Thanks very much. I was way overthinking this process. I guess I require instruction because just a picture isn't enough sometimes. Have a great day. Rob Tripp Ottawa, Canada
Hi Lazarus, Yes it will matter. Unfortunately as I recorded the video back to front it makes it confusing but it should wind the same way that the arrows on the white part point, which is counter clock-wise.
There is probably a very logical reason for this, but I unfortunately don't have the answer to your comment, as for us, it only winds in one direction so the direction in the video is the direction of the trimmer line coiling for this model, in Australia. They may have produced different types possibly for different markets over the world, but this would be a question for Stihl directly :). Thank you for watching our video.
A great Stihl invention for easily re-lining the machine, but I have my doubts about how long the strimmer will work as intended after a few years of use, the old Stihl strimmer's I had seemed more robust and worked for me as intended for years, time will tell.
Depending on the line size you are using. For 2.0mm trimmerline, you will fit 4 meters of line onto the head. It will be less if the line is heavier (ie. 2.4mm or more).
The problem is when you have a full reel of line inside, and one bit of the line snaps off leaving nothing to get hold of, necessitating the complete removal of the head, dealing with the springy bits trying to escape each other, removing all the line, reassembly, then respooling.
There are a few reasons this could be happening. The trimmer head gets very hot, especially in summer time and if you don't have a good quality trimmer line installed, the plastic can heat the line to a melting point on a hot day; this will cause the line to bind together. We also see binding when a customer has been pulling the trimmer head apart to manually feeding the line onto the trimmer head spool. This type of trimmer head works best when it is wound on correctly without pulling the whole trimmer head apart. It can also happen if the trimmer head spool has worn and has ridges forming through the line separator. Hopefully this helps.
That’s easy but how do you install the head. I would have been the first step. I got here because the search was for installing. This is not installation. Just inserting the line.
Thanks Mandii. I'm very sorry you were mislead in your search but our heading does clearly say that it is how to LOAD a Stihl Autocut C6-2 trimmer head. If I get a chance today, I will pop up a video on how to install the trimmer head.
The head is worthless, especially when the line breaks inside. Used about 3 times now and get about 20' of trimming before I have to disassemble the head to retrieve the line and respool. Very time consuming and tiresome to do. Give me a head with two tongs I can pull off to restring.
@@3cheeseup The Echo Speed Feed 450 is a recommended bump head with a Stihl adapter for this connector. Not that I've tried it myself, just been looking around today trying to work out how to simplify the autocut C 6-2 usage without much luck.
