Learn to knit socks using the Magic Loop method of knitting in the round.
In this tutorial we will walk through each step of knitting socks on Magic Loop including: casting on and setting up, knitting a heel flap and gusset, knitting the toe, and how to close up your toe using the Kitchener Stitch.
This tutorial accompanies a written pattern that can be purchased on Ravelry & Etsy. (Links below) In the tutorial I will be knitting a size medium from this pattern. If the amounts needed for Small or Large are different from the medium I will put the info at the bottom of the screen.
Pattern is written for Small(Medium, Large) - Circumference 8-9”(9-10”, 10-11”)
A Note on Sizes: The sizes listed are based on the foot circumference and not the foot length. I recommend choosing a size that will allow for 1-2 inches of negative ease to get the best fit. You will knit the sock to the length that you need in order to fit.
If you would like to purchase the written pattern to follow along it is available for only $2.00, you can do so here:

I'm a crocheter and wanted to start knitting for so long but past attempts failed. I recently mended my grandma's socks and felt I wanna try again. So here I am at 2am, on my second round of my first ever knit project and sock. I feel so close to my grandma. 🧡

This is the best video. I have to say you can’t stress this tip enough about making sure the working yarn in thrown up and over your work when beginning each row. I don’t knit like you. I hold the yarn in my right hand and if that yarn ever gets inside that infinity loop it gets so messed up! Very important tip which I don’t think is stressed enough🤪😂Another important thing with magic loop is the set up or the framework..to realize the needles ALWAYS point to right and the working yarn always in the back, also you always pull the back yarn to knit the front needle. I know you know this but I hope this comment helps someone else like me. 😘

I started the socks at the beginning of December and finished the pair on Christmas Eve! I couldn’t believe I finished them in time. Your 9" socks knitting blew me away. I had trouble with my hands and keeping my first row seamlessly the same as the rest of the stitches. You could always tell where I started. But, when I tried the 9" needles, Oh goodness, it made them so much easier to keep all of my stitches on, uniform tension, and so much more fun. Thank you for sharing.

I purchased the yarn and needles to make socks almost 4 years ago, but was so nervous about learning Magic Loop, heel flaps, etc. I kept taking them out and looking at videos and putting them back in my knitting basket. I finally taught myself Magic Loop last fall and now knitting my first sock with this wonderful video. Half way through the heel turn. 🤞🙏

Excellent tutorial for us beginning sock knitters! I've taken multiple Craftsy classes, bought books, and watched many RU-vids on knitting socks. There was some concept surrounding the heel that I had real difficulty grasping. (Plus. I'm a newer knitter but I knew I could conquer socks, once I grasped that concept!). However, this was the cleanest, clearest set of instructions I've ever seen regarding knitting socks on Magic Loop! Thank you so very much! Now, I can knit them. Highly recommend to new sock knitters!

Wow! You have a new fan here! I’ve watched this RU-vid in parts many times and it is so helpful. I started my first sock with a pattern from another creator, and I just couldn’t make any sense out of it. To anyone looking for a great pattern that’s super clear get the Crazy Sock Lady’s pattern on Ravelry . It is so well written. I am new to sock knitting and knitting in general. Your pattern gives helpful queues all the way through to help produce a clean, professional looking sock. Thank you!

Never knitted a sock and decided to give everyone homemade socks for Xmas……first one great but struggled with the pickups on either side of heel…silly me ended up with them all on one needle……now on my 4th pair and flying through adding patterns. Thanks for your lovely stepwise instructions and I can go to parts to remind myself of a particular segments.😆😆

Thank you for your detailed tutorial. I recently started knitting. I use your same way of placing the stitches, keeping the front separate. Some time ago I bought your Rainbow connection pattern and I can’t wait to get started. ☺️

Fantastic, thank you so much. Although I’ve been knitting (mostly jumpers) for years, I’ve now knitted my first ever pair of socks with (another first ever) magic loop. Your instructions were so clear and easy to follow. Thank you.

I’ve never seen anyone weave in ends like that before! We were taught to follow the yarn path through the way that the knit stitch would have traveled. Not sure if that makes sense, but it’s the way TKGA teaches it. It does hold well for me, but your way looks easier.

Yep I’ve seen people do it that way. I was self taught and this is just what I did and it works great!
