great tutorial! i want to try this on 1/16" frosted acrylic to make a stained glass look and slide it into a lantern style lamp.
@ThingsKatieMakes
@ThingsKatieMakes Год назад
Thanks! I had a feeling someone would have an idea for the frosted - I love that idea. I'm always amazed at the creative ideas people have. You may want to try with the print looking much brighter on the screen than you actually want it to show up since you don't have the benefit of the white backer.

Hi! i am so glad i stumbled upon your channel! I do not live in the USA so normally order acrylic from specific vendors for better deals, would you say that any cast glossy white will do or does it have to be gloss one side and matted on the reverse? Also do i have to sublimate the entire surface to void heat marks on the Clear acrylic? I tried an image in the middle of the frame so that i could engrave the rest and use an LED base, but there were like heat marks on the areas with no sub.

Good Morning Katie! Did you use the 1/8 or 1/4 inch white? Thank you. Enjoying your videos!

Hi! I mainly use 1/8” and 1/16”

Gah! I’m coming to the laser from sublimation so this is amazing! I’m having the same problem with proper colors using an Epson eco tank and cosmos ink! Any tips?? Also does the acrylic need a special coating?? I’m soooo pumped about this!!!!!
@ThingsKatieMakes
@ThingsKatieMakes Год назад
No special coating required - I had to test my different profiles on a big polyester tablecloth until I got what I liked. I found the hipoo ink profile gave me the most true to screen results!

Love your video! Can I use a clipart (PNG) from Etsy and sublimate onto a round acrylic OR can I use clipart and offset using the Glowforge to cut? I'm still new and learning... 🙂
@ThingsKatieMakes
@ThingsKatieMakes 11 месяцев назад
Yep! Either should work - the Glowforge offset will only be available in premium - and I’d need to check offset from png, but you have the right idea

Just find out your channel. I really like it! I am thinking to buy laser printer but don't know what brand I should choose. Many ppl talk about glow forge but it's so expensive. I am afraid if I can't make money selling stuff I make from laser printer. Would love to hear your thought. Thank you!
@ThingsKatieMakes
@ThingsKatieMakes 10 месяцев назад
Thanks for your kind words! I think there are two camps on this - one would say buy the best laser you can afford so you don’t have to buy multiple times, others would say buy something less expensive to see if you even like it. The challenge is, it may be harder to learn or get comfortable and confident with a less expensive laser. So it’s tough!

Hii!! Thanks so much for your video. I wanted to ask if your acrylic warped or anything? I’ve watched a lot for research and most needed to weigh it down to prevent the warping, and also some have shown themselves needing to scrub off the sub paper afterwards. Did you have any of these issues? Thank you!
@ThingsKatieMakes
@ThingsKatieMakes 20 дней назад
Yes to warping - I put something VERY heavy - maybe a bunch of books on top after to avoid. No to scrubbing paper - Mine didn't stick!

currently there is no white toner sublimation printers. I would love to get into sublimation if they would make one.

Is this all just regular acrylic or special for sublimation?
@ThingsKatieMakes
@ThingsKatieMakes 10 месяцев назад
Regular acrylic - the 3015 white works the best for crisp results
@alejandrorochaweimar9442

Do you think you can print a full sheet and sublimate a piece of acrylic of the same size and after that cut pieces in the laser machine. Would be that safe to cut with the laser ?
@ThingsKatieMakes
@ThingsKatieMakes Год назад
Yes - completely safe and I do that with patterns!
