Hey Erick, it will crack for sure if you aren't used to controlling it. I've heard other RU-vid "Coaches" that can't even control it, so it takes a LOT of work to get there, but you WILL eventually figure out how to manipulate your vocal chords to reduce/eliminate the crack. @@RockYourBestVocals no problem man, vid really helps. It's hard for me to sing when people are around or I have a conscious of someone hearing me while practicing. So I get what your doing and where your coming from. Cobain was pretty smart for finding lakes to scream at all alone.
When I was little I screamed out of anger because of a sibling being an asshole, and my voice is permanently damaged. But I did it excessively and screeched as loud as possible to get my parents' attention. I used ALL my strength and my throat got damaged because of it.

Hi Jimmy, if you are only assuming that is the cause, you might want to go see a specialist so they can actually look at your vocal chords and assess any damage and what the cause is.... if you are serious about singing it will be well worth it, and may put your mind at ease knowing the cause, and the prognosis! This channel is gold because YOU are gold. Fun, encouraging and simple. I watched almost everything in this channel and I feel like there's a lot to be learned from your videos, just need to watch them again and again. I am trying so hard to sing good but I think that creates the problem, I am so tense when I'm singing like I am trying to put all the things I learn from youtube into work (relaxing the throat, pushing out, resonating, lifting palate, vowel modification etc. whatever it is...) MY MIND IS LIKE SHIT. I think of singing like it's a TASK, not like it's a thing to enjoy and express. I also play the guitar and in contrary I feel so free while playing it, I play it dirty, without rules, but I enjoy it and it sounds the way I want in the end. Sadly, I feel like a robot when I sing. Hey Berk, Hello to Istanbul!!! NO WAY - you watched so much on here!!! Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment - really appreciated it!!! As for your singing, I can totally relate to it feeling like a TASK sometimes. Don't worry, you'll get past that if you just keep working on the fundamentals. Here are a couple of tips - FIRST (remember that singing is simply SPEAKING in tones. When you sing, just think about saying the words. Think of it this way. You are not all tensed up when you are speaking are you??? Well, that's how singing should feel. So, when you go to sing, just relax like you do when you SPEAK. SECOND, remember that the AIR in your lungs is the FUEL, and your ABDOMINAL muscles are the ENGINE. Make sure you have enough AIR, and then the only 'pressure' in your body should be your ABDOMINAL muscles pushing out the air. (make sure to control the outflow of the air to push as little out as possible!!!) These fundamentals should keep you relaxed and help!!! 🤘😎🤘
Tip: do it in the car in the dark (not while driving, but in your garage or something it helps me scream because I’m less worried about people hearing me

Actually i'm trying to cover full Nevermind album, and the song that fucks me harder in the ahh is Lounge Act, i can sing really well the first two parts, but the screaming ending is really difficult for me, my voice cracks everytime i try to make it "hearable". It happens too on other screaming songs like Territorial pissing

Hi Kai, it shouldn't ruin your voice, as long as you don't 'overdo' it (if it starts to hurt your voice, please stop!) if you push from your abdomen more (like you are doing a situp, or lifting something heavy) that should help you take the pressure off your throat... Kurt did that to 'rough up' his voice, and I've done that to mine too... WARNING: once. you 'rough up' your voice, it's harder to sing 'CLEAN' after that, so think long and hard about what you want LONG TERM before over-using this to 'rough up' your voice... Thanks for reaching out - that is a common problem people have (I've even had this and remember - NO singer is perfect!) The reason for this, is a common misconception that you need to sing LOUDER. That, my friend can cause vocal damage and you need to avoid trying to sing louder. It's about technique (including mic technique) AND projection. good video dude!! i have a question... i been practicing your methods and now i can achieve a tiny level of distorsion... but i dont know if i achieving that raspiness in the right way, if after i do the distortion i feel that my throat gets dry and i need some water to do it again is that means that im doing it in the WRONG WAY? or is just right and i need more practice to train my voice? i'll appreaciate so much an answer, i dont wonna hurt my voice :(

I used to 2 packs a day, so my voice got WAY harshed early on... kinda messed it up to where I can't get a 'clean' sound without pushing quite hard from abdomen (to get a good cord closure)... thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment - appreciate you!!! 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼

Well, I would not recommend ANYONE do this… it CAN cause long-term and or permanent damage which is why there is a warning in the title… Kurt did it because he didn’t GAF, and likely was not aware of potential damage
How do I know if im doing it right, like kurt said he screamed from his stomach, and im trying to do that but all i feel is stinging from my throat. Maybe im overthinking it.
The volume will come from pushing from your abdomen - try pushing from there as if you are doing a sit-up or something like that (let me know results after you try this, or any other questions!)
If you have a towel, you can always scream (or sing) into a towel if you NEED to sing loud, but IN FACT, you can use a speech-level technique which I would rather recommend for you if you have damaged your voice.. Michael Jackson (and many other huge names) have used this technique effectively and I practice that technique as much as possible to avoid damage...
Well that’s the thing… if you do it correctly you can still manage to sing clean. I have a raspy ‘natural head voice’ from my early career abusive singing, but I can still sing clean when I need to.
