Flying your kite towards land is a bad idea, it should be towards the water. It’s also safer to be handed the kite by the second launcher, not have to pick it up whilst flying a kite.
An option we used once in nuking wind is that the second rider walks to their kite, flips it and hands it to you. You then do not have to bother with flipping the kite, which can be tough in gusty nuking wind
When landing by shore break or 10 m or larger kite which is difficult to flip with one hand, I ask my partner either walk towards me and downwind, or relase the safety after I hold the kite. That way I can hold on to the kite upside down in carrying position until she can come and take over the kite.
I did it with kites on opposite side, my friend just put the kite down on water and with both hands free, launched my kite then relaunched his kite from water.
Thank you for this great video! 🙏 Why didn’t you call it „launch & Land your friend...“? IMO landing while flying is even more useful than launching. you need at least one experienced Kiter... and that experienced Kiter should probably be able to self-launch afterwards anyways, so why take the risk of launching while flying? For me, self-landing in stronger winds is much more of an issue, so I loved the second part of the video even more.
If by "standard self launch", you mean pulling your kite into the window and allowing it to roll into the launch postiin, then that's ridiculously crap advice 😂
@@gethighwithmikeThat is exactly what I mean. If you make it more evident in the title or description that this is recommended for experienced riders, then I'd have much less concern.
Need to addstrict communication to the second kiter on how to raise the kite 'without' the kite pushing the launcher backwards or over - into a kitemare... And as above ' Towards the water' not land obstacles.. Reake it and it will be Legendary for 'all time'
I started grabbing the bridle instead of the leading edge when landing someone's kite while steering my own. It's much easier this way. The person just walks over and takes the kite from you. It's easier because the kite is further away from you and it's easier to hold.
Very good information bro!!! But its easier and safer just HOLD the kite. When you launch your kite stand next to the other kite ,the other rider pick it up and you just Hold it,then he run to his bar and launch. In landing just grab and hold the Kite.. the other rider should run and put it on the ground properly. In 30+ conditions i think this is the way. Stay Safe stay High!
Interesting! I’ve never found this to be necessary. But I’m open to it being easier and safer. I’ll need to give this a try in some strong winds as you suggest :)
Push :). Nice tut...for my experience at beaches super good tipp, most time when im on lakes and the wind isn´t so stable sometimes best way, if possible, to make a drift launch in the water. (but of course this comes also with some risks) Fly safe. Btw: Nice vids!
Yeah Mike Cheers Mate... Great Video to show the inexperienced kiters landing and launching techniques, and to make it easier for the experienced kiters to help them... You are the Man... Nyeeoowww..!
This is a quite frequent exercice during winter or secret spots 😎There are some other options, as launching and landing alone, with or without fix point. But this option is the simplest when one of both has not a long experience and when starting point is desert and landing point a bit uncertain… I practice often this with a foil kite in my hand, with a lei kite for my wife. I mostly don’t care for taking off her kite as I do alone after for my foil kite, but I need to do it sometime with my foil kite in the air. For landing I land first the LEI kite, but with a friend having has well a foil kite it is a bit more touchy, but your tips are the same! 😎 Very light, strong or gusty winds make things even more difficult ! It is the same with narrow beaches or with trees or hazards nearby … Thank you for your vid’s ! 😎
More essential tips that should be shared on every local kite community group's pages, you see this being done incorrectly far too often! However, you'd think by now that these fancy gold kites would launch themselves while you have a pre-game taste... :)
You said previously, 10 meter XRs were not ideal for looping. Video from a while back, XR vs GTS looping one with Yanek. Is the 10 meter XR pro any better ? I am too heavy for a 9m as my second kite .. ty bro
Absolutely perfect video - I'd just add one point when launching each other - once your mate launches you, it's probably better practise for your mate to pick his kite up onto its side for you to just grab easily before he runs back to his control bar. Great video dude! Very well-done!
