wall, when you should have measured from the base's head instead!

@@KimerexProjekt at 14:57, shouldn't you measure from the base instead of the wall?

@@alessandrobussoletti9384See this is the thing. With the example in the book for drop it shows the distance down as measured to the corner between the ground and the wall. It then shows the circle move from that corner to push the unit out. Again, I am always in the camp that GW keeps rules semi loose and not completely clear, So I'm trying to word this better. Consider the move to be measured on the 'flat surfaces'. The full 3 circles would only end at the corner between the floor and wall. In this instance the intercessor can't end because there is no distance moved away from that corner for the front of his base to have moved, which is why I feel the dash was needed here. In the core rule book example with the little ork, they say its "horizontal distance it moves is measured as normal" and it shows that measurement coming from the corner point. All i can assume from this is something similar to 'traverse'. If the unit spends the distance to drop and has no distance left over to move away, the move is invalidated. This is why 'An operative can perform a Dash action during a drop in order to reach its intended destination.' is part of the drop rule. Hopefully this helps. Again, I agree the rules are a little poorly shown. The issue might partially because it is based on pictures and not moving video.

very well done videos, easy sub. tbh I wish there were ways to create more Kill Team events and build a community. My biggest issue with the game is most 40k ppl don't wanna play. It feels like KT is perfect for the miniature curious but don't have the time/bandwidth to play 40k or AoS. You're doing good work man, keep it up!

Does the Fly keyword make you ignore enemy operatives when charging? To make it clear: If I want to target an enemy behind a line of other enemies, can I charge that enemy on the back, ignoring other operatives in the way?
@KimerexProjekt
@KimerexProjekt Год назад
Yes. Fly is best visualized by considering that the operative is removed from the table and returns at it's destination, where as agents without fly are more "sliding" around the kill zone.

Thanks for the super clear descriptions! As a new player, the whole triangle, circle, square, pentagon thing is so frustrating. Why can't they just use inches where there's no memorising required? I can't think of a single way that it makes anything easier or faster. Is it only so they can sell their proprietary symbol measuring tools?
@KimerexProjekt
@KimerexProjekt 7 месяцев назад
Potentially. Although i heard someone bring up that they were trying to make the measurements more universal, as not all markets focus heavily on inch increments.
@larslaufer301

Is there a reason for why movement was split into 3 Circles instead of just 6 inch or 1 pentagon? Also, am I the only one that finds those simbols confusing? I would have prefered something like 1" = Line 2" = Circle 3" = Triangle 6" = Hex
@KimerexProjekt
@KimerexProjekt Месяц назад
@@larslaufer301 this is brought up a lot online. I feel like this is an attempt by GW to simplify things for a sort of international release. Possibly an attempt to reassess how rules are written to be a little bit more accessible for some people. I'm not sure it's the right answer, of course, but it's something they attempted. Attempted. I feel like the community as a whole has basically converted the symbols to inches. There may also be an element of issue when referencing inches where people believe that you can use a half inch to move. The way the rules are set up everything is supposed to be done in full increments. Connecting that thought to symbols might be a little bit easier for some. Outside of that, not too sure.
@larslaufer301
@larslaufer301 Месяц назад
@@KimerexProjekt I don't quite see that much of a simplification in using symboles over actual messuring. Should I want to make things simple I put them on a Hex grid and count the hexes. Okay that might just be me comming from games with grids ^_^ Anyway, I don't quite mind haveing symbols instead of actual inches that much. I am just confused about why not simply say "Can move on pentgram" instead of 3xcircle. I mean I can breake that down however I want anyway. Guess I will just make my own data cards and change it.
@KimerexProjekt
@KimerexProjekt Месяц назад
@@larslaufer301 it might also have something to do with how certain things change in 2-inch increments. If you're injured, you only lose 2. In. A lot of people's abilities adjust distances movable by 2 in. Charging adds an extra two. Maybe something like that?

I've been learning Killteam but it's been hellish with my dyscal getting in the way... Movement always trips me up, and I always feel dim when trying to figure any sort of movement. ... and i think the group I joined is wrong in their reading of the rule in any case. With 3(), that can just be read as 3x2" then? Ergo the Intercessor can move up to 6 inches; the preceding number is the multiplier for the base 'speed' of the unit?
@KimerexProjekt
@KimerexProjekt 4 месяца назад
Basically. It's 3 instances of 2 inches. Remember that during the process of moving, you can adjust the ⚪s to smaller or larger increments based on what you have. So an intercessor could technically move 6 🔺s or two 🟥s or a whole pentagon, but all distances moved are round up to at least an inch. It doesn't often cause issues in movement, but in some instances it could limit movement slightly.

am i wrong or when you scale a terrain 6" tall you must still use 3 circle?
@KimerexProjekt
@KimerexProjekt Год назад
Yes and no. So. In this instance, the wall is a little less than 3 circle, or 6 inches. As stated, if this vantage point has the "scalable" trait, the last less than 2 inches (or less than circle) distance is ignored for the climb. That means this can be used at the top to finish the move. Keep in mind that 'scalable' is an applied trait.I could claim that this surface isn't considered 'scalable' and therefore would cost the full 3 circles to climb. Making it require a dash to finish out when initiated from within a triangle of the wall.
