My krieg army has trench bases and the amount of coffee stirrers I've cut is easily in the hundreds. I went for a more uniform plank setup and added the grain of the wood by slicing into it with a knife.
Love this. Will be doing something similar when my Krieg arrive but with a dusting of snow on top. Seeing your army at the end is inspiring me to expand already, they look fantastic.
I usually have my planks neatly together but still great a tip for the half destroyed trench base I burn the edges with a lighter to make it like like it was burnt by plasma or something of that sorts.
Buy a tube of wall filler spackle, mix it with sand, dirt or whatever you like, brown color and some woodglue and you got yourself a perfect basing paste!
I’m a bit of an average painter overall, but do like to go to town with my basing as it can really add to the model’s overall appearance by so much. These are stunning and take what are clearly well painted models to the next level and then some. You’ve done an incredible job, and I totally intend to copy these with my Krieg models. Thanks for sharing.
Love the way these look and /KINDA/ managing to follow along, but the sound on this video is really hurting my head; anyone else? Sounds like 90% of the sound is bass
@@MediocreHobbies I've been stealing so many coffee stirrers for my DKOK Kill Team in preparation ;) Just wanted to make sure it was part of the video and not just me setting my PC up weird
This looks absolutely incredible! Never have I subscribed faster to a channel. This looks amazing! I really wanted to make Krieg my 3rd army with which I really wanna focus on the Aesthetic and have them be my "parade" army, and this is such a perfect litte tip!! Thank you so much. How did you go about making the massive base for the Earthshakers? Looks menacing!
If you look up the base size for a forgeworld dreadsaurion. You will see it is a size gamesworkshop doesn’t make. I ordered some mdf once of Etsy and when it came to This project it was perfect. Thank you so much for your kind words. Means allot.
@@MediocreHobbies I was going to ask the same question on the barbed wire and other accessories to liven up the bases. Is there a brand you'd recommend? I've been searching and can't seem to find anything like this, but I may not be searching properly.
Replying to my own comment here to say I found some barbed wire from Green Stuff World but I'm not sure if it comes with the posts. If not, how'd you get those fence posts you used? Did you make them? Thanks!
Not a silly question at all! I just use glue! Some people use pins but it's not something I've ever felt the need for. The models stick super well to the basing!
Again as always amazing stuff, i will for sure be trying something like this 😊 O akso illike to gove bases to most things even tanks for teo reasons I don't want things to get all scratched and dinged up muxh, adds more to the tank also doesnt need to be much bigger than thr tank even a little bit going around the sides is fine, again if i make a good paint job i want to keep it looking well ha
That’s a good thing! I think that can be a part of the story of your tanks/army! I do like bases on some tanks, I just don’t have the patience to do it but I appreciate seeing it in other armies! Glad you liked the results from the video and let me know if you use it for a tank-would love to see that!
Hey Buddy looking to something similar but want an urban rubble look what paints would you suggest for a darker version of the above? Using astrogranite Debris for the technical part thanks in advance
I would like to use 25mm bases for my Krieg minis but maybe these are to smal. Would 32mm bases work better for this technic? Or is there problem with the 40K rules when I use a bigger base then usual?
Depends who you play or if your going to tournaments. This technique does work on 25mm bases I have done it. But I also put my entire Vostroyans on 32mm bases to stop them falling over and scratching. Up to you pal.
Ive done same sort of thing to build a wooden bridge and a pair of heavy arched doors agrax earthshade stains tbe wood so well more coats thd deeper the colour gets
@@playfulruss4227 most of the time I just use some match stick sticks but for this i used some model I beam made from plastic card. But it in any train of model shop.
I found your video because I had ten kitbashed Death Korps proxies to base. Stargrave & Wargames Atlantic. Next day they are all fixed to trench bases ready for priming. You inspired me to hobby action. 😁
