To calculate how i divide the sts for the raglan i like to divide the total number of stitches by three (48/3=16) and then divide the result by two to figure out how many sts i have for the sleeves (16/2=8). It’s the same but its seems easier to calculate so I’m leaving it here in case anyone thinks the same!
Pinning this for people to reference! (I apparently just make math more complicated than it is lol) still do some rounding when needed! thank u so much for commenting :)
I'm here knitting a light blue top with my brand new needle and I found this video. It feels like we're together talking about our projects. Feels like company.
ik you said this would knit up quick, but I didn't think it would be THAT FAST OMG- it took me almost 2 days to make a cropped shirt (I ran out of yarn right when I had to finish the second sleeve 😑) IT WAS SO CUTE AND SIMPLE! but I love the guide sm I was always intimidated by raglan & the video made it so much easier! I'm super excited to make even more tops, sweaters, and shrugs with this guide I can't thank you enough and I can't wait for more content from you!
wow this comment was so so thoughtful 🤍 thank u so much for watching and i’m so happy that you were able to use my guide to help you create a piece of your own!! and i love that it inspires you to create even more! ☺️ if you want to you can DM a pic to me on instagram i’d love to see it :)
this video is so clear, ive always avoided learning raglan because it's usually only explained in the context of specific patterns and i prefer to design my own garments to fit the yarn/needles i happen to have to work with. i am so grateful i now can use this technique, thank you!!
first of all, you're the sweetest most beautiful girl I've ever seen, im in love now. secondly, the fact that you thought of the people starting knitting that might need a tutorial like this for this kind of project gives me heart flutters because I've been looking for this tutorial FOR EVER !! i think this will be the time i actually successfully knit a raglan sweater and lord knows I've attempted it so many times before that i thought i was done trying thank you so much 😭😭
This video was super helpful. I love figuring out projects without a full on pattern and this gave me just enough guidance to figure out raglan for the first time. Thank you💜
YAY i’m the same way so i’m glad that it gave you some guidance :) i like leaving it open for people to have some creative freedom!! thanks for watching 🤍
Hi Kait! I know this tutorial has been posted for a while now, but I wanted to thank you for creating and posting this video as it is the easiest sweater pattern I have found that has immensely helped me in knitting my first sweater! It is so helpful and easy to follow which was amazing. Having finished my first sweater with this pattern, I can't wait to continue to follow this tutorial for my future knitted garment projects! Thank you
Thank you so much for this tutorial!!! It really helps me knitting a raglan sweater. The tip with the two colours yarn stitch marker and how to divide the stitches for the increase parts are really helpful ❤
I loved your tutorial. I am a beginner knitter and your tutorial was amazing! I love that you admit to making mistakes but taught me the basics to accomplish a garment that I would really wear. Thank you
Thank you for explaining it so well! I’ve always been a little intimidated by top down sweaters but I’m just breezing through it. I’m already planning to make a few more after I’m done with this one! Thank you so much again!
Your videos are my daily dose of inspiration, and I'm addicted! You're not just motivating, you're downright mesmerizing. Keep being your amazing self! 💫😘
i've just finished the body after only a few days! i've had to restart a few times just cos of stupid mistakes loll but it looks so good. you should definitely do a video just on different sleeves!
Beautiful video!! Very informative and well done. I often knit 2-3 extra stitches each side of the live stitches when I pick up armholes then decrease them over the next few rows as one extra on each side is not always enough.
I always remember M1L and M1R like this: M1L : -L-eft and -F-ront L and F are the same type of letter (tall and straight) M1R : -R-ight and -B-ack R and B are the same type of letter (round and curved)
First time knitting after years of crochet, it's really easy to follow but I chose 4mm needles, I am in pain. 50 rows and I'm halfway through my increases... Thank you for the video !
For long form content I 10/10 recommend the H3 podcast!! The videos are very long and rlly funny (majority of the humor is inside jokes so it’s great for binge watching episodes and understanding each joke the more you watch
oooooo i’ll have to check it out! i loooooove longer podcasts when i’m working on stuff for long periods of time ☺️ then i don’t have to search for new episodes as often
Hello!! thank you so much for all your insight! I’m so happy you enjoyed the video 🫶 I can’t wait to see you create your own :) pls send me pictures if you do!! 🤍 thanks so much for watching, subbing, AND following on IG it means the world to me ily 🌷
Tysm for the easy tutorial, i feel like this was the only raglan tutorial that i watched to the end because it was so entertaining🥹 how long were your needles? Im going to buy some for this project :)
Hi! I’m having some problems with the increases :( the stitch between them is really small in comparison to the others. Is there anything I can do to improve it?
this is exactly the sweater i want but i only know how to crochet 🥺 do you happen to know any pattern to make one that looks like this bc i can’t freehand 😭
I dont know an exact pattern but the construction should be the same concept! Like you'll be increasing at 4 points around the neckline to grow the sweater if that makes sense? then finishing the body and sleeves separately. you might just need to experiment depending on the stitch! hope this helps :)
This is a great question! you do not need to purl since you’re knitting in the round! essentially instead of flipping your work you’re just building on the last row so stocknitte in the round is all knit stitches! for this sweater you only need to purl on the ribbing like you said! hope this helps and lmk if you have any questions
thank you!! :) The needles will still work but may give a little bit of a different look! (tighter gauge) and you may need to adjust the number of neckline stitches but it should look similar! the saturn heart top at 0:56 (bottom left corner) was knit with 15 mm needles for reference! hope this helps DM me if you have any more questions :)
Omg I've been looking for a cute tutorial like this for so longg im gonna make a blue version of this, but i wanna ask how many grams did you use up or how many yards did one ball of yarn had? I live in a different country you see and i only have access to local yarns here😅
for this sweater you don't necessarily need to know the magic loop method! I learned it way after I started making raglans but it just makes it a little bit easier or else it's very tight! I just pull the cable through as I please and that gets the job done :)
Im new to knitting and rly want to make this sweater and if im not mistaken you made the body and arms in stockinette? You never mentioned purl rows but thats what it looked to me, idk, should i purl every other row?
good day!! where can I find the pattern by which you made this wonderful product? It is very difficult for me to do everything by ear.. if you answer me, I will be very grateful to you!! thanks in advance!
is it possible to knit this whole thing with 9 mm needles or will it come out wayy too small? first time knitter and trying to use what i have before buying new needles!
you can definitely! just knit a gauge swatch before hand to determine how many stitches you need to cast on in the beginning! Just know that it might take a lot longer since you have smaller needles
tysm for this tutorial! sorry im very much a beginner in knitting, are the circle needles essential or would straight ones work? (Im assuming they probably don’t?)
hi!! this has been on my to make list for quite a while and i dont know if you do mention but does it matter the size of the yarn you use? or can it be anything cos i have scraps i can use i just wanted to double check just in case.
Aaa I'm in the same situation and I have no idea! Have you tried it? I'm in the UK so it's even more difficult to know if the yarn I have would be ok :/
no i havent tried it yet! lifes been a bit hectic at the moment lol. i'm also in the UK, where do you get your yarn from? i get mine only from hobbycraft but thats only because i have no clue where else to go and im not so keen on using them anymore.
@@chaosgonewrongg Ah I hope you're doing ok! Most of my yarn is from home bargains - the double knit type - I'm not sure if it's good, I'm pretty new to knitting :')
hi! i love this tutorial sm (esp the sweater), but i just wanted to clarify, we alternate between increase rows and knit rows right? also, is it normal to have holes when making M1Ls? 😅
hello!! yes alternate increase & knit rows for the raglan increase portion :) & it depends what yarn & needles you’re using! if you’re doing a looser gauge then it might be tricky to avoid little holes due to inconsistent tension! if it bothers you a lot then switch to a tighter gauge (check the recommended needle size on your yarn label!) hope this helps!
I think it's birch! I just like to use the winder because they make center pull cakes so the yarn doesn't roll around when you use it! hope this helps :)
that's a great question! when knitting stockinette in the round you only have to do knit rows since the "right" side is always facing towards you and you're just building on top of the previous row! hope this helps
I'm trying to make this sweater and I'm wondering if anyone knows the gauge she used because the video wasn't very clear on that and I'm using n different yarn and needles then her
try making a sort of gauge swatch! I explain this method more in my "knit shorts" tutorial if you'd like to check it out! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3mjazQLWJZg.htmlsi=Yo-_K2x5Ta12Flnt&t=148
if you cant change out your cord for your needles try out the traveling loop or the magic loop method! As far as joining in the round here's a quick tutorial on that!: ru-vid.comMQXkIkMAwMI?si=oIZDu-vumc3sQ1eL Hope this helps
I'm getting confused with how you increase. Can you please post written instructions. It seems like too many increases and when i get to the end it lands on m1l?
you could but it would just look looser than what I did! I would go a size smaller but you can always experiment with the same needles too it’ll just give a slightly different look! hope this helps :)
So I'm 5 rows into increases and still the garment looks the same, its like i cannot see how the increases are playing out. is that normal and should i carry on or ive done something wrong?
when doing the portion of the sweater that is raglan increases, you will switch off increase rows and regular rows until you get to the length you want the sweater to come down on your arms (before tying off the sleeves) check out the section at 10:20 ("measuring on body/switching color") where I explain how to determine how long to do it for. Then once you tie off the sleeves, you'll be doing just regular rows until the sweater is the length you want. hope this helps!
I’m like, brand new to knitting, I started a week ago. Would this be too much for a baby knitter? It looks so so cute but I’m worried I might get in over my head 😅
I think that the sweater is pretty straightforward and can be used by beginners but with that being said I would make sure you are solid on a few things: the knit stitch, the purl stitch, casting off, and knitting in the round! :) and DM me if you need any help or have any questions!
1x1 ribbing looks a lot neater if you size down needles! that’s why I used smaller needles in the beginning. It’s not 100% necessary I just find it to be an easy way to make the final product look nicer. Hope this helps!
Do we increase before and after the orange mark after the regular row or just left increase and then after the row is done right increase? Pls someone help!
on increase rows you're starting with an increase to the left of the marker & finishing with an increase right of the marker!! after your last increase you begin the next row after the marker with no increases! hope this helps :)
