This has to be one of the best tutorials I have seen. This man knows what he is talking about, he is not trying to rush through it, and his voice is soothing, which instills confidence in what he is saying. Very good job.
I couldn't agree more! -- the British stick to the topic (no unnecessary floss) and they thoroughly explain (good spacing, no overloading + plastics on the top rack + use good quality brands + rinse aids are important ) methodology very well! Thank you!
My tip is Wash and Dry up in the normal way yes using your hands with washing up liquid and yes drying off with a clean tea towel and you would not have to bother with all this non essential energy consuming lazy smelly nonsense appliance.
@@mrdemocracy7106 you use way more water washing by hand, and you inevitably leave a tiny amount of detergent on your items which you then ingest next time you use them. Tea-towels are also breeding grounds for bacteria, which get added to the mix if you use them more than once. Dishwashers save not only water but massive amounts of time...
'If you're going to do a job, then do it properly!' Thanks for clearly explaining how loading a dishwasher should be done for the best results. 👍 A tip I've learned over the years is to check the bottom washer arm is able to rotate freely before switching the dishwasher on. Do this by positioning the washer arm at the 12 and 6 o'clock position before pushing the bottom drawer fully in. The you can reach under the drawer and push the spinner arm round to check that nothing is poking through and stopping the water jets from washing properly. Another tip is, if you use a stainless steel teapot like we do, then putting it in the dishwasher every so often cleans off all the built up tanin stains inside and restores its original shine throughout.
Thank you I'm 40 and never used a dishwasher till today watched ur video and learned alot so thank you for showing me what I been missing the last 40 years
Thanks a lot for the tutorial. You can always use salt and rinse aid separately with all-in-one tablets. Long-handled cutlery can be safely placed across the top rack. Detergent dissolves better with soiled dishes, so don't rinse before dishwashing. With the help of a used paper napkin clean the solid food remains. Now and again, check the arms holes. Unscrew them and with a toothpick remove any obstruction. Always unload the bottom rack first so it won't get any dripping when you unload the top rack . Clean the outer insides of the door as they tend to accumulate soil. Rinse aid dries the door rubber seals. To prevent it, put some washing up liquid on a sponge and moisten them once a month.
I don't even have a dishwasher but I was recommended one of his videos about washing machines and now I've gone down a rabbit hole. This channel is so informative!
I am sure I am not alone when I say I am the ONLY person in my home who can load a dishwasher. What the rest of the family do defies logic and they are all going to watch this as a pre show to the next family movie night. My thanks x
Great video. My 1st tip: put the machine cicle on before you go to bed or programme it, so it starts late to allow for complete dryness of items inside. Some times if you open the machine too soon (even after all the lights are turned off), some of the items will still be damp. 2sd tip: I normally put sauce pans a little tipped over with the handles not up and down but horizontally so that they don't fill with water, and the pans get cleaner. 3rd tip: once a month, or when required, do a cicle with proper cleanning fluid, machine completely empty. It will prevent accumulation of lime (CaCO3) and the machine will smell fresh. 4th tip: you can wash your (gas stove) pan supporters, or grates, putting them inside the dishwasher upside down on the top rack.
Great video, here's my tip: when unloading the dishwasher carry the entire cutlery basket (it has a handle after all) to the cutlery drawer before unloading. Saves time!
the trick for explaining anything is to do it right way, not too fast, clearly explained and with joy. you've done it all! congratulations and thanks for your effort
Brilliant ASMR presentation, thank you. I don't like anything technical so the tone of your voice helped me listen to this type of content, which in fact turned out to be quite interesting! One tip I heard is that you can wash your oven racks in the dishwasher 🤩 the handles can be taken out too, as well as the knobs of the hob (of course you would know this)
Neither me nor the guy who did the plumbing for my new Bosch dishwasher knew what the large head was for and I couldn't find it in the manual, so very grateful for your explicit description of it's use. Also, i think that your video will help all the family be on the same team with how the dishwasher should be loaded! :)
Same with the large. Just got this dishwasher 2 months ago and had no idea what is was for so I have it the cupboard! I’ll be getting back out to use tomorrow now😀
This has been so useful. I have just bought my first dishwasher and didn't realise that wooden items should not go in. Also, the loading tips are really useful.
My useful tip : make a habit of removing the filter EVERY time after you run the dishwasher and wash it. It doesn't take long for the filter to grow black mold when the door is closed. And keep the door propped open a bit with help too. Just like the washing machine.
One thing I realised early on,mis that you have to remove things like rice, seeds etc as they can get into the spinning arms- I’ve spent many frustrating hours trying to remove them from the holes when I’ve realised things weren’t washing properly, as water wasn’t coming out of parts of the arms.
Great vid as usual thank you. My tip is, when you load the top drawer, make sure there's nothing with a handle that could end up falling through and stopping the arm from rotating. We often lay utensils that are too tall for the basket along the top shelf and l always tuck them so the water pressure won't make them fall through a gap. Also, our cutlery basket has an optional grated lid, like the one you showed and, we leave one side shut for cutlery and the other open for things with fatter handles, like peelers or serving spoons etc. It's also a great place for jar lids.
Thanks RU-vid for the random pick! I loved the video and thanks for the explanation. I happen to have exactly the same model Bosch dishwasher as in the clip. I didnt know the upper rack can be adjusted and the bottom dividers can be folded!! It has been more than 5 years since I had this model. LOL. Thanks RU-vid and Thanks Lord's dishwasher man!
Thank you! This is so helpful. You wouldn’t believe how hard it is to find a good tutorial on how to use the dishwasher properly! Lol, crazy. And so many people including myself haven’t been doing it right and we wonder why our dishes aren’t getting cleaning. I also was wondering what some things are on the dishwasher I’m a visual person and watching video is more helpful to me than reading a manual. Thanks for this much appreciated.
TOP TIP : My dishwasher had an error code, that meant something like "Heating Element Fault". It occurred when I had run the machine, and unexpectedly the water supply to the building was interrupted ( so presumably there wasn't water, and the heating element became too hot ). The Service Engineer said, "First know that there is a reset function". So he did the reset function ( pushing two of the control buttons together. The machine beeped, and then was normal. "So you don't need a new heating element. Just be aware that you can reset the machine, and then try it again. Usually this works". So that saved me buying a new heating element and getting it installed when I didn't need to.
Brilliant explanation. You just reminded me to check the filter, which is really useful for me. I would also recommend to use the time delay function. Not only because the energy is cheaper during the night, but also because it is better for the environment to avoid the peak hours when everybody wants to use energy. You don't need your dishwasher to have internet for that. A simple timer function works fine. A lot of the machines have it, just get into the settings it shouldn't be hard to find. And the other advantage is the noise will probably not bother you when you are asleep and away in your bedroom.
Could be a good move for me. I did have a customer annoyed at something years ago and in the end they said that it was really difficult to be annoyed at me because my voice was so calm
@@lords-electrical Chuckling loudly. You should be the recording on an airplane regarding emergencies etc. Seriously though, I would send your links to an advertising company who look for voices like yours for all sorts of things. Don’t be shy about it, we are all just stating a fact, you have it, when it come to not having an irritating voice (you will never by hired for one of those annoying ads) and as someone has said, the perfect voice for recorded books for the blind or those that like to be read to. Thank you, I have really enjoyed your vlogs and learnt things too, even at 63 years old.
GOD BLESS YOU. YOUR INSTRUCTIONS IN 2 MINUTES has helped me more than an hour, of all the other wanna be"s teaching but really need to learn more..... THANK YOU SO MUCH.GOD BLESS YOU. you just helped out a construction guy that has giving up washing everything by hand. while my wife uses the effin machine all the time. EFF THAT!! THANX AGAIN .
Another GREAT video ! TOP TIP : Some of my small spoons, their handles are narrow enough to slip through the holes at the bottom of the cutlery basket. So those I put in handle-up. Otherwise, their handles would interfere with the mechanism underneath the lower tray.
Loved this video! I can help with two tips I have learned. Always put a squirt of liquid dish detergent in the smaller detergent door. This section is for the prewash. If you do that your dishes will come out much cleaner because when the long clean cycle starts the prewash has pretty much gotten the large bits off AND loosened up the tough stuff like egg yoke. Most people just put cleaner and in the big side…. My #2 tip is I try to always load something short in the very front lower basket or section closest to the detergent doors. I learned the hard way if I put a tall item like a plate or cutting board here it can prevent my detergent doors from opening fully. Back when I used to use the pods, I would sometimes have half dissolved packets stuck inside the detergent holder. Just like sometimes we unintentionally block the sprayer, we can also block the detergent door. 👍
Beautifully explained in a very simple language. There are so many things we think we know but after watching this video, we realise our mistakes. Thank you so much for all the wonderful tips. Bless you.
Large item spray head, found this in my dishwasher and could not figure out where it went. Thanks Great video, never thought I would watch a video on loading a dishwasher.
Thank you this has really helped as we think we are some parts missing . Also we were struggling as our plates are bigger than the space when the top shelf is lowered for wine glasses
For constant high performance: wipe plates/dishes with kitchen towel before putting in, don't rinse; remove and rinse the filter after EVERY wash (or at least every other wash), it only takes a minute; and for safety if you have a cutlery basket down below, put knives in point down, too many accidents with knives sticking upwards. And yes, never use those tablets. My Miele has a dosing container that dispenses so little powder you wonder how it works, but it does. Though I do live in a very soft water area. And ignore what the makers of those anodized aluminium pans say about "dishwasher safe", you'll halve their lifespan if you put them in a dishwasher. I learned this the hard way.
I've gotten so used to using the 3 in one tablets, I've totally forgotten where and how to put the salt and rinse aid in! I thought when moving to Gauteng, the water would be hard and I would really need to start doing that, but must admit the tablets are doing a pretty good job on their own!
We have a very similar Neff and I never noticed that you could adjust the height of the top basket. :-O It would probably pay off to actually read the manual, as you said. :) Small tip: It's also important to not block the small (red) front tray in the middle of the top basket because the washing tab will be released to it.
We had a new dishwasher when we had our new kitchen installed a few years back. We put our breakfast bowls in the lower rack together with our dinner plates, which means there is no room for our pots and pans so we simply put them on the top rack together with the cups. We use the machine every five days, by which time it is fairly full. Maybe I should try doing as you suggested and put the pots and pans down below and put the breakfast bowls on the upper rack, although I am not sure if the upper rack is designed to take bowls...👍 Thanks for the suggestions, very interesting and has given me room for thought.
Yes I would put the pans on the bottom in this case and bowls on the top. So long as you position them as best you can it works fine. I put some bowls and small plates on the top if I end up filling the bottom with pans and large plates.
I have sliding tines in the lower rack of my dishwasher. It's great because I have a number of pasta bowl/plates. Essentially plates with rimmed sides, making them a little wider than regular plates. This makes the sliding tines a great feature
thanks for useful guidance, and as you said we all do silly thing by pushing few extra plates that normally doesn't fit. But my concern is the utensils (spoons and forks) should always be placed up side down that handles are sticking up for hygienic purposes. It is important that while emptiing utensils you don't touch by your hands the part that goes into mouth.
Yes the presenters voice is very soothing it puts me to sleep haha. I have a bosch dishwasher it loads in a similar way, i have used the large item spray head a few times when cleaning out the even and fridge shelves and salad bin straight in the dishwasher. i can literally clean out the fridge in about 10 minutes (of course waiting for the contents of the dishwasher. Mine has a knife rack in the top left and adjustable rack at the bottom. I dont bother adjusting the rack height in the top basket. I always use salt but sometimes skip the rinse aid every so often O wash all kinds of things in the dishwasher, if its washable it goes in the dishwasher. i have been known to wash parts of the interior of the car (ash trays and removable trays), bathroom sets (soap dish, toothbrush holder, cups) and plastic shelves. They save a lot of time. I dont really maintain the dishwasher as such, I just put the pots in and turn it on and its been this way for years. I didnt bother with an extended gurantee since I bought a Bosch and in my experience i knew it wouldnt break down so i didnt bother. I use cheap aldi dishwasher tablets and salt/rinse aid. if its cheap and made of plastic/glass/pottery then it goes in the dishwasher. This includes: cheap ornaments (!), plastic trolley shelves (large item spray head), removable plastic parts of the car (ash trays etc.), plastic bathroom accessories (soap dish, toothbrush holder). If you are happy taking a risk (and saving a lot of time) then put it in the dishwasher. this is NOT recommended but I havent experienced any issues thus far. i have cleand out my oven shelves using the large item spray head in about 10 minutes simply using the self clean on the oven and large item spray head on the shelves. Yes im incredibly lazy but you decide is it worth putting stuff in the dishwasher or spending hours cleaning scrubbing or polishing take your choice :)
The unit you are demonstrating has this shelf on the right middle tray. According to Bosch ( Bosch 300 series) it’s to hold wine glasses. I guess you can use for longer knives but quality knives always recommend hand washing. Thank you for your video and valuable information.
I also use this section for plastic containers. When they fit securely under the stem holder, they don't flip over during the wash cycle and fill with water!
What a brilliant tutorial! very well explained and yes I’ve learnt about some new features as I’m guilty of not reading all the instructions. Well done that man👍🏼
I love this video! Very glad to have stumbled across it. Firstly, I’m from the states and am not familiar with dishwasher salt, I wonder if our models do not use that? But more importantly, it’s been a long standing argument in my family -which way to load the silverware. I always believe that they should be tines side down, to help maintain sanitation when unloading (do not have to touch any parts that enter mouth) But now after watching this video and learning about the manufacture flip lids that are clearly designed to be used the opposite direction I think I may have to admit I was wrong. Again thank you so much for creating these videos, I’ve already watch quite a few from this channel ♥️
Bought a Bosch a year ago. Its a work of art. Never going to buy another brand of appliance except Bosch. The Germans make great appliances! Lots of good tips on the dishwasher…thank you so much. And, it was a nice and calm presentation!
I think it may depend on what country you're from and the hardness of your local water. I'm in New Zealand and we don't use/need dishwasher salt here either.
Very good advice. Only one thing to add is not to put cutlery in a dishwasher that have bone handles. Over time the bone will fracture and disintegrate and the glue between the bone and metal will soften and come apart.
oh dear I should make my hubby watch this video, he packs the dishwasher himself as he criticises everybody who does it but he overloads it systematically. He rearanges all the contents several times a day to fit more !
My last two dishwashers both had the same issue with using too little water, they are tuned so hard for minimal water use they actually kind of stop working mid cycle. It starts off normal but when enough water is on all items it takes a few seconds for it to return trickeling down, during that time the pump has run dry! You'll hear an odd surging noise, the water splashing quiets down because there is not enough water to pump around. The arms spinning slows down aswell, so it needs a second or two to regain that aswell. To stop the behaviour I open the door mid cycle and toss in 0,5-1L of water and then the washer runs fine. If you put in too much you will unfortunately trigger the system to think there is an overflow situation and it'll pump out that amount you put in, making the problem worse or the same. If you just bought the machine new, ask the store to pay for a technician to adjust it.
