Still flaring a little high. Try to start even lower, but plan to add brakes more aggressively. Ensure you extend brakes as far as you can reach even slump your shoulders roll your wrists every fraction of an inch for maximum brake input PRIOR to touchdown. I always use the analogy of "How high would you be willing to jump off of something with your motor on your back?" A garage roof? No...A picnic table or the tailgate of a pick up truck? Maybe but not likely. How about a 5 gallon bucket? Now we're talking. Somewhere between that picnic table and that 5 gallon bucket height is about where you should be starting your flare. Sure looks like a nice spot to fly from!!!

The music is either too loud or your voice is too quiet. Super good visually and I really appreciate the support to stop my face plant landings😂

@@chrisc3998 I'd agree with the above statement. The audio in the air is good but not on the ground. I don't know anything about making RU-vid videos but I'm just guessing if you had a better mic on the ground all would be good. Great video tho. I don't fly yet but I'd really like to get into this sport. I have 8 solo skydiving jumps. I nailed the first landing and was stoked. I thought "man that was easy". Then my landings got worse and worse haha. Stay humble I guess

Thanks for posting. A couple things.... Don't leave your wing bag in the middle of the runway. Sure way to piss of the GA pilots. Sucking it up in a prop would be really expensive for them. They already hate us enough. Unless you own this airport, then by all means. 2nd, you are flaring too early as others have said. Dont think of where your hands are on the brakes, instead think of the pressure you are applying for where you are in the flare. This was my lightbulb moment.

Really Appreciate the comment. Fortunately this was not an airport, but a field that a farmer let me have a small piece of as a landing spot, so I am the only one to use it. When I do go to an airport, if I put my bag out, I always have someone on the ground to move it if a GA guy is in the area, but that is a great point of not leaving your bag in the middle of a runway. That is a great tip about thinking more about pressure than hand position. I will have to try switching my thought process a bit, but it may just be that Ahahhh moment for me as well. Thanks for the comment:) truly appreciated.

@chrisc3998 nice LZ! 👌 looks like a runway to me. Keep the videos coming!

Very nice and useful! When landing like you do in the video, I often panic a bit, worried that I am going to overshoot the LZ. The result is a long walk to the car (landing too far away), of even an unnecessary go-around. Am I the only one and does anyone have tips? Thanks!

That is a great question. I am actually working on a video to try and help with this. I have been a bit hesitant to post it because I am still not that great at spot landing yet. The biggest thing is to dial in your glide slope for your wing and be able to judge your height. This comes with time and practice. There is a technique where you can point your toe at where you want to land and then line your toe up with where you want to land. As you descend if your toe starts to go below the spot you want to land than you are to low. If your toe is above the spot you want to land you are too high. If your toe stays on the spot you want to land then you should be able to get pretty close to where you want to land. Give that a try and see if it helps:)

@@chrisc3998 Thanks for that, I'll start practising!
@warrenkral6562

Overshooting was my biggest fear too early on. Learn your glideslope. Focus on the 5ft circle area on the ground that is neither rising or decending. You can bleed a little glide with light brake pressure. Just don't do that too low or get too slow and stall, or compromise your flare. You need the speed to make the flare effective.

How do you find the Cosmos Power 2 in flight? I just purchased the same wing and find it oscillates like crazy when i am hands off breaks in flight. I also find it very jittery in flight, not at all confidence inspiring. My Dealer is contacting Flow to see if my wing is perhaps a bad production wing? Any thoughts?
@chrisc3998
@chrisc3998 3 месяца назад
I actually love my Cosmos Power 2. For the most part it seems very stable. A few things to note. When I first got the wing I did have to shorten the breaks. The break lines were so long when I first got it that I had to put in a ton of input for very little wing response. I took it to my instructor to help me do that. I also noticed that it does seem to isolate a bit more when I have the trimmers all the way in. Setting them 25% out during flight seemed to help this a bit. Try to mess around with the trimmers to see if that helps at all. These are just a few things to test out.

I have a vision issue. I don't have 3D vision, so it's like landing looking oly with one eye. That means that when I get near to the ground, I don't know if I am at im or at 3m hight. So I finally end up flaring to early or too late and you know what that means: Killing yoyr kneecaps or butt landing with probably a prop brake. Any help?
@chrisc3998
@chrisc3998 2 месяца назад
I could absolutely see how losing depth perception would pose as a challenge to landings. I am not sure I would know how to answer your question. The first thought that came to mind is to put out a pole near where you are going to land, and place different color streamers at different nights so you can gage your height above ground off of a visual aid instead of depth. That is just my first thought.

@@chrisc3998 I thught about using a parking sensor mounted facing the floor so it would beeb at 1 m from the ground, but I searched for one and they are kind of complicated to use. They come with many sensors and a control unit and its kind of messy. If I could find one with one only sensor and easy to set up that would e great ;)
@chrisc3998
@chrisc3998 2 месяца назад
@@neosugus that is a pretty ingenious idea actually if it worked. I would make sure to still be prepared for the landing and not rely 100 on the beep, but I love the idea:)
