This video shows how to lay slates onto a roof, and includes a gable end or verge, as well as an abutting wall. Here you will see how to overlap the slates with side lap onto the eaves row or starter course, and whether to start with a slate and a half or a half slate with eave slates row. Then we continue up the slate roof keeping the courses and slate spacing upright and square all the way to the top, where the roof is finished with a top row of slates.
