Big thing is BE IN SHAPE. Don’t be overweight, don’t be underweight. Clothes are great, but the foundation of good appearance is physique. We need to get the diet dialed in, we need the lean mass to body fat percentage to the scientifically healthy standard.

I find it fairly easy to look better than most other guys -- care a bit about how you look/ dress and use a mirror, stay fit...you're pretty much there.

My wife's Real Estate team (all women, most over 50) had a get together yesterday. As the night was winding down, the conversation ended up being about spouses (who were invited but there were only 4 of us men) and several of the women remarked how I was always well dressed and put together. They specifically mentioned how I looked at the time, basic shorts and a button down. What really impressed them (although they didn't realize it) was that my shirt matched my shoes...yes, I used the "Sandwich Method". Way to go John! #LEGEND

I actually recently used the color matching thing to renovate my room, especially where tile, ceiling and wall color was concerned, and it turned out absolutely beautiful, so it goes beyond clothing, absolutely helpful.....OK now I need to go shopping and buy a classy sneaker and a piece of decadent chocolate cake to reward myself ❤ 😄

You're absolutely correct about being in shape! A physically fit man will make a simple outfit like a pair of jeans and a white T-shirt look like a tailored suit! Tucking in a shirt with a big belly just isn't visually appealing. All you're doing is bringing attention to your big belly.

Another helpful video. To you last point, a few years ago, my wife & I were in a nightclub in the Gulf region with friends. In there were multiple others, both men & women, dancing & having fun, as you do. We noticed one guy in particular, likely retired military, about my age (early 50s at the time),dressed in a loose, untucked shirt with baggy shorts (with obligatory cargo pockets). This style (such as it is) was somewhat popular in the 90s. But in 2018, on a 50-something guy, attempting to dance with fairly attractive young ladies, it really did not work. Guys, don't do this.

Like it's been said - the number ONE thing you can do to look and feel better is not be overweight! If you are sittin' proper on the BMI scale, you will feel and look better! Even the best looking clothes are going to make less of an impact if you are overweight. Don't fool yourself...

Love your vids mate. I always feel too puffed up with the tucked shirt / polo ~ unless it’s a suit, shirt etc. I try to buy Oxford cut shirts, so they don’t look like a dress 😂. That said; I’m usually ~ jeans and t and maybe a long t shirt or windcheater over (winter); good pair of wheels, a nice watch and the Chanel Allure / Bleu de Chanel to seal the deal! I do get compliments from the ladies; so I guess it kinda works. 🇦🇺

Funny, I went for stone coloured chinos today and was deciding on either sky blue or dark blue shirt. Both work obviously, but opted today for dark shirt. My influence was although I would normally wear brown shoes with this I went for some blue boat style shoes I'd just bought really well with the shirt.

I’m not sure if I’ve posted this comment in the past; but: Can someone explain to me why clothing manufacturers, particularly American Eagle, are designing XS shirts for men that stand 6/2. Again, extra small size for a 6/2 man. Are manufacturers advertising the emaciated look? I am 5/2 and weigh 111lbs. There used to be a time when xs sport and dress shirts fit nicely. Now, they look like night shirts; and I’m relegated to kids’ wear. Sorry for the whining, really.

Yeah, it’s sort of a 50-50 thing. I’ve just been doing it to try it out. It’s a lot cleaner looking, but you can take it or leave it.

@40OverFashion European and middle aged myself, simple rule: pants tucked, shorts untucked. Easy. But you're right, no shorts under dress shirts too long or with slits on the sides. Semi classy casual summer outfits are evident: fitting khaki or any pastel colored shorts, and a nice polo or chambray/cotton/linen shirt, in a matching color like you said.

What is the definition of bring in shape? BMI under 25, 6 inch drop vs. Shoulders/waist 1.6 (never going to happen)? Top 1-2 % seems way too high for 50+ guy just being in shape. Yes the median stat is pathetic. Still there are a significant number in the top 15% that skew the average and make the top standard to be very tough.

There is no clothing company that makes shirts or pants in perfect proportions. Except for the tailor. And then only for YOUR proportions. YOU determine the proportions. Your body proportions are not mine. And what is the "right" one is in the eye of the beholder. There are no "proportion rules". Personally, I would say that your advertising partner's shirts are too long for YOUR proportions.
