Please don't ever take this down. Since 2016 I have looked this up every spring and fall to turn on and off and would be lost without it. Thank you so much!
God bless you! My husband always handled these things and tonight you helped an old widow out! In July 2023 when my husband was on hospice for cancer, we turned off the pilot light because it was making the living room too warm. I have kept it off until now, but we are expecting a storm and could lose power anytime. So at 3 a.m. I decided I better not freeze when I heard it was 15 degrees outside. You saved me! Thanks so much! Me and my new kitten are snuggly warm now! ❤ My husband would thank you too!😊
This is easily the most valuable video on RU-vid for me personally. Once a year I am asked to turn on the pilot light at my parents house and each year this saves me from looking incompetent
As a first-time homebuyer, I was a bit lost when it came to using my fireplace, and my realtor didn't have the details from the seller. Instead, I was given a chimney specialist's contact and told it could cost around $100 for assistance. Thankfully, I stumbled upon your video and, by following your instructions, managed to light the fireplace with ease! Thank you so much for sharing that video. Fireplaces indeed warm homes, but it’s your kindness that warms our hearts!
Thank you for showing me how to do this. My husband recently passed away unexpectedly and I’m left to do all the things he did. We’re having a blizzard right now so having the fireplace going gives me piece of mind. Thank you!
I'm so sorry for your loss. I was widowed once. The first two years were the toughest to get through. Learning how to take care of everything alone and in mourning is really tough. Thank goodness for the folks who take the time to create these tutorials. A little help goes a long way.
My dad died unexpectedly when I was 10. I remember my mom and I being baffled by lighting the pilot on our fire place. It is one of the standout moments in my mind of us healing. This was in the days before RU-vid so we just had to trial and error our way through it. Every fall when we would light the pilot, we would reflect on how far we'd come . Since I moved out of my mom's house it has been a few years since I've had to light a pilot. This year my wife and I have a house with a gas fireplace and I needed a refresher. Your comment reminded me of the silent ritual my mom and I would have together each fall lighting the pilot. I hope you find solace and healing. More than 17 years later my mom and I still think about my dad, but have been able to build new lives for ourselves. I sincerely hope you are able to do the same. Keep the memories alive, heal, and move on.
@@nooranik21 I love your comment so much. It tells a story of love, loss, healing, moving forward, memories & never forgetting those who have gone before us.

First time visitor. You saved me from FREEZING. I moved into a Rental that has this brand of Fireplace. It's Dark and Windy and the Electric Heater can't keep up with the chilly weather like I thought it might. Less than 4 MINUTES Later and I have a Safe, Toasty Fire. THANK YOU For The Demo and ALL THE BEST To You, Your Loved Ones. and Those Reading This! - Leilani
Adam, Thank you for posting a very clear (quality) video with easy to follow instructions. I like the fact that you left the WARNING notes up for the entire video. Great job !!
Thank you! I've called my husband for him to go over again on how to light the fireplace.(I've never used a gas fireplace he has shown me a few times but it scares me and it's made all that much worse when he starts yelling.. your video is the first one I came across and it worked just like u said ..I left it alone for 5 mins and then on 3 click came on perfect. Thank you for the step by step. Your my new RU-vid husband..
This video worked! You helped me solve my problem! Husband was useless, he’s not handy. HVAC guy said, probably needed a new system. Handyman said $165, just to come out. Now, I know how to turn it off, and turn it on, and good to know about the gas valve. Maybe that’s why our bills were always so high, bleeding gas! A very big thank you, stay safe!
@@Kybone Ya that was a savage comment 🤣 My husband isn't handy but he works his butt off and I am handy but stay home with the kids. Team effort is right!
This is great. I love that the first thing you said is look at the instructions. I literally hadn’t seen them in there right in front of my face. But I’m more of video learner anyway, so this was perfect. Thanks! 👍🏻👍🏻
I have used your instructions at least three times over the years and it has been so helpful! I have the original instructions but after so long they have become partially obscured and unusable. Thank you so much for your video! It's so easy! Thanks to you.
Thank you so much for this! We have had our home for three years now and just finally built up the courage to use the fireplace. I'm excited to now be part of the "check this video once a year" crew. ❤
Thank you so much! My fireplace always works over 10 years, but just lately it has been suddenly off few times. I don't know why, what could cost the happen? I have learned from you on youtube and turn it on every time.
Three months after the pilot light had gone out I had given up trying to get a tech to come to the house.. Then I found your video. Worked like a charm! Much obliged!
Thank you for the great video. Ever since we install the central air conditioner pilot light of the fireplace was off. I saw your video and follow the simple steps and my fireplace is working great. Thanks for saving me $150 for the simple diagnostic.
I have never lit a fireplace, before today. Thank you for your instructions. The only thing in the video it did not show was the switch on the wall. It took me about ten minutes to figure it out that when you said flip the switch that is what you meant. Now I know. Thanks again:)
Thank you! We just moved into a house with a gas fireplace, and I couldn't figure out how to light it, but now, thanks to you, it's lit, and we're enjoying a lovely fire.
I would like to say thank you for this video. My mother-in-law just recently became a widow. I was at her house when she asked me to help her turn her fire plcace on because of your video we were able to do it. Thank you so much for the visual step by step!! You truly helped 2 women in distress👭
this is great. i have the same one. mine is from 2003 and its never been used once since the house was built. i had to get an LP converter kit since it was designed for natural gas, and a new gas line in my crawl space because the people that built the house never installed one. i just got the line installed today and waiting for the gas company to turn on the propane tomorrow. this video is helpful since i can be sure i always operate it correctly.
Thanks for the video and info. Just what I needed to light the fireplace pilot light this fall. Helps to kind of take a high level approach and provide simple specific info on what needs to happen. Much clearer than the instructions that come with the fireplace. Thanks ~
I've always been TERRRIFIED of gas anything and lighting it (even when someone lights a bbq- I take cover JUST IN CASE) But now I'm on my own- and need to do it myself and found this video ages ago. Took the plunge (fully expecting to go up in flames/explosions) but he does it so easily and instructs perfectly. Thank you for I do believe what is the 4th time!
Thank you so much! We read the instructions, but had no clue where to see the pilot light. So watching your video helped to know where to look. i think there's more logs in ours, because it was really hard to see! but, there it was! So thanks a lot.
Thanks, first time in 20 yrs the pilot went out on our Gas Fire Place Stove....first thing I did was call the repairman, had to leave a message with their answering service, I thought the Fire Place had a larger issue. The Fire Place was over 20 yrs old, had to to be something big, right? Then while I was waiting for the call back from the technician, I went to RU-vid, found your video, in 6 mins, pilot was lit, I adjusted the flame a little bit and working fine.....very simple thing but if you don't do something for long while sometimes you forget. Thanks again!! Happy New Year!!
So I have asked my husband for about 2 years now to figure out how to do this. Well, after your 3 minute video and 1 minute following your directions, I did it!!! I feel so proud of myself. Thx!!!!
Thanks so much! Last Winter we had to have an expert come into our house and show us how to light the pilot. It went out again tonight and we couldn't remember what the guy showed us. Your video is great! Even though my fireplace is slightly different.
Every year I feel like “i must be doing something wrong!!!” I come on, find this same video and then I hear you say “if it’s been off for a long time you may have to hit the striker a few more times” and I’m like ohhhhhh that’s right!! Thanks again!
Thanks for this video, I come back to it every time I need to do the pilot light on mine cause by the time I need to light it I've forgotten how. Ur a true gem.
Great video, thank you. Have the exact same fireplace. Read the instructions, wasn’t exactly sure if I understood correctly. Video was clear and help to fill in the holes.
Thank you Adam for the video!) Tricky was to keep pushing ignition about 30 times before pilot was on. But trickiest was "flip the switch" on 2:45! WHAT SWITCH? Finally I figured it out - it was in line with other two standard light switches close to the fireplace.
I have used this video for the last 4 years since I bought my house and I am the only one that lights the fireplace up every year …Lol everyone else avoids it! Thanks for making it easy for me to understand❤
9 years later and your video still helps, i had an idea on how to start one since growing up, at my parents house was a wood burning fireplace, now im dealing with a gas one and your video help me get pass on getting the actual flames lol getting the pilot lit was easy, then i was stomped after that lol..
thank you so much. This was so helpful today. Mine has no instruction page, and I would not have known or had the patience, to wait and click the pilot button as much as I had to to get this going. 🙏
This is an excellent video... well done. I normally leave the pilot on all the time. However, last spring it went out so I waited until now [July] to relight the pilot. Going through all the steps and pushing the pilot button in, no matter how long I push it, the pilot does not stay lighted. Any advice on this situation?
@@Brwnsug84 how do I connect a switch? I have to take the front off and light the pilot everytime I want heat .. can I attach a thermostat and/or a switch?
This is my 4th year coming here! I'm not trying to be a gas or fireplace tech, just wanting to safely light my logs. KISS (Keep IS Simple Silly) aways gets my vote! Thank you so much for simple yet safe and effective instructions!!😊
I have to watch this video every year to light my gas stove...thank you for posting. So easy! My electricity is flickering off and on and this Texas power grid is always iffy so needed to light it in case the electricity went out.
Thank you SO MUCH!!! My strata chooses to shut the gas off to our building during the spring/summer and early fall. I have been freezing (b/c I refuse to turn on the electric heat) Today, I JUST found out that the gas was restored a week ago (no one told me) but thank goodness! Then...I didn't know how to light my pilot light but I REALLY wanted to get it up and running as we have 'storms' coming through tonight and again on Saturday. I wanted to be sure that I was going to have some heat and light in the case of a power outage! Thank you SO VERY MUCH for a simple, easy to understand and see - how to light my fireplace. The inside is almost exactly the same as mine (with the exception of the valve lever). I will save this tutorial as I know for certain that I will be referring to it again (the instruction sheet was not very clear or easy to understand) Thank you again and take care!
Thank you so much! I was taught how to do this once when i first moved in months ago so naturally ive forgotten and the instructions have completely faded away and arent legible. This helped me finally get it on! I got nervous about carbon monoxide posioning so i only had it on for 10 minutes but once i can confirm the flue is open i cant wait!
