Contemplating on whether to LIVE and WORK in BERMUDA? This is my Bermuda Expat Story!
Probably you are asking yourself: Can I move to Bermuda? Can I work from Bermuda?
You can be moving to Bermuda for a year or for a couple of years, I can definitely say it would be a great experience and you should go for it. This is my story of how I found a job in Bermuda after moving to Bermuda but as I said it wasn't always easy! If you are looking for jobs in Bermuda, definitely do your research on the options and life in Bermuda before jumping right to the first opportunity.

Thanks for sharing your story. Couple of questions, if you don't mind: 1. Were you searching for remote jobs through LinkedIn for the most part? 2. Would you say your remote salary is sufficient, considering Bermuda is one of the most expensive places on this planet? 3. I'd imagine it would be quite difficult to find a remote salary on-par with the cost of living of Bermuda. How long did it take you to find a job?

Hello! Can you share more about how your US employer navigated legal/taxes by employing you in Bermuda? Are you listed as a Bermuda or US employee? Or are you technically a “contractor” to get round legal/tax implications? And do you still have to pay US taxes because it’s a US company or not because you’re not a US citizen?

@@mawisjourney yes I did. I got the license but I am yet to get my visa ready. Bermuda immigration process is lengthy and I don't know why.

Does working remotely for a company outside Bermuda require work permit?

Yes, you still do if you are planning on living and working from Bermuda full time. You can work on a Digital Nomad permit that was released last year.

@@pippen2212 Bermuda used to issue a spousal work permit but I've been hearing they stopped it after covid. It might be worth looking into it and contacting the government to see if they paused or stopped permanently. When I moved to Bermuda I started working on a spousal visa for my remote work and they were requiring the couple to be together for +2 years.
