100,000 people got stuck on this shitty part because we're apparently supposed to see small glowing red parts while being shot from every fucking direction. Thanks for the video.
Yeah, and I was also trying to figure out what he meant by "second platform!" Did that mean for me to get to the second platform , shoot the tanks' second platform, or shoot the platform above/below the tank to make it collapse? Mother fuckers.
UGH. Too gimmicky and unclear what you're supposed to do here. I thought the wheels were red because, well, it's a 'Red' tank and they painted it red, lol. And seeing that sniper rifle, I figured, hey, maybe they're hinting that these are anti-tank rifles like they had in WWI and WWII so I just kept waiting for it to pierce the armor. Not to mention the confusion of "SECOND PLATFORM...GO!" But thanks to the uploader for the hint! Now, back to the fight!
OMG, I was shooting at the gunner, because it had a hit marker everytime you shot it. And instead of screaming 'Shoot the damn wheels things' or someting like that, the only thing you get is 'Second Platform, go'. But thanks for the video.
Right? Like, thanks Miller for giving me super cryptic info. I guess "Second Platform" = take the sniper rifle and then shoot parts off the tank - in order mind you - to blow it up? If the sniper rifle was an RPG and just doing damage to the tank was all that was necessary it would've make 10000000% more sense.
I think the "glowing red: shoot this" mechanic was used earlier in the game, when you're taking down the giant mutant bear mom. The scampering monsters jump on her at times, time slows, her back glows red, and you're supposed to shoot there. But yeah, the mechanic was not used nearly enough for it to be obvious.
In all honesty, and seven years later from your comment apparently, I'm just now playing the Redux version of the series and the gameplay is pretty garbage. The shooting sucks, the stealth sucks. It's like it doesn't know if it wants to be a survival horror or a FPS. That said, the narrative adventure is really awesome and I definitely don't regret playing. I'm just sort of looking at these games as walking-sim type games rather than survival horror FPS that they want to be.
@@MakoHazard Thats where Metro Exodus makes up for these series. I definitely agree with you on Redux being pretty garbage but I love the Dark One story lline.
@@FrostySnipinator tbh it wasnt that bad of an ending, though the first one wsa alott better, the one in metro 2033, that one was fucking difficult for me.
Geeze... This would have been obvious... IF I saw the red... I was too busy shooting the main gun and the people arming it with what appeared to be an Anti Tank rifle. Thanks for this video! :D
Hell had they not said "second platform" I know I would have figured this one out. I kept trying to find my way down! Ugh! Oh well, the worst is over. That was a terrible setup there.
yeah, wtf was that.... and hoenstly you had dinamite as well, so i was like trowing 100dinamites at it, honestly it should of have worked better than just shooting the wheels
this fucking game man. it's a great game but it expects you to complete things with mechanics it doesn't specify in the slightest. 5th time I've had to look something up in this game, after getting stuck for an hour.
+homemadevideos1794 Same here not to mention the PS4 port of this game is littered with bugs. Ive had to restart the same checkpoints so many times due to crashes and shit just not wanting to load. The Metro Redux pack stardet out real good then it turned out bad I never wanted to hurry up and finish a game like I did this one. Between this tank and the forest bear it was the worst lol.
I always feel like shit when i need search a tutorial on internet to complete a level in a game, i hate that but the game dont explain and i tried a lot.. now i see it was so obvious and simple i feel like a noob shit
Really poor game design imo, I shot the "wheel bar" with my own sniper rifle (not the same kind as found near the ammo crate) and it didn't do anything. Guess I'll have to try again.
Yep, turns out you HAVE to use that specific sniper rifle... And the game doesn't tell you that in any way. It just keeps shouting about "the second platform, GO!!" when there is nowhere to go. Really poor design :/
rukis1bitchz Why are you addressing me with that? I agree with him - the ending where you have to use a specific sniper rifle is poorly designed because if you have one in your inventory already it's natural that you would try to use that instead.
@@subjectdelta17 in their defense the game is just a remastered version not a reboot so the mechanics and all that is the same as the original last light and its pretty old since the original last light has the same mechanics as 2033 which came out wayyyy back
Thanks. I love the lack of hand holding in this game, but c'mon. Could have had someone say 'shoot the wheels' or even 'disable it'. I kept tyring to shoot the operators.
I fucking knew it. It was some completely new, bullshit mechanic like this. 5 deaths in a row with no clear indication of what to do. It's ironic because I hate having my hand held in games and to have shit spelled out for me all the time, but holy hell with all the disruptions and all the flashes of light and bullets the devs assumed people would easily notice this? Had to freaking google this shit, now that is sad. Thanks for the advice at any rate.
Wow that's much easier than I though. The skeptical general, whatever his name was, kept shouting to go to the "far platform," and to the left of where the Rangers were fighting lies what looks like a mini gun behind a raised wall. Thought maybe my copy had a glitch or something. Thanks for clearing this up!
So you have to use THAT sniper rifle, I was carrying one into the battle and after shooting all of my ammo at the bar, nothing happened. Shot it once with the rifle on the ground, and bam, it works.
Shit i didn't even notice the wheel thing was glowing haha thanks but also that isn't the only time something's glown red in the game as you said, it also did it on that giant bear mutant thing in the forest not too long ago
Well "Shot red things" was use a few time before, with the little Dark One vision... But it is far far different from the currant use... They should have giving you a vision effect are something to indicate what to shoot, like "Shoot the bar between the wheels, Artyom!"
Agreed, you don't only have to kill the "bar" between the wheels, you have to shoot the wheels to and then the tank will be standing "on the ground" instead of on wheels ... THEN you'll be able to shoot the cannon!
Yo! Just beat the game literally one minute ago on Ranger-Hardcore. Thanks for the tutorial. lol two years later and it's still helping people. Did they redo this part in the redux? Anyone know? They should have if they didn't.
@WikiGameGuides Actually, the "shoot red" mechanic was shown way before this; when the little dark one shows you the red enemies ... when the bear has red on its back when it's stunned. I only failed this the first time because you got a hit-marker when you shot the turret so I thought I was damaging the tank, which is clearly not the case.
The last hour of Metro Last Light is probably one of the hardest FPS games I've ever played. It just has tons of cheap moments of getting shot in every direction. I also play games on the hardest settings.
Thanks for the video, I had no idea what to do to take it down. I was just shooting the barrel of the tank and all over, Metro seems to do this a lot, it just makes you figure some random thing you haven't tried before out just on the fly.
i figured it out because the rifle on the ground use a vertical box magazine unlike the sniper rifle that uses the horizontal one, so i grab it and it was an anti material rifle.
Did this too. Thought I would miss something obvious since ranger hardcore doesn't show you any hints and shit. But I never thought it was THAT obvious.
Thank you very much for this post. I just kept shooting and shooting at the tank. I did get to the turret part once but never got back to it. Now i can finish the game.
Thanks for the help friend, wore while shooting with the sniper only to the part where the missile launchers & this did not work lol and I was getting frustrated!
Thanks for the tip I though i saw that orange glow on the wheels but didn't pay attention to it thinking it was part of the graphics, i mean just heat, it's riddiculious knowing i spent my whole time throwing waves of 5 dynamites at it until the crate was empty from it, until i caught a rocket in the head, all thoses explosions i done on the tank are surely more powerful than a sniper bullet lmao
it's not really bad if you die a few times to it. Frankly if you take a calm look at the whole thing, it's glowing red, like weak points on the bear's back.
Thanks man, I was proper thrown off by Miller yelling something about a second platform. I thought he meant I had to climb up something and board the tank. Awesome game though, can't wait for Exodus!
All Metro games are Epic, this game is a must play ..and man playing or survival hardcore is the best full METRO experience ,didnt play a game like this in years .
Yeah I thought maybe there was another area to get to to hit the gunner from above after Khan kept shouting second platform gooooooooo!!!!! But now I realize the tank is on the second platform. Also, I used my RPK and regular sniper to shoot that bar off the first time but couldn’t get the wheels. And I saw the sniper but thought it was like mine, didn’t realize it was an anti-material rifle. Thanks for the short guide man.
this "red bar" is absolutely not congruent with the definition of "Glowing", and what's killing me is that I did try shooting wheels but without any clue what so ever as to what you're supposed to shoot from the characters, I could have spent a 1000 years shooting that thing and never find it. Great job devs ! 👍
The thing that confused me most, was when the guy said. Artyom second platfrom go. I thought there would be another floor with a badass weapon or smthng. Thanks a lot tough.
I spent the last half hour trying to get a peek on the guy shooting the cannons and I was sure I'm missing something because I used up almost all of the ammo. It's tough when you are spoon-fed the whole game and the finally you gotta figure out what to do! lol! Thanks for this..
Could not even get my camera to hold still enough to see tank wheels. It was like I was being shot at to no end. Now that I know what to look for maybe I can beat that damned tank. Thanks!
Thank you but don't make the mistake I did. This isn't a sniper rifle. It's an anti tank rifle with a scope. I already had a sniper rifle equipped and it won't break the bar in time. I've not seen this weapon before but it breaks everything in 4 hits. One for the bar, two for the wheels and one for the turret.
Not to be pedantic but there is one more instance (that I can think of) where things glow red for you to shoot in this game and that it not long before this in the mutant bear fight when you have to shoot its back. But in that fight the dark one tells you it protects its back making it more obvious. I didn't hear anything like this on the tank fight hens why I'm here. Thanks
So fun fact - at least for me the ONLY sniper rifles that works for this purpose are the ones placed specifically for you to pick up and shoot at the tank with. Originally I already had a sniper rifle and ignored the additional ones provided.... exact same type of gun with the exact same type of scope... and it wouldn't work! Shot the bar a thousand times over three or four attempts at the tank and it ignored my bullets. Finally tried swapping to one of the other (identical) sniper rifles - and suddenly it worked! Very annoying. It's like those sniper rifles were specifically tagged as able to damage the tank and no other sniper rifle would do :P
You're completely right. This is the first time in this game that the mechanic comes up with zero explanation. The player is supposed to randomly know about the new mechanic? How annoying. Thanks for this video. Stuck here forever.
I kept failing because I kept getting hit markers on the turret and kept focusing on that as it seemed to be the only part that seemed to take damage. turns out that was completely wrong the whole time. so yeah definitely thanks for making this video.
-Not one, but two sniper rifles beside ammo crate, so take both because probably need them. Check -Snipe tank support squad outside of locomotive. Check -Shooting off wheel coupler on loco-tank. Check -Trying to snipe the turrent gunners that are lined up in my sights. No luck! WTF?! Fail -Dying multiple times before having to RU-vid what to do. CHECK Lame. I really dislike game designers that throw you straight into the shite whilst not providing enough clues, so you waste extra time and start getting angry! I had no idea about the f'ing red wheels because I didn't notice they were red when my character's blood kept getting in his eyes! Thank you for these videos to provide value to the internet. Oh, and a tip for the next battle scene when you'll be hopping over the embankment cover to dig in for another fight... don't waste bullets with the gatling gun right off the bat because you'll need that firepower when the enemy advances closer. Either let your mates take out the lone armored gunners or shoot up those gunners with another weapon in the meantime.
Yeah I think I must have tried this part like 15 times trying to destroy that tank. I literally threw about 40 grenades constantly on a few of my attempts lol. Thanks for the help man.
Aw thank god! i never commented before but this well, been trying to figure it out for ages and you got it fast and easy. gerat job. plus didnt have to go through whole level which was great!
I tried it all. Sniping the gunners, the drivers, the ammunition itself, all the additional soldiers, even random shit above the tank thinking something might fall and crush it. Nada. Really though, hitting the ammo rack should have sealed their fate.
