In this step by step tutorial I will show you how to add ribbing into a finished project using a knooking hook but a crochet hook can also be used. This is great if you have already finished a project but find it keeps rolling!

I’ve been dropping the stitches on my Sentro and doing the ribbing on the machine it’s good to know how to do it off the machine thanks for the lesson 🧶

@@emilysmith2784 I haven't even dared try! Too scared that I would just lose all those stitches. I've just resigned myself to not having ribbing when I use my machine.

What a clever idea. I’ve been casting off the waste yarn with a tapestry needle, then from the bottom of each piece, picking up the stitches from first row of project yarn with knitting needles, removing the waste yarn and ribbing to the bottom. Your way is probably a bit quicker.

@@emilysmith2784completed a cardigan with ribbing with the help of your technique! If it’s not too much, is there any way to create ribbing for the neckline/collar? I haven’t had any luck in figuring out how to without having to join a strip of ribbing. Please make a video on it if you have any techniques we could learn.

This is great, but I'm wondering if it's really faster than just adding ribbing manually.

If knitting by hand it’s definitely quicker to just do it as you go, for me at least. This is more of an “afterthought“ technique. It’s a great fix if you’ve knit a sweater or sleeve to the perfect length but then you have no space for ribbing.
