Haha well I don’t recommend lowering this way. I ended up taking it off and putting coil overs on. That said, cutting 1 coil off on a Vic it drive the same and looks good. And practically free
I want to lower my rear on my 2006 P71. I can get these springs on Amazon for 72 bucks. Says they are for a GM but I am guressing that does not matter> I searched the moog springs you had a link for on the video.
It's a pretty slick set up and I understand about using the correct rim diameter because I actually lifted my Crown Victoria to make it into a Mad Max car and I have mud terrain/rock crawler tires front and rear on 15 and trims and I had to grind down the spindle bolt for the ball joint at the bottom to keep the rim from hitting that and then I also had to Clearance the back of the caliper a little bit on the front brakes because the police interceptors have larger brakes in the front so I can see where all these things would come into play if you weren't using at least a 17" to 18" rim.....great video. The easiest Crown victorias to lower are actually 2003 and older cause you can just put air rides all the way around on those and still have a place for shocks.
Dude your freakin awesome. For like $50 I can have the front of my marauder lowered. I dont want the craziness of the ridetech shocks and I dont even need rear springs I just adjust the air suspension sensor. The nice bit is stock they come with 18's so I shouldn't have rub issues!
Nice life lesson ! The school of hard knocks is not an easy one !!! I love what you are doing, in fact I would kill to do a project like that on the dime... no corners cut ! Too bad you're not closer to North Jersey ! I would love to see if there is a way to even out the clutch and brake pedals. I wonder what Cleetus McFarland's pedals look like ? Keep up the good work and keep the content coming... THERE IS A MARKET FOR WHAT YOU ARE DOING !!!!!!!!!!!
Daniel Weinbaum thanks man! I’ll be swapping this one soon, the clutch pedal I have feels really natural.. the guy who makes them really worked out all the kinks
Was it worth it? I just was on they was beside and was like damn adtr a little pricey. Since you’ve had their kit what’s your outtake on it? I’m on my 6th panther (08 crown vic, 300kmiles ) this will be my first panther that I lower, I don’t know how many inches but I would like to make car low as can but enough space case I drive over speed bump too fast I won’t lose my oil pan I saw a homie pan fall off cuz he hit bump too fast
Hey Vincent that was me that was chatting with you a while back in the comments about the Moogs in the rear possibly being loose or potentially falling out over a big bump. We did end up going with the Moogs and I concur with what you showed in this video. The might wiggle a tiny bit but they won't fall out. We thought about going with those brackets you used on the front but I had heard too much about them rubbing and even though we're running 18s I didn't want to chance it so we did the 1 coil cut. I've run cut springs before on other cars and they SUCKED but on a 2011 P7B they are down right pleasant and the Moogs do great out back. Thanks for the awesome video.
Just came across your channel you’re newer video intros are 🔥. Consider getting a crown Vic can you recommend a certain model. Thoughts on crown Vic Lx sport
Awesome video. I’ve been so curious how those brackets work. I’m dying to lower my 2010 MGM, but weary about cutting springs. Few questions: 1. Those adapters DON’T come with any of those bolts and whatnot you used, right? 2. Should I use any loctite on those short bolts? Seems like there’s not a whole lot to grab onto. 3. How’s the alignment after lowering? I know some people say you HAVE to get the camber bolts and such to get a proper alignment after lowering these.
BriansGarage they don’t come with any hardware or installation information.. for the small bolts on the side. Most important is the 3/4-10 tap. You can get bolts anywhere
So would you recommend doing this!? I recently purchased 2010 p71 and I absolutely love it just needs that right stance, did is settle down after driving
I have a 2009 P71 already on 18's. I need to replace struts/shocks anyway, would it be to my advantage to install a Performance version of a non-P71 strut? Isn't the civilian version a bit lower? I was thinking Moog rear springs with good shocks, non-P71 loaded struts up front and see where I end up height wise. Maybe add the strut lowering if needed... though that may put me TOO LOW up front?
I thought 17 inches were the stock rims. However I'm not sure if yours is a civi or P.I. My P.I. came with 17 inch stock rims and tires. Thanks for the video I'm looking to lower mine as well. I'm probably gonna do 18 in back 17 im front. Hopefully do exactly what you did to the rear.
So was a great video I almost tried this but I think what you said at the end changed my mind gonna do coilovers they go right on right? No home depot washers ??
I just finished doing this on my spec panther time trail car. Rules state that we have to run an OE damper and any OE spring (doesn't have to be off a panther, just any OE spring). I was running cut springs before but they started collapsing. I just installed a new set of OE springs and these drop brackets. They do come really close to the 19x11 wheels I'm running, so something else to consider. Next race is in a couple of weeks so we will be testing out the strength.
Hey, I appreciate this video and your experience. I'm switching my Grand Marquis rear suspension from air to coil and shock (or coilover). Now that you've had some time to try stuff out, what would you recommend to lower it and gain some performance on the track? Looking at going with 17 in wheels. I've seen ADTR RideTech coilovers for the front, but I haven't seen much for the rear.
There were definitely ways to make this work. I chose to make the video even though I didn’t keep the car like that. I ordered a nice cover system for the car right after this. This was a cheap option that I did not like.
I would say the whole job is worthless. I left these on the car for 1 day and orderd coilovers. To answer your question. No, not enough space to run the tap through. Removing the strut is easy enough. The “hub and everything” was not removing. I disconnected the control arm. Fairly simple
4 years late lol but did the drop brackets just ride horribly? I see you went to coils shortly after Looking to go this route but if it’s not daily quality I’m not doing it.
They did not ride any different than stock, it was the 17inch wheels that were the issue. When you turn the bottom of the strut rubs the wheels. With larger wheels they will probably be fine. You aren’t losing any travel so the ride is still good
What’s your opinion on using the 02-05 explorer rear springs on the front of the 03+ cars? Someone suggested it with these rears and I want to do it but also want someone else to pioneer it and provide a decent opinion first
Seth Andrew I wouldn’t. And honestly I took those plates off my car and put coilovers on. Unfortunately cutting the springs is probably your cheapest option, and apparently it doesn’t ride that bad.
@@neverendingcarproject I meant using the explorer springs to front instead of the plates or cutting springs. I want to say that they're Moog CC501's (the rears you used were CC80551, right?).
@@neverendingcarproject odd. It tells me the page isn't available. I even tried to just going to there page but had no luck finding them thank you anyways
Can the springs fit on a pre 2002 panther body and if not why I understand the shock setup is different but what happens if you leave the shocks without an additional spacer
@@neverendingcarproject my 97 pc vic was raised when i got it ran great, loved that car, just bought a 05 p71 last month it runs great as well, my mechanic said the engine looks like new & runs great love that car.
