We demonstrate how you may be pushing more voltage than is safe into your CPU or SOC, done by measuring at the socket of an R5 2400G Raven Ridge APU.

This content follows-up on our "how to kill your motherboard" video, focusing instead on the process of killing an integrated memory controller in an APU or Ryzen CPU. This also applies to Intel CPUs, though the voltages and motherboards are obviously different. The main concepts remain the same, though, so everyone can benefit from this topic.
Anyway, we demonstrate how the HWINFO (software) reading of voltage is inconsistent with the socket reading, and that the two can be a large enough gap to cause damage or degradation of the IMC over time. This is done by checking SOC voltage with a multimeter vs. with software. We also use this to demonstrate the difference between SOC voltage and APU GFX voltage, further leveraging the point to talk about "safe voltages" for Ryzen & Raven Ridge overclocking.
