how to load customs backgrounds on your CTS3

the question came up the other day about how to load custom backgrounds on your CTS3 monitor and I thought it was a great opportunity to make you a video to show you just how its done. This process is alot easier then it was for the CTS2 and CTS because you dont have to download any special programs you just use the device like a standard external storage device on your computer. Thank you for this! Can you add custom tunes to these CTS3’s? I just now figured out you can pay the difference in the cost of the insight to turn these into a tuner as well.

as far as i know right now I am pretty sure you can not load custom tunes into the cts3 but what it can do in some applications is act as a 5 position switch if you are running efi live.

Craig how did you edit the background to cover the whole screen ? Mine is just a block in the center of the screen

I’ve tried up and down and sideways pics and non worked. It it because they aren’t images off the internet and cause they’re pics from my phone or?

It all has to do with the file size I believe, I tried a handful of pictures before I found one that would cover the entire screen.

Is there a certain picture size for the screen or will it automatically adjust to the screen to fit?

No not really, the monitor will self adjust the picture but keep in mind the more pictures you put on the monitor the slower the monitor could run. Just try to keep it under 8 and you should be good.

in the user manual, the suggested image size is 1280 x 720. Anything smaller will be automatically centered. File types like .jpg .png or .gif can be used. The CTS3 will begin to slow down the more images are loaded. The recommended amount is 5 images.

I just did this but my picture is small on the screen not the whole screen?

If I remember right it depends on the file size of the picture.

Helped me out a lot, thank you. Did you find that the edge doesn't really show the true colour when customizing? I'm trying to make a cyan blue, like yours and when I put in the rgb code 0 255 255 it comes out like the stock blue colour. Any ideas?

It just takes some playing honestly, you can get it but it's just going to take some messing with the combos

Okay so I got the background and I set it up but all I see is purple still like I can’t see the just the background there’s still color over the image

I know exactly what your fighting, I went through the same thing. Go into settings, device colors, background tinting color then grab one of the colors, go into customize and set the transparency to "0" and you should be good to go

Mine was showing my boost until I updated the firmware today. Have you had this issue?

It doesn't show boost anymore of it just stays at zero?

@@Cargill450 mine was working til the update I did today. Now it won't come off 0psi at all. Wondering if it's a known issue

I have heard it a couple times, mine locks up more then I like to admit but it will come back once I unplug it and plug it back it to restart it, don't know if that helps. Either that or you might have to reset the pids

Mine seems very laggy. I also installed the backup camera from edge today and it doest fill the screen. Is that Normal? For $200 I expected more

I'm not sure if that's normal or not, I haven't played with a backup camera because mine is run into the stereo but I agree with you on expecting more, is your monitor fully updated?
