Always the best Tutorials ! Cheers Joe ! Just to add a tip to a tip : Open "Record mode" (Record Panel) select: "takes to layers" and then you can skip the up-unpack takes to Layers step.
Perfect timing, Joe! I was trying to find my takes on a guitar solo and wasn't making good progress. Now I'm back in business again! Thanks for sharing these great tips. 🎶🎸🎧
Joe, you've become my Recording GURU. I really wish that I could telephone you and ask specific questions. I'm sorry but I have multiple sclerosis and my Short Term Memory doesn't work to well. I'm lucky that I'm a registered nurse and I learned how to take great notes when I was in school a billion years ago.
I do the same. I was surprised to see Joe's workflow recording first to takes and THEN to layers when it can be recorded to layers right from the start.
@@JoeyFTL Sure, as it it often the case in studio one, i am sure there are many ways to set this up. One way: In the tranport-control at the bottom of the screen, there is a small wrench symbol. Once, you clicked on it, you will see some options for audio- and midi-recording. Select "Takes to layers". Now, after recording in a loop, you can select between your takes (or use parts of multiple takes by slicing pieces of them).
i'm recording vocals for the lead singer of my band today and was planning on incorporating loop recording for the first time. Lo and behold, you just released this tutorial two days ago. THANK YOU!
The question I have is one that has been asked multiple times in the past. When setting up for loop recording a section and also setting a pre roll of say 2 bars before the loop rec start. The first take gives you the pre roll but after that it just loops back to the loop start and records again with no pre roll. In other words you are not able to pre roll each loop/take recording. This has be asked for since at least 2018 or earlier but has not been implemented to my knowledge. The only work around is setting the rec loop length as if to include the pre roll itself. This means your takes always has some number of bars of silence before the instrument or vocal starts. Correct me if I am wrong.
thanks. how do you repeat the loop after like you can in pro tools when you click alt R and the dialog box asks how many times do you want to repeat the clip to make it a full song length?
wow so we can select best version of loops and match track with others nice...!! but sometimes when i use vst for loop recording ike chord it seems it strat with delay and not on good timing at first bar how we can fix that? just record multiple times like this you mentioned to get best result or better options ?
Yes, yes and yes! This is one of the main things I miss in S1. This, and also an option to disable the freaking mouse wheel changing parameters on the console. This is my main peeve with Studio One - I absolutely HATE IT! I keep hoping for an option to disable this, but it seems they're not interested, although it's an old feature request.
This is my favorite way to work but I very often find that if I do more than 3 takes that some of the takes don't show up or will even sometimes show up in a different part of the timeline. I'm on version 5 at the moment. This has been happening for a while with different versions of studio one. I wish Presonus would fix this bug in the program. This is happening with a macbook m1 so I have plenty of processing power.
