Good method - but a couple of thougths - I can’t glue the last piece to the floor because that negates the idea of a floating floor - instead, glue the last thin strip to the previous board where you removed the lip - this is much better and keeps the floor floating - as for ripping the last row, use a cheater board against the baseboard and mark on the board (So That’s How You Do It) has a good series on cheater boards for that - overall, love your work and the video is helpful and of great quality - thanks

The most impressive part of this remodel is the fact that you actually bought the house. I can't find one property that isn't over priced or snatched up by sharks.

We literally just installed vinyl plank floor in the bathroom last weekend! Wish this had been up then, haha. Although we didn’t have baseboards on we did have to go around door trim.

This is exactly what I was looking for! Was struggling to tuck the planks under baseboards while trying to get them flush..thanks man!

Great job Jarrod!!! We put vinyl flooring in our house after we had a flood occur last Oct. Chose to put in your entire home on the main floor and stairs and hallway. Starting to look SUPER nice. However, we had a flooring guy do it for us and he was smooth like you when it came to put the flooring in!! Thank you ☺️ for what you do!! You can tell you do it with your heart and soul!! Amazing, Joel. How does someone who is not a builder or contractor learn to do all this? You have to have more patience than anyone I know. Is this all self-taught? I want to live in that house and I still think you and Bonnie should move there. It is going to be beautiful. I would love to see it when it is all finished, but with furniture and I know that is not going to happen if your selling or renting it.

I’m really curious about that flooring. Can you post a link to it? We need to redo our entire main floor with hardwood, but need something more affordable. And living in Seattle, we need something that’s more water resilient.

It's so easy to take off the base and put I back on after the install. That last plank with the liquid nails will end up gapping over time. You could've used clear gorilla glue 2 hr cure time in the joint. Floor looks good though brotha. I've been installing for 21 yrs. My family 46 yrs

We have the type of flooring in our bathroom and living room. We are renevating our upstairs now but we are putting carpet in all the rooms, new drywall and insulation, hard wood throughout the rest of the house. We are also redoing our kitchen and the rest of our dinning room. Then when it gets warmer, we are fixing all the windows in the house and the siding. (Out house was a barn and built into a house by my grandparents in 1960). It's old so the house needs redone

Well i would say as long as your floor is level all the way around the 1/4 round isn't Necessary however if it isnt then you will have uneven gap between the baseboard and floor which is what the 1/4 round takes care of and hides the gap from edge of floor to wall which you need for expansion so that your floor doen't buckle later

Hey Joel, thanks for the video. This is my third time laying LVP and I always try to learn something new each time to make the job easier. This is the first time I've had to lay the flooring with the baseboards already installed which is why I found this video. However, on my first attempt at the weave method I encountered an issue you didn't address in the video. The first piece for the weave slides in great. However, when you slide in the second piece, how do you connect the beginning of the second piece with the end of the first? If you try to slide it straight in, the locking mechanisms aren't able to connect. The locking lip end of the second piece needs to go over the locking lip end of the first piece. I can't see any way to achieve the weave method without breaking the end of each piece. Your flooring appears to have the same locking mechanism as mine. What's the secret?

What size trim did you use for the baseboard and door casings? Looks like 5 1/4 x 1/2 for the baseboard and 3 1/2 x 1/2 for the door legs. Looks good i want to copy it lol

Quick question for you Joel. We have vinyl plank at our current house and we love it. We are currently building and plan on putting it in that house as well. We have two mini dachshunds that have hip issues and the house we are currently in doesn’t have any texture to it. They slide way too much. We want to have some with texture in the new house. What are your thoughts on the vinyl plank with texture? Is just preference for people? And is it even that noticeable of a difference (visually speaking)?

I always read that with that type of flooring you shouldn’t put it right up to the base boards. As the flooring swells and moves and will bow (lift up in areas) if it doesn’t have room to move. Which is why usually they will say to use the cord around it as there should be a gap between the flooring and the skirting board.

We sprayed ours with silicone and the pieces slid in easily.

My door casings are curved. The previous owner just 90* the quarter round at each doorway. It’s hideous. What can I do to fix it ? Tk

Aren't you afraid of dirt or sand getting in the gap between the floor and floorboards?

Don’t glue vinyl flooring! it will expand and contract and if you don’t allow it to move it can warp, create gaps, or buckle. That’s why it’s called a floating floor

I'm debating whether to glue down the vinyl flooring in my bath or not. My contractor wants to. What's your opinion?

I agree with you, Joel. Quarter round just isn't very nice looking.

This may be a silly question but don’t you normally need to leave a gap around walls, doors, etc to accommodate swelling/expansion of the flooring or does vinyl not do that?

Did you run the oscillating saw along the baseboard?

bruh you need a proper mic. Audio isnt the best. Quite echoey

Instead of tapping the piece that you want to install with the rubber mallet why don't you get a scrap piece and lock it into the end you're tapping and tap the scrap piece which will push the good piece in place without damaging the lip.
