Thanks for the video! Other important questions to ask alongside "is this a dream right now?": - Why do non-lucid dreamers have the near-unbreakable, hardcore assumption that they're awake all the time? - What's the only actual difference of your mental model during waking hours and your mental model during sleep? - Who are you in your non-lucid dreams, and why do you act in these ways when you're caught up in moments of autopilot? Anyway, get well soon!
Aside from lucid dreaming, I think the practise of untangling and questioning the now is a great skill to learn anyhow! I wish I was better at it, but the little I have put into practise has made a significant difference to my waking life (and those around me) - thanks to your teachings.
Absolutely aquacruisedb! It's incredibly interesting to watch the mind and see just how entangled it is most of the day. Humbling stuff. Stay lucid (and thank you for your kind words)
Man, you just blow my mind. Really, beside the fact that this could help me more to be a lucid dreamer, I like to understand thing in the deep way you do. No one among people talking about lucid dreams is understanding and explaining it as you do. Love your content so much.
My life recently has been filled with anxiety entanglement, ranging from time of certain small events to big decisions. It's been something where it's felt overwhelming and its hard to get moments of mental clarity when I find myself sinking into the worry. This, not surprisingly, has impacted my dreams quite a bit, to the point where the topics of what are causing that entanglement are becoming strong factors in dreams. When you asked about the last few hours, my immediate answer was "no, not a single moment." In between checking the time to see how close noon was (when your videos come out in my time zone), worrying about creative things that I want to do, and worrying about family pressures, I've had a very non-lucid morning. It's hard to step back and to ground myself before questioning the moment, but it is needed. I just did preform my first check of the day when I was able to somewhat detach from the net of entanglement. This video displays a very important message - not just for lucid dreaming but in general when the entanglement becomes overwhelming. Taking a step back and taking a moment of clarity is important. Thank you for the great video and wishing you a speedy recovery!
It's bonkers isn't it, we have the illusion of being more clear minded than we think, and delude ourselves that we prioritize lucid dreaming higher than we really do. The trick is to be brutally honest with yourself and to correct any errors you spot. And thank you Stumped, still very unwell, so I'll keep this reply short
You told me to get a cup of tea and get comfy. My teas still red hot. Had one sip during the entire video. I guess I will have to watch more of your videos while I drink it. Great video as always. Keep up the good work Daniel 👍
Super Excellent video! I really enjoy the nuance that you are able to bring to information that I might assume I’ve already thought about. What you say about being “open” to the outcome of a reality test really stuck this time. No matter how obvious my day seems to be going I’m going to apply this rigor. Actually excited about some new results. Get Well Soon!
I've had so many exams and work to do recently, as well as some other things in my life, that I haven't had time to reality check or write down my dreams. But when I think about it, I think the work that I've been doing is an excuse to not put in this effort. I've gotta get back onto this!
Subbed man. Iv been in to lucid dreaming for a while now, but with working 12 hour shifts and having 2 toddlers, its been harder to be consistant with dream journals and reality checks. I sometimes get lucky and randomly have a weird enough dream and realize im dreaming, but they arent as crazy as the ones i used to have. Hopefully your channel helps get me back on track! Cheers!
I've bin watching you for a while now maybe a year and even tho i already knew this because of your previous video's i still notice that this is a very good short video especially for beginners. I also wanted to say that youre my favorite and hand's down best lucid dreaming youtuber i stopped watching others when i discovered this channel keep it up👌🏻👌🏻😎
Hey Daniel, would you ever make a video on the VILD method, even though it's just WILD? The reason I ask is, you say we must be passive observers and keep as minimum amount of awareness as we can while drifting to sleep for a WILD, but how can that happen if people claim to visualize a full scene?
Possibly, it is something of a less effective version of Dream walker, but it probably does need it's own video at some point. I'll pop it on the to do list.
great video as always, and also, stay strong and be better soon, beeing sick is never fun. i hope you will recover very soon. thanks for the reminder of needing to be more present in the moment. As for now this Only happens when i'm drawing, then i'm realy in the Moment and fully concentrated. when writing and reading it can happen as well but i call that the Zone (or Flow State) wich happens also with Drawing but with Reading and Writing i need to open up my Daydreaming Mind for those purposes. but drawing something like still life or buildings i need hyperfocus (so i guess thats the only time i'm "Trying to" be the most In the Moment, but i never works the whole time through, but i strive to those moments because they make me feel alive). writing and reading is using my imagination and fantasy so i feel thats not "In the Moment" but even there, i need Hyperfocus on beeing present with my imagination, else i cant write or focus on reading.
I am two videos into your channel and wow... You're one of the best teachers out there. Anyways, I have recently gotten into both lucid dreaming and Tulpamancy, and while I now have a credible source for lucid dreams, that being you good sir, I haven't found someone who I should focus my research on for the latter, and right now my sources are from either Reddit or Quora. If you happen to know someone who is also into Tulpamancy and knows what they are talking about, I would like to be given directions. Thank you and have a nice day, sir.
Great video! I've been trying to use this to my advantage lately, I've been seeking out activities that are really distracting (like playing an exciting video game, or going around town doing some photography) to give myself more opportunities to have high emotions or high autopilot/entanglement/distraction, and trying to remember to reality check in those situations. Hoping this helps me! Last night I took some photos in a parking garage because I've had like 4-5 dreams with parking garage-like structures in the last month.
I’m definitely getting close. Last night I had a pretty vivid nightmare about being chased by Jeffrey dahmer, and I realized I was dreaming, so I started telling myself I was, but the dream faded out.
I am curious about something around 10 years ago, I Learned of a technique in my Psychology course known as THE DOOR / WINDOW Method, which states you need to visualize a door or window while sleeping and calm yourself, allowing yourself to fully relax but also to always keep that door, disregarding all the other swirling bits while your eyes are closed, or better yet keep a faint light ON Behind an actual closed door, it will act as a gateway to the dream world, while you are still conscious, once done you are able to lucid dream REGARDLESS Of having ANY PRIOR Experience or not, and IT WORKED, I was able to PERMANENTLY ERASE A Nightmare creature that had plagued me since I Was around 4 years old, THE PROBLEM IS I don't remember ONCE CRUCIAL STEP To doing this, I was wondering if you knew the answer? ANYWAYS LOVED THE VIDEO! THANKS FOR THE INFO! CHEERS! :D
thank you so much for the video! ⭐ (sé que esto no tiene mucho que ver con el contenido del canal ni del vídeo, pero me encanta su manera de hablar porque es súper clara e incluso podría decir que ayuda a aprender a pronunciar las palabras en inglés)
Still getting lucid almost daily. It wont stop lol. I have a remote now that lets me pause dreams and move around them. Last night I was playing god and leaving super powers for people to find. I kind of like doing this. I also lost 12lbs the first month on the diet.
Hey Daniel, are there any dangers to lucid dreaming? I believe dreams have meaning. Will having lucid dreams interfere with the messages they are trying to send me?
No, not really. The real dangers of lucid dreaming tend to be things surrounding lucid dreaming, they can be found here: www.thelucidguide.com/post/5-real-dangers-of-lucid-dreaming
ive found that in the bon tradition of Tibet, they believe that life is a dream and they remind themselves that they are dreaming throughout the day in order to induce lucidity during the night, whereas in western culture we question whether we're in a dream or not during the day to induce lucidity during the night. do you think that differentiation is important? or are they both equally valid ways to induce lucid dreams?
I practice the more tibetan approach. I am of the belief those who can practice mindfullness during the day for more extended periods of time, can probably have more stable and lucid dreams compared to the contrary
Thank you! I noted 3 of my dreams and I had a lucid dream last night! I said in my dream; This is a dream! And then, I wanted to fly! Then I started to flying around and it was soooooo fun! By the way, what happens if we eat in a lucid dream, do we taste it, or do we wake up?
well I gave a super thanks on a short. I checked today and it's gone. has anything arrived? I had 3 semi lucid dreams last night. there are better improvements now that I'm doing NOWS. unfortunately I can't enjoy the dreams yet because there is no mental clarity yet and scene shifting. my lociga and critical mindset is improving! I hope that soon I will be able to walk around in my dream world with ease and practice dream control as you always say: patience and keep training and don't worry :) I hope you are not sick anymore! And oh: 1 year VIP member
Hi Jim, firstly I can see a super thanks from you on the last short I uploaded, but without knowing if that's what you're talking about I can't be certain that's what you mean. Well done on the three semi lucid dreams, remember by most Discord user standards they'd be claiming omnilucidity with that 😂 Consider yourself doing very well, and you're right, patience and time are the key. And amazing, thanks for being supportive for a year, it means the world!
@@LucidDreamPortal yes, I also thought it existed the first few months. yes last short, I can't find it again. maybe it was me re-entering the lucid dream and counting that as a lucid dream
I managed to do it last night, woke up early this morning and was able to remember it but then I drifted off and now I can't remember what happened, all I know is that last night was a success.
Are you using the genuine MILD technique or the misinformation version that floats around out there? (the one that just tells you to repeat a mantra). This is the correct version: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YHk33m2xyKw.html
I've been using mild, but have experimented with fild and have mainly been watching your videos, sadly I've got nothing, but there were 3 close incidents, 1 I was doing mild and I had this weird feeling, I think it was me drifting off, 2 this one wasn't Long ago, I was doing fild and after 20 minuets or around there, I suddenly forgot where I was, this lasted maybe 2 or 3 seconds until I moved my body, was in a normal dream until I started saying "im in a dream, this isn't real" and I started flying and landed on a roof, then it ended, the thing is, I wasn't in my body, I was a fat blonde hair kid, and also, the dream didn't feel like real life, it was in 3rd person, and it was like a normal dream. @@LucidDreamPortal
If you've been doing it for less than 6 months, this is perfectly normal. This is a subject that takes a lot of trial and error, and time. Don't worry, it sounds like you're on the right track.
thanks, I was wondering if you could answer my question, every time I try to lucid dream, I always constantly swallow, even if I don't think about, and pretend im on a sunny beach, my brain just goes straight to thoughts about swallowing, and if I don't, then, I feel this pain, I know its not physical pain, but it still hurts, or something like that, its hard to explain, so I wanted to ask if swallowing could spoil trying to lucid dream? @@LucidDreamPortal
Hey Daniel, I have a question. Something that I real8zd is that when I wake up in the morning and try to go back to sleep,I have extremely vivid visuals, almost like a dream, but I was awake. I could move my hands and legs in the real world. What is this?
If beginners usually only start having lucid dreams right at the end of sleep when the prefrontal cortex wakes up, how do more experienced lucid dreamers have longer lucid dreams before that? Does the process of a N.O.W. wake up the prefrontal cortex?
Hi Shedox, firstly thanks for your kind support! That's a really multifaceted question, so I'll have to give you the simplified version (the long version would take several videos to explain). Think of it like building reflexes, when you first learn something like Karate, you'll get the hang of a few simple moves, and do them when the conditions are just right. But as you improve, things become second nature, and you're more attuned to cues. The same principle holds true with lucid dreaming. Beginners get things right under limited circumstances when the conditions are just right. The more experienced you become the more mentally agile you become, and are less reliant on specific conditions - and will catch the more subtle cues. I hope that makes some sense!
Another question! Is the goal to remember to question reality: 1. when I notice I'm at the peak of entanglement, as a reaction to being in peak entanglement, 2. when I have a brief moment of distraction *from* the entanglement and realize how entangled I was and my first thought should be to question reality, or 3. should the thought of questioning reality be in the back of my mind the whole time *instead* of getting entangled in something (like how if you're sick and your body hurts it's hard to forget that while going through your day). Or does the distinction not really matter?
Hi Shedox, thank you once again for your kind support. The answer is: YES. The less cryptical answer is: we really want to be doing all of those things, we'll never catch all the moments, nor would we want to as we'd be paralysed from operating in the world, as autopilot/entanglement isn't our enemy, but a useful practical function of the mind - it's just an inconvenience for our particular goals. Ideally you want to catch extreme entanglement moments as the end goal, but also to develop a sensitivity to those "in the back of the mind" at all times. But, these are ideals, not achievable reality, but aiming high puts us in the correct zone for success. I hope that helps.
Is it normal when lucid dreaming to also be aware of your sleeping body? That happens to me sometimes. My consciousness seems to be two places at once. I’m aware of my body and aware of me in the dream. And in the dream sometimes my eyes seem to try to close and I’m scared if I try to keep them open then I will open both sets and I don’t want to wake up from the lucid dream. Sometimes it unfortunately wakes me up bc I’m too aware of my body if that makes sense
That's not particularly common, but also not unheard of. I'd take a guess that you're a reasonably light sleeper, possibly more so than most. I've had multiple experiences like this, especially when I've had very long lucid dreams and they are nearing the end. It's very odd isn't it, that strange experience of being in two places at once!
@@LucidDreamPortal Thank u so much for your response. Yes I definitely feel on the brink of being awake. This tends to happen in the morning. It’s when I find I can become lucid. I’m using some of your techniques to become more consistent. Right now I’m more of a spontaneous lucid dreamer and I tend to get so excited when I do get lucid I feel I waste time in the dream trying to decided what I want to do. I’m not setting my intentions before bed and during wakeful periods at night. Love your videos. They are very informative. I found you through Charlie Marley’s book.
Can you give a tip to how to improve amwerness when in a lucid dream because last night I in my dream randomly realized I was dreaming without a reality check this happened twice and both times I was not conscious enough to control anything
Does lavender spray on pillow help lucid dreaming? it usually relaxes you and leads that means vivid dreams and vivid dreams could also open the door for lucid dreams.
There's no strong scientific evidence to suggest that it would help. Although many people find it relaxing so it can help to aid sleep. However, oils like this are not without risks and other possible side-effects. For example, there is some evidence to suggest that Lavender can mimic oestrogen and suppress male hormones. Generally it's considered harmless, but it's always best to talk to a trained medical professional before adding new chemical into your life.
Okei so I don't know what technique I tried but I actually regain awareness is a lucid state and I was kinda nervous and my head was vibrating it's kinda hurting and then when I realised that I'm in lucid state I tried to create the little dream simulation I did it I entered the it was like a video game like when we enter the game then I get excited and started running than emidately the dream break than I don't know how I re-entered the dream I saw a shop like a little restaurant I saw my father and mother as a dream character I know them but for some reason they didn't knew me and when I observed the environment around me I saw another restaurant but for some reason I my dream there was only 3 dream characters and the experience in a dream was like a clear for a second but it gets blurry and gets clear for a second I don't know why and also one more thing why is my head kinda hurting even right now it kinda hurts just a little if you actually read full comment I wanna about how can we clear our blurryness, how can we create dream character that we want in that real time ,how can we actually make the time long in a dream there is more but I can't right too much so yeah thanks for your hardwork it really helps I hope one day when i have enough money I will be one of your student in this subject thanks for everything I will be waiting for your next videos until then i will do some research myself in Google thanks and goodnight 🥷 😁
I usually have these dreams of having a lucid dream but I'm not actually aware, lacking clarity. I've been stuck at this kind of level of lucid dreaming for a while. How do you get true awareness?
This is generally a sign of not training yourself to take a little time to remind yourself of your situation at the start of the dream. What I call a "preflight check". Today's video will help, as 99% of the time it's due to being easily distracted or "entangled"
