Al leaves for 5 minutes and first thing Woody does is work on a Honda K series engine! 🤣🤣 Jk, we all will miss Al a lot but i'm excited to see where Woody goes with the channel, this is a great start!
Time for a Steve Morris SML! 😁 But yeah, having a heap of sensors and setting up safeties will save your enginge. But tell that to Steve Morris - he hadn't even run a low oil pressure safety in his Boostmaster for the last 3 years... 🤪
Not an apprentice but did spew out over 20 letters of old crusty oil. Scooped up 15 letters with a dust pan. Took me 5 hours to clean up and still looked like an oil tanker exploded 😬
I did one better the oil drum... I had the hose blow off hydraulic oil pump. It covered me head to toe in new hyd oil.. I think every apprentice ive had has done the expolding waste drum
AS A DIGITAL STRATEGIST, with 20 years experience, certainly DON’T change the channel name but Woody’s Workshop is a good shop name for me. Remember these what not to do’s?. Magna > 380, Pulsar > Tiida
Gotta agree. They never referred to Al's shed as "The Skid Factory", it was always Al's shed... even though it was a full on metal GARAGE with lifts and a/c. The Skid Factory was their brand, it's them So what's that make all this now. "HI everybody, welcome back to the Skid Factory, formerly known as MCM2. We're in the Woodshed today, formerly know as Al's shed. I'm Woody, formerly known as Ben but there's too many Ben's in the Aussir youtube car scene ....." 🤣 @theskidfactory
It's fun to see how much more relaxed Kai has gotten with the camera. In the beginning he was so obsessed with being coherent that he ended up over explaining everything. Now he's laid back and the technical advice just flows seamlessly into jokes and back again. The Woodcrew at the new Skidfactory is shaping up nicely. Hope lots of blokes come around and do projects with Woody.
Wood Shed it's a no brainer for the shop name, keep the channel name the same. And you could have a second channel "Behind the Wood Shed" for other stuff not shop related.
Brought Kai's car in all piled up and got cars stacked on the other lift, but I still think woodshed is better than woodpile. Woodshop is Hella good too
I would have said call it the furnace cuz Woody's gonna burn up in there, but his brother came through with the AC hook up so that one's out the window. Sounds like he's got the same type of swampass temperatures we see her in Florida. 35°c + 158% humidity is no Bueno. Those light bills will suck but you'll get more done if you're not melting like a popsicle
And sorry for being so abrupt previous comments, but I want you to hit the ground running, you have to. Al's a hard act to follow. Here's my advice moving fwd. Choose your own projects with your paying customers. Don't ask us YTs for "wat should I do next???. Thats wat made Al unique. He said im gonna do this, and everyone followed him. Don't make the mistake of asking the followers wat to do. (sheep). Do your own thing, work out new builds with your customers and then announce them on YT.
Al can move on, you can change the workshop, but dont you dare use the plastic hammer and NOT have the squeegee sound. I was so excited seeing the hammer, and left so disappointed.
What gearbox is in it? What exhaust housing is on the turbo? Would it be better to use two 3-port solenoids for the wastegate? One to control top hat and one for bottom? That way the control is independent and less sensitive.
Kye will be a sick replacement for host. He portrays as knowledgeable, well spoken and not afraid to get his hands dirty. More grouse filming and editing Woodsy.
Thank you Kai again for your time and experience. Excellent tips on engine protection seen right through 👌 I’m getting into using NSP playback for fast analysis on the back of Kai’s previous dyno videos over jumping into MLVHD each time.
Mad...well done to you Woody I wish you all the best and success with RU-vid land...it's going to take some getting use too not seeing Al on regular basis but I'll survive 😉
That's such an Al thing to do, chucking a K motor in a 300zx. Would've been cool to see all the purists' heads melt. Although, Al could get away with most things... Woody, check out "Fireball Tool". The dude is based in Spokane, Washington US and makes some real trick fab tools and great great videos. Has a couple of bench vises in store including a 5" forged thing for like 125 US. If something makes it to his online shop, it's good enough for us. Wilton is established and has a cool range but pricey. Fireball may have an intermediate model out now. Haven't checked out the latest vids. A fab table on rollers would be the perfect mobile bench. You could mount some sliding drawers to the underside. Only you can know what works best for you in that space. The more things you get done in there, the better you can narrow down the necessities. Congrats!
I’m a bit late with watching this one. Top marks Woody. I was thinking of a name, what about Wood Works (channeling the Skunk Works secret projects) dunno maybe it sucks thought I’d give it a crack. Also what engine mounts and bell housing did Kye use ? I know Ke conversions do engine mounts but then Dave seems to have done alot of fab work on it 🤔
Sick k-swap!!! Can you ask Kye what brand water pressure sensor he is using? I can’t find one that lasts more than 20mins on the dyno before they dye. Bosch duel sensor being one..
I came close to losing a full oil boy one day but the other apprentice exploded one at about 330pm on a Friday arvo just after we had cleaned the floors, and got covered head to tow in the low roof workshop with about 50L of diesel oil Poor bloke No one was happy coz we all had to help clean it up. I'll never forget it lol 😂
