if you plan on going AFK for a long time, you want to make sure that the first two levels of the back wall are touching the ground (as the archers are guaranteed to shoot through the first level before long) or that the structure is supported by iron beams. if you want to be certain the farm keeps running you need Gjall ballistas (probably three or four will do) and at least 5 two-star wolves patrolling outside, this should take care of most event mobs. the wolves can be killed off surprisingly quickly by blob events (i had two outside and two inside and the outside ones died within a minute) so you probably want more. keep them outside but "following" you and leave some stacks of meat so they can replenish. also there does need to be a hole in the roof for greydwarves to spawn, but it doesn't need to be that big. it worked for me with a triangle of 3-4 meters around the spawner, but it could probably be smaller. building a tower of stone around the edges of the roof hole will protect it from Gjall/seekers, whilst also giving you high ground to mount ballistas. some Gjall Ballistas on a tower and 10 wolves should make it so you can leave the farm running until you reach lvl 100. also, you need to make sure that you are standing right behind the archers at all times. if you move more than a few meters away from them they might lose interest in the greydwarves and they will stop shooting them even when being attacked. putting an extra 2x1 stone wall in front of the slabs (or more) should stop the shamans from poisoning you to death when you are at min HP / not healing and it won't stop the archers from shooting them. you also need to make sure that there are no significant gaps between the edges of the pit and the walls of your structure as the spawner sometimes puts greydwarves there and once there are three stuck in the gaps it won't spawn anymore. don't put a melee skeleton in the arena as this can also potentially make the archers lose interest when they don't get the chance to loose an arrow in a while.

Hey i came across your video and tried this out, it does still work and ive slightly modified it so the skeletons dont take any damage. Only thing is, its not pretty but its functional. All you need to do is add some 2x1 stone walls in front of skeletons at the floor and stones at the top to make a slit for the skeletons to shoot through, as the grey dwarfs throw stones at an upward angle they will never hit the actual skeleton but the stone

I found that skeletons despawn if you use a portal near them. But if you portal away a certain distance from them, they do not despawn. You could safely leave and do other stuff, and the skeletons will still be there when you come back.

Just so you all know, due to the latest patch, there is no need to worry about Seeker armies in the Black Forest. The seeker army event cannot happen in Meadows, Mountains and Oceans anymore. However, do watch out for other events such as the "You are being hunted" event.

I just got the Seeker event "They sought you out" in the Black Forest, so this is false. The patch notes say the event "will no longer trigger in Meadows, Swamps, Mountains or Ocean", which means it can still happen in the Black Forest.

Rolf, I got a mod newly installed the does things to armor given magic buffs, I thought this was part of that mod until now, I dropped Valhiem until mistlands with new mods or updates to my favs.

I found that making the shell out of just raised earth works better - it's not as pretty, but you don't have to go around repairing it constantly. I wish there was a faster way to lvl this up - the dwarves just spawn so slowly that it's a snail's pace even afk on the lvls. ~2-3/hour@lvl 35 is very slow. I managed to use the stone golem technique to get elemental from 1 to 100 in about 10 hours.

Great guide video! One thing I would add is if the person isn't going AFK to bring the staff of protection to cast the shield. Just to help with leveling blood magic or do you think the exp gained from shield isn't worth it?

I believe the shield only gives EXP when it is destroyed by an enemy, so that would not really work well I think.

Just be aware before you even start building this, it may take 10+ minutes to get 2 skeletons each time you restart it, and it's great for getting wood and stone, but leveling up Blood Magic will take countless hours if you want to get it up to 60 or 80. It seems like each level even in the teens can take 10+ minutes. So this will need to run for a lot of hours. But if you will be doing a megabuild it might be worth it. That said, the skeletons probably are still not worth it even with a higher Blood Magic and the stress of dying and losing 5% of your skills isn't worth it. So only do this if you're extremely dedicated.

I love the concept, tho I have yet to find the elusive Rancid Remains trophy. What's the rate of gain for the skill with this method? Is blood Magic Skill tied to kills made by the skeletons? Thanks for the great content Booster! Loving the live streams too!

Yep its a hard trophy to get, gotta enter lots of Burial Chambers to find them. You gain EXP per kill of an enemy by your summons.

The rate is horrible after you get to 20 with this method. You're better off going out in the world and causing some ruckus with your bone buddies to level up.

I agree, and using the shield on them makes that even better. But you cannot do that AFK, that is what makes this in some situations a better option. I hope the devs increase the EXP gain slightly.

Nice build! I have got a question though. In most tutorials for greydwarf spawner farms there is a pillar left below the spawner. The spawner in this video seems unsupported from below. Do you need a pillar to keep it up, or what does it keep floating here?

Depends on what level you are trying to reach, gets slower per level as you need more EXP. From 0 to 20 is relatively quick, after that it start to take a little while.

figured this out quickly int he ptb but still wasnt satisfied with the results. Blood magic levels SO much slower than elemental. The devs need to fix it so that, idk, every time my shield bubble gets hit i also gain xp or something. I only got in the late 30's before leaving my greydawf farm as the xp was painfully slow.

Yep, I made 30plus levels easy in elemental, while going from 20 to 30 Blood Magic took a bit long. For as far as I know you get EXP with the shield when it is destroyed, but need to test that further.

@@Lappmogel Yeah, I found after hitting the teens it was faster to actually have protection on them and and just go out in the world get clobbered. Still WAY slower than elemental magic leveling and needs to be balanced.

@@TheXboxSux I've managed to keep them on the same level more or less. But if you just nuke the enemy down before they have a chance to take or deal damage then ofc its going to be slower. Same issue with blocking, hard to keep that on the same level as your primary weapon unless you take hits on purpose. Anyway if you want to farm levels i think its better to just summon the queen and then stand in the door and send in shielded skeletons over and over. Ofc that would require some effort. But i dont know for sure. Not really interested in any kind of afk leveling anyway, might as well use dev commands and max your skills and save the time and electricity.

@@Lappmogel I have a plugin that displays the xp numbers gained for a skill while performing actions that raise it. I'll do some testing, but I have a sneaking suspicion they'll be lower than elemental by a noteworthy amount. I've spent an entire day running around with the skeletons and letting them smack and be smacked by everything with little to no intervention. I barely carved out a single level. While a day with a fireball staff can crank out nearly 10 levels. I guess i'm more intrigued in what the mechanics are that actually raise blood magic. Casting it most certainly does nothing, skeletons landing damage does, and from what i can see being hit seems to also raise it. I'm more curious if the amounts are the same or different.

Ok so it was all going preety well with "My Best Pals" skeletons armed with bows. I saw my Blood Magic bar filling slowly, but it was all fine... Until I went afk for about 40 minutes... When I came back I have noticed that my Blood Magic experience bar didn't move at all... I have gained nothing. I was rested all the time, since I had campfire nearby, also my skeletons were doing the best job they can killing all those creatures coming out of corrupted bushes with no problem. I stayed a little while to see if the bar will fill a little bit, but it didn't... Anyone experienced the same problem? No mods installed... Ever...

I mean there are also multiple melee skills. But I do agree that leveling magic in this game, starting in Mistlands is bad. I would like a copper/Iron age magic type so that you can start leveling through gameplay earlier.

@@BoosterGames Yeah, I get what you mean, there's just such a difference in leveling between elemental and blood magic. With the new staves in aslands, elemental levels up like crazy, while blood barely moves, even if I constantly summon and bubble my skeletons. On the other hand, maybe that's intentional, because the bubble health feels so strong.

i really dont understand this. if your already using commands or cheats...why not just give yourself 100 blood magic skill. Why do people cheat or use commands or exploits to accomplish something they could accomplish by using the same methods in the first place. /baffling.
