Thankyou for making this video. It's the first time I've seen the grip over D demonstrated. A little bit more knowledge. I stumbled upon your video while trying to find out an explanation of a movement that occurs in Caber Feidh (March). The third part of the tune has a grip like movement, but with the root note attached to the beginning of the grip as a 1/32. Would you know anything about this movement, or the movement in this tune? I believe its called a 'half grip'.

Hi there. I've never heard of a half grip I'm afraid. The third part of Cabar Feidh is usually GDEs with the first LG held after the g grace note. Could be written a few different ways. If you can link me to the recording you've been using I'd be happy to have a look.

@@NeilClark-FalkirkPiping Its actually the fourth part that goes to the low hand with the GDEs. The third part begins with a grip like movement, that happens between an E and a C. The only thing that makes this different from a regular grip is that there is a fourth 1/32 note added before the regular Low G, D, back to low G. And that note is a C note. You can hear it here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8ItL7O3XOmI.html

@@josephboudreau8794 Aye yer right... should have checked the tune first. anyway, you've more or less answered yer question. It's a grip, but with a grace note to a short c before the c-c grip itself. Sometimes the G grace note isn't played. No name for it as far as I know. Can't be a half grip, as theres a full grip there. But then again a doubling strike its really a doubling... nice part of the tune. It's a really individual tune, I like playing it. But I get the parts mixed up!
