Yes, we have to believe in Jesus to go to Heaven, but I don’t think that’s what Pastor Yankee is arguing. I should look up the verse (Matthew I believe), but the passage says that those who committed sin unknowingly will only be punished a little, but those who sinned knowingly will be punished much more. So I think, albeit saved, we may still face punishment.

Unfortunately you've bought into his "easy grace" perversion of the gospel. Easy grace says just trust - faith alone - that Jesus paid for all your sins on the cross and you'll be instantly "saved." But Jesus did not tell His disciples to preach "faith alone" or "faith + nothing = salvation." He told them to preach repentance and remission of sins: "Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem." (Luke 24:45-47) Fact is, our sins were not "all paid for, past, present and future" when Jesus died. Our sins remain, *not paid for and not blotted out,* unless we come to repentance: confessing and forsaking sin: "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord" (Acts 3:19, NKJV). In fact, without repentance, you'll pay for your sins yourself. Jesus said "except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish" (Luke 13:5). Yes, Jesus died for our sins as stated in 1 Corinthians 15:3. He made His death available, to cover the death penalty we've already earned as the "wages" our sin. We can have that coverage - that redemption - IF we'll obey and come to God on His terms, confessing and forsaking sin: "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy." (Proverbs 28:13)

N8 44 hi ! I’m not super religious or anything like that , but I believe if you have done wrong and are truly sorry and truly regret it , you will go to heaven . (: because God forgives basically anything . But I believe it’s only if you are truly sorry .

Jai Harris, What you have written here is completely incongruous. You stated that you believe Jesus Christ died for you and then concluded "I hope I make it into Heaven." If Jesus died for you, and God has forgiven all your sins, can you tell me what you think could keep you our of Heaven? And, by the way, Do you think God would also be perfect if he didn't forgive any of our sins?

"Repent" in the Greek means to change your mind -- furthermore it is used correctly many times throughout the OT and NT (even including instances of someone repenting unto a bad thing) However the most solid evidence for this (despite it being unnecessary) is Jonah 3:10 KJV "And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not." A turning from evil here is considered works when it clearly states salvation is not of works (Eph 2:8-9) Moreover we have God repenting, and he is without sin, therefore and derived from context we conclude "Repent" means to change your mind

If keeping in sin meant a loss of salvation, then you sound like the sect of the Pharisees who were believers, who said keeping the law maintained salvation Acts 15:5 -- But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses. These were rebuked That is works, whether you like it or not -- don't speak with a fork-tongue And we do not believe God doesn't care whether we sin -- he does, hence Hebrews 12 where he talks about chastising sons. SJ, You need to consider the questions Paul answering in Romans 6. The questions recorded in verse one are not about justification or being delivered from the penalty of sin but about whether it is possible for God's people to go on practicing sin. Paul's answer is that it is not possible because Jesus has delivered his people from the bondage of sin. Even the verse you quoted says that we are not bondslaves to sin but bondslaves to righteousness. Is it your view that Jesus failed in the purpose for which he died? Paul wrote, "Who gave himself for us that ["in order that" introducing a purpose clause] he might redeem [set free by the payment of a ransom price] us from all lawlessness and purify for himself a people for himself, zealous for good works." It is my view that the application of his redemptive accomplishments effects that purpose. It is not simply a possibility but a realized but an actuality. Re: my statement about union with Christ, I am referring to Paul's argument that if believers are united to Christ so that when he died, he died for us so also when he died we died with him. All that we have spiritually as believers we have because God has called us into union or fellowship with his Son. 1 Cor. 1:9. If you would like me to explain further, I will be happy to. Re: 1 Cor. 3, Paul was not speaking about believers in general in that passage but about those who are engaged in the work of proclaiming the gospel. One of the main things that causes so much confusion and division in Christianity today is, not recognizing that the warnings in the bible were to those under the law back then, so they could be saved from the soon to come fiery judgement against unbelieving Jews, Jerusalem, and the temple with animal sacrifice that came in 70AD, which brought the Old Covenant age to an end. It was the *time of the end* NOT *the end of time!* HUGE DIFFERENCE. It was the end of the Old Covenant world. The reason they had to persevere in belief to the end of that age, was for the obvious practical purpose of avoiding the 70AD judgement. Because if they remained under the law or went back under the law, they would face the judgement in 70AD. They needed to be watching for His coming in 70AD. The sign was when Jerusalem was surrounded by enemy forces and when they saw that sign, they were to flee to the mountains. And if they were not sober they could possibly miss it and be destroyed! Luke 21:20-24 20And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. 21Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. *22For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.* A Jewish historian recorded that no believers died in the 70AD destruction, because they all fled to the mountains outside of Jerusalem. The writer of Hebrews said that Christ died *FOR THE SINS COMMITTED UNDER THE FIRST COVENANT.* We were not under the first Covenant. Hebrews 9:15 ...For Christ died to set *THEM* free from the penalty of the sins *THEY had committed UNDER THAT FIRST COVENANT.* We did not commit sins under that first Covenant. Also...Jesus said... He was *ONLY* sent to the lost sheep of the house of Isreal. That is not us. Matthew 15:24 But He answered and said, *"I was sent ONLY to the lost sheep of the house of Isreal."* Acts 5:31 He is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior, *TO GRANT REPENTANCE to ISRAEL, and FORGIVENESS of SINS.* It's all about ISRAEL... not us. Also... Paul said... *Jesus was sent TO REDEEM THOSE WHO WERE UNDER THE LAW.* Galatians 4:4-5 4But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, *BORN UNDER THE LAW, 5So that He might REDEEM THOSE WHO WERE UNDER THE LAW...* We were never under the law. Romans 3:19 Now we know that whatever the law says, *IT SAYS TO THOSE WHO ARE UNDER THE LAW...* Psalm 147:19-20 19He declares His word to *JACOB,* His statutes and judgments to *ISRAEL.* 20He has done this for *NO OTHER NATION;* they do not know His judgments Hallelujah! THAT'S WHY I will punish YOU because of YOUR sins.* The second Covenant was ONLY for the ones under the first Covenant, those under the law. That would be Israel. Only Israel was under the law. Hebrews 8:10 For this is the *COVENANT* that I will make *WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL...* We were never under a Covenant at all. This is fantastic news for us. God's love, mercy and grace is much greater than we ever thought possible. I believe the Parable of the lost sheep is a picture of God's love for ALL people ever created. The house of Isreal represents the one lost sheep. They were the ONLY ONES that needed to be redeemed from the curse of being under the first Covenant law. Luke 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save *THAT WHICH WAS LOST.* Apparently not ALL were lost, right? *That's why Jesus said He was ONLY sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.* Amos 3:1-2 *1People of ISRAEL,* I rescued you from Egypt. Now listen to my judgment against you. 2 Of all NATIONS on earth, *you are the ONLY ONE I HAVE CHOSEN. Romans 5:13 For until the law sin was in the world: *BUT SIN IS NOT IMPUTED WHEN THERE IS NO LAW.* Romans 4:8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord *WILL NOT IMPUTE SIN.* *We are blessed because we are not under the law and our sin is not imputed to us!* Never has been and never will be! God says you are so wrong He has many verses in His word that say the contrary like these verses. 1 John 5:12-13 He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may KNOW that you have eternal life. Dear Palm Branch, I thought this might be a help to you. If you are to go to Heaven then you will KNOW this in your heart, you will not have to say I don’t know but you will be able to say I KNOW. If you want to have your sins forgiven and you tell God in all sincerity that you are sorry for sinning against Him and that you will try hard not to sin anymore. We cannot stop sinning the Bible says, just the thought of foolishness is Sin (all sin is against God) and again if you mean it with all your heart (remember God knows your heart) at this time you will also need to know that Jesus loved you so much that He went to the cross to die for you. If you believe that Jesus died for YOU then you will be saved. You cannot believe He died for you if you are believing in the person that told you that Jesus died for you unless that person was God himself through His Word (The Bible). Then and only then you must rest on what God says, and that is “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be Saved” This is Salvation and if you do this you can ONLY go to Heaven not the other place. You see if you truly believe all this in your heart God himself will give you that assurance of going to Heaven. Knowing in your heart that it was not because of any good that you have done but ONLY because of the love Jesus that He loved you so very much that He thought of Palm Branch person personally (yes, He did over 2,000 years ago) and said I am going to take your punishment even before He went to the Cross and then He did go to the Cross and suffered more than you and I could imagine and their He gave His life. That was not the end He then rose again and is now waiting for you Palm Branch Person only if you will believe He did this for YOU. This was the hardest part for me because I believed all this even as a young Child (I am now 72) but I was not saved for Heaven, it was only when I was around the age of 30, I realized that by me not RESTING on this (Gods Word) when God makes this very clear in His Word the Bible. So, for me not to be resting on what He said in His word for all those years I was calling God a liar. The moment I rested on what God had been telling me those many years, it was at this time God Himself gave me that assurance that I had been looking for so long, the assurance that I am now a child of God and I without question (I do not doubt anymore) I will be in Heaven with my Lord and Savior for all the many ages of Eternity, not because of any good in me but because He Loved Me SO! (All of the things I have spoken to you about in this letter I can back it up by giving you Scripture and verse.)
