To cast on 300 sts use a long circular needle of 80 cm / 32 inches.

Is that what I know as the ‘old Norwegian cast on’? Which type of cast off do you use? I know it’s important your cast on and bind off match well in a scarf like this so one side isn’t tighter from experience. Lovely scarf 🧣

I'll never forget my first scarf. I was 8. A friend taught me the knit stitch and I picked a vibrant red yarn and made a scarf that I wore every winter. I loved making it and to this day when I see that color I get the same buzz it gave me to make it and wear it. Love.

I have just finished knitting my "Easiest Scarf In The World". I used a variety of colors of worsted weight yarn from my stash, including both bright and muted colors to avoid a crayon box look. The scarf is 8.5" wide and 84" long. That length is OK because I am 5'9" tall and can wrap it this way and that to a comfortable length. Next time I make this scarf in worsted weight yarn I will cast on 250 stitches instead of 300. That will result in a 72" scarf. For a 60" scarf, you'd cast on 200 stitches if using worsted weight yarn. I knitted this scarf flat, using two Size 9, 40" circular needles like a pair of straight needles. This scarf was way too bulky to knit flat using only one circular needle. A most enjoyable knitting project. Thank you for the inspiration, Arne and Carlos

I'm thinking of making a table runner in this manner with perhaps a cotton yarn or blend. Something washable on delicate cycle since I hope to have the 4 little grandchildren around the table again soon! I started the scarf using my scraps. It's like a walk down memory lane. It took the entire 300 plus stitches for me to figure out what I'd made with a certain beautiful purple yarn. I finally remembered that it was used for a spiral scarf, my first experience with short rows. I overestimated my long tail so I kept casting on beyond the 300. One of these rows, I'll actually count them! This is a fun project, especially one I can put down and pick up when I'm waiting for yarn to arrive for a project. Thanks Arne & Carlos!

this technique is amazing...i once crocheted an "Apache Trail of Tears" blanket with the technique of starting every row on the right of the rs and leaving enough yarn on both ends to tie together at the end of the project....also don't forget you want to leave each end at least 12 inches/30 cm so that you can have enough yarn to trim....do this for any knitted or crochet project that has fringe on the sides

I love this idea - already thinking off all my small balls of sock yarn leftovers. But with fingering weight I’ll need a lot more than 300 stitches!!! Always an enjoyable start to my Sunday to see you two. ❤️from🇨🇦

Guys! Guys! Now I have another WIP! 😆 You are nearly wearing this poor Great Grandmother out with your fabulous ideas. I'm STILL working on a Twinned Knitting hat, a brioche scarf, a pair of socks, and now The Simplest Scarf in the World! You keep me going, but when will I find time for the Easter Eggs on the horizon? ❤️👵🏻❤️

Kelly Nickles, you keep knitting so your great grand babies will have your art (which is a piece of your heart) to pass down your other generations

That is a VERY COOL looking scrarf!!! Very unique looking!!! Looks far more intricate and advanced than a simple garter stitch. Great project for ANY skill level!!! Also an amazing project to use up scrap yarn and/or express yourself with colors. Awesome job, and THANK YOU for posting this!!!

I have the Prym I-cord maker and so glad for the demo,, I would like to make loops for the new Easter Eggs we will be starting next week. Also I want to thank you so much for introducing Prym on your podcast. In my 60 plus years of knitting I have acquired almost every kind of knitting needles available and now I can honestly say their needles are the easiest to knit with of all. I am currently knitting a sweater on the circular needles and what a difference they make. So again I am so glad I ordered them.
