Here is a War Thunder quick guide for killing those 3 big Mean Soviet heavy tanks in your Tiger II. I am a Technical Moderator who is making short guides for the game to help new people learn, hope you enjoy.
There is a much more efficient method dealing with IS-4 or Soviet 7.3-7.7 heavies in general that I've always used. Basically whenever you have to face them at 500m range, simply press J. That gonna costs you much less time
When the Tiger 10,5 was 6.7, I liked loading APCR to suprise these heavies. Similar to the T95. They were suprised by how a Tiger II could pen. Got called cheater couple times.
It's pointless to use the 105mm Pzgr. 40, which didn't even exist, over the 105mm Pzgr. Rot, since it barely penetrates more while the APCBC round overpressures on penetration.
Neither how tiger 2's facing is-3's and 6's existed , if we want to play that game let's say the war continued the Germans would of kept making better tanks like the e-75 that was supposed to replace the tiger 2 the e-75 with a 105 gun better slopped 160 mm front armor and 285 mm turret would of been what those tanks would of faced in real life @@kimjanek646 If they want to play the realism card then make it so that the tanks face what they faced in reality not post war bs tanks that never saw combat and were probably crap ... kinda like how modern Russian tanks are taken out by Bradley's crap ... Russian bias in this game is comical
As a russian main that plays with german mains, I can confirm that these things are absolute nightmares. The MAUS is cool, but ultimately just a roadblock, when these things outrun some mediums. The actual nightmare fuel is seeing an entire team spawn IS3s, IS6s, IS4s and that one IS7.
Nice video! Just one more tip against the IS 3. Shoot the IS 3 frontally just below the gun, it will bounce off and penetrate the roof armor above the driver! Its a shot trap, similar to the Panther turret.
Also if you get lucky enough, you can shoot above the breech on that one 20-30mm plate. It’s so thin because it’s meant to be removable for maintenance, and rarely bounces shells due to how thin it is
You can easily go through the driver's hatch. Not many people seem to know about it and it can be a tough shot, but it's a guaranteed oneshot. You should especialyl know about this if you're playing the IS-3. Always bush up your frontal plate and do the ol wiggle if you're head on with someone and caught reloading.
This shot is unreliable with volumetric. I use the IS-3 and encountered many skilled players going for that, and it never works. They either clip my gun barrel or their shot dissapears. And same when i tried to take out an IS-3 like that. Before volumetric, the IS-3 was a very weak tank because people would instantly shoot there and kill you with any gun. Now, that's not really possible anymore.
Also there is one frontal weakspot on the is-3 that not many people even know about. If you shoot the cupola on the is-3’s left side (your right side) you can take out the turret crew. This is useful if you are in a situation where you are facing multiple tanks and disabling a tank just wouldn’t do. It’s quite flat so penetration isn’t too difficult at close range
Yeah, the IS-4 is just ridiculously well armored, only thing is that tanks will often have heat at 7.7, but if you are a 6.7 heavy you don't have heat :).
Nice video, but just reminder, the long your distance from the target, the less pen you got, so that weak point you say in the video probably doesn't work at far distance
As a player who has the is-4, it is also possible to trap shell and take out the crew, I have seen it done when the shell impacts the bottom left and right side of the, below the turret
On the is 6, if you shoot the back of the turret you may not hit ammo, because experienced is 6 players only bring about 14 shells with them so their ammo is stocked in the hull, if you have aphe you will kill crew, if you have ap, just go for the midde so u can kill the breech
nah the is-6 can get downtiered, and it should. It is a tank built before the tiger 2 and has been constantly uptiered, to the point that it faces apfsds and TOW missiles constantly
Simplest way is to not get in fights with them in the first place. 99% of heavy tanks in the game are ALWAYS gonna struggle in a full uptier. Let the tanks with better firepower handle them for the most part.
And remember if you try to hit this weak spots you probably just hit the tracks, or it doesn't pen, or he use his barrel as lightsaber to bounce of the shot, and if you're trying to get the advantage you already have given away for the 3rd time your location and a light tank with atgm will show up, just after CAS has dropped a 500kg bomb.
The Is-3 can be taken out from the front if u shoot the drivers optics, not always guaranteed but it works, also the right turret cheek is slightly bigger than the left one so it has a bit more chance to be penetrated
The tiger 2 H literally cannot see the T-10M in matches. The matchmaker pairs you with vehicles of +/- 1 BR of your max BR vehicle in your lineup. So the tiger 2 H can only see 5.7 (where it's just OP as hell) all the way to 7.7. There are 2 possible reasons you encountered the T-10M: you either brought a higher BR vehicle in your lineup or your squadmate brought a higher BR vehicle in his lineup.
I think you forgot 2 vehicles. T-54 1947 (i think its the 47) it has pretty decent ufp angling and the turret can be wonky at times. The other tank is the T-10A a rarer tank but you still occasionally see them and they can be difficult to deal with.
I tried to figure out how you are not being able to pen a T29/30/34 when you have vehicles like AMX M4, Charioteer, ELC unless your lineup is 5.7-6.0 in which you're gonna have difficulty in killing them. Here's my tips as US main at 6.7, try to get close to them, preferably flanking, to get to their side and aim at the center of the turret, aim the hull under the center of turret or the left cheek if possible as those are the spot where the ammo were kept, especially the left cheek as they are the first ammo stage rack. Unless your vehicles has a good shell with more than 200mm, avoid their visibility as much as possible, specifically when they are hulldown and at medium range and further.
This depends on what vehicle you are using, This video is specifically from a Tiger II perspective, and also it does depend on how far you are away from them as well.
I don't remember really well, I killed many Is3 or 6 in a single match from the long distance as a sniper with Leopard 1 tank by using AP shells, but took many shots to destroy and penetrate the roof of the tank. Is6's weak spot is front driver's beneath armor
It's true that the L7 has a much easier time dealing with them, but from the intro I made, this video was from the perspective of a Tiger II being uptiered.
The Tiger II has a flat 185 mm turret cheek. Literally the ONLY soviet tank that doesn't have enough Pen to go through it reliably at 500 meters and one-shot it is the T-38-85 and T-44. Sounds like you suffer from a MASSIVE case of skill issue.
@@Losowy If German players don't angle then why do you struggle penning the turret of the Tiger II? Sounds like skill issue. You just clowned yourself with one comment, good job. Also I main France and now going down the Japanese techtree. Soviet players followed by American are hands-down the least skilled in this game. You can try gaslighting the German players as much as you want but it's true; you're way worse than them - especially at top tier.
Them things are annoying, the front of the hull is quite resistant to the long 88, and the turret is extremely trolly to deal with, I'll see if I can do something with that in the future.
@@SeanFicken I'm German and nearly choked when I read it 😅 my name isn't any better though, my first name is very similar to Casper and my last name is that of a car brand
bs? the tiger 2 has only been downtiered, whereas the is-6 has been so overtiered over the past updates that it constantly faces apfsds and TOW missiles, even though the Is-6 was designed and built in '43.
Idk what world ya living on but playing the Tiger II at 6.7 gets uptiered to 7.3 and sometimes.. just sometimes 8.0 This happens a lot more then i prefer it did. And once i see a T10, its basically game over because most situations just have em hauling ass at me. I can go as far as saying the T10 is the bane for a Tiger II. IS-3 isnt so bad. Also the Tiger II(H) hasn't been down tiered. If anything they have upped its BR, mostly relating to the (P) version and then the Tiger I's almost got stuck in the same boat but they reverted it back to 5.7 and 6.0 for the Tiger I "E" I mean shit, the Kugelblitz for some reason is at 7.0, that really takes the cake for some pretty shitty situations. We could easily blame this on Gaijns issue with BR compression. @@intechio9013
I'll always say this... Playing warthunder in 2024 as Soviet is a joke... Unless you reach br 9,7 the Russians will sufffer sooo much they get killed by everything and everyone they have been uptiered all the tanks and they lost all their dread and rep... They where scary in their old BR but gayjin keeps nerfing and uptering the tanks
