The only thing that kind of jumped out at me in this, is that the establishing shot when you warmed your hands it had less light than your face on the palms, even though in reality - if the light source is the fire, they would be brighter. Maybe one of those little RGB lights hidden by the fire container from the camera pointed up would help that. Really impressive that you could tackle something like this on your own out there. Great job

Question from an amateur: I'm looking into lighting equipment for an outdoor night time shot, and the website I'm at that sells/rents equipment offers me lighting but I don't know what kind of numbers I need to be looking for. If you were in my shoes and you were to choose a power output between 2K and 20K, which one would you recommend, the low end 2K, high end of 20K or a number somewhere between the two? Thanks for any help you can offer and also thanks for doing this campfire lighting vid. I feel one step ahead now than I was before.

love your videos man. Quick one, if you bounce light off a white surface to a light skin person, will it work on a dark skin person? won't it look off?
@BradyBessette
@BradyBessette 2 года назад
Thank you so much, I’ve found that sometimes it could just use a little closer of a bounce to bring up that shadow level. I’ll also place darker skin subjects closer to lights when blocking, and the more light skin subjects further. The same can apply to light and dark clothes

@BradyBessette
@BradyBessette 2 года назад
My best advice is work with a colorist that is capable of doing so, and then time your day and plan your direction of shooting into the sun to be able to still achieve desired shadows. I haven't tried it for a look like this though!
