Any electrical component on a quad can be used as an LED. Once.

Yup. I think Evan is lucky he didn't do that to his HDZero VTX, given how he was mashing the board around, shorting things. Although, he didn't test the VTX in this video, so...

You mentioned that other LEDs need t be wired in series which isn’t entirely true. You can wire each board in series or parallel. If you wire in parallel then the lights are not all individually addressable. The lights in the same positions on each board will always be the same color. It looks like that is how this kit works. It is also not necessary to wire power in series. You can just attach the data line at the far end of each board to get all the lights to be addressable.

Definitely to be considered as the new standard. In my experience: it’s advisable to cover the arms with insulate tape before mounting the leds to prevent a short after a crash.

I would prefer the FC had led pads on each corner of the board - i saw one fc with this feature. 4 thick stack is way too tight. Might put those on top of the top plate with a tpu cover instead so i dont kill my vtx

It’s for sure too tight, absolutely, I think longer standoffs would be the way as I’ve tried putting boards like this exposed on the top plate and even with covers it never ends well. Gonna keep thinking!

@@headsupfpv bigger standoffs then. Or maybe an fc with 4 LED pads (one each corner) 🤔
