I once sold a domain that I bought for $10 for $3000! I was contacted directly by entrepreneurs about to launch a business. Ask them to make an offer before you give a number. When they said $1000, I knew they were serious. I had been approached by others who wanted me to just give it to them or maybe $100. I countered with 5000, but let them know it was open for negotiation and we settled on 3000. Very exhilarating!
Wow, that's a great story. Very wise of you to ask for their offer and let the know you are open to negotiating on your counter offer. Thanks for sharing!
@@Jay-tu9vf I'd rather not disclose it, but it appears they are either out of business or no longer using the domain. It's for sale for $5500! Strangely enough, they always used it just to redirect. I had read an article about a new kind of attraction and the url for more info was one of those with tildes and so I registered the generic domain. Also, until recently I always kept my whois contact public. Spam is no longer a factor and I'd like to encourage people to contact me directly. However, my new host makes every listing private (free) so I will just have to put a note on the web page itself.
Hey how's it been going? I'm so interested in Domain flipping.... I just wish there were videos out there explaining the full reality of this... Like you may wait a really long time... Or you will have to spend actually way more money to advertise or something. I started out optimistic watching the videos.. But then the comment sections were kinda something else. I'm so keen to learn what the difference is between successful and not successful domain names.. I can see it being a great thing to get into but I suppose much more goes into it than I'm thinking.
Thank you so much for this info! Not sure how I stumbled on this but I’m happy I did. This info is all new to me. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge.
Hello Jonas, such a great tutorial. May i know how to transfer our domain to the buyers? if the buyers has a different registrar from the seller. for example if we, as a seller have a hostinger account and the buyer has godaddy account, is it just like get the EPP code and then give to the buyer or maybe we must have goddady account too, and then push the domain from our godaddy account to the seller's goddady account? Thank you for your attention
If you sell on your domain on a platform like GoDaddy Auctions/Premium or Sedo, they will take care of the transfer. But if you privately sell a domain and want to transfer a domain, I'd advise to contact your registrar and ask them how that would work in your scenario.
@@JonasNielsen thanks Jonas, really help. for now i am little bit confused, do i need to choose an expired domain or register new domain with catchy name, do you have suggestion? thanks
@@ranggakcs You just need to register a domain. Technically it doesnt matter if it's expired or "new". The thing about expired domains is that those are usually more valuable because a lot of the good ones are already registered. Luckily thousands and thousands of domains expire everyday, so that's where I would focus.
@@JonasNielsen thank you for that. If you had appraisal of $1,000 how much would you list it for? Do you so buy it now or auction? I you inspired me to get some domains this weekend now I have them listed but I listed at appraisal price. I think I need to lower it just not sure how much. Thanks so much for sharing!
@@Cajunventures According to godaddy most of the domains sold about its 60 percent of its appraisal price. Btw, I would like to know have you sold any up to now after this comment.
Which tools to use to create available domains names that will sell for $1000-3000 ? All the free tools on the web like looka, namelix etc, etc, not doing this. These tools add words to your name so it make sth edomain name longer, not shorter or as catchy branding memorable name who is worth to buy for $1000-3000. The last year I tried to sell a new registered domain on godaddy auction- no luck the godaddy auction looks empty, no traffic, no bids. Have a nice day to all here!
Great video. One question I had is about the domain being expired - you mentioned it a couple of times. Is the thinking behind the expiration that it is more valuable because the original owner may want to buy it back? In addition to the keyword value?
Looking for expired domains is simply an approach that helps you find great domains easier. Since expired domains have already previously been purchased indicates that there is some demand for those... hard to explain, but in short, it doesn't matter if it's expired or not, as long as you find a great domain that can be sold for higher than you purchased it.
Hi mate, Good info, however I bough the product PR RAGE already and after that I watched this video, missed your bonuses. So how does bidding work, can u elaborate on it ? What do you mean that we have to wait after buying the domain so that we sell it for even higher price ? Please explain in details and would you be able to train me in this domain business as I am a stone cold newbie in this !. Thanks a million!.
Yes I can help you. Please send me an email to jonas(at)marketingwithjonas.com and also try explain your question again, as I'm not sure what you mean. Bidding on buying or selling? Details please. Thanks!
@@JonasNielsen I have created all of the ones I own. Got a decent offer for one, but turned it down. 55 days. Since, I have created and purchased 135. They are mostly 17 days or less. I think I'm a genius.😊💪
im a bit unsure about this, when i buy a domain at godaddy for like 10kr, how do i recieve the domain? how do i give it someone else after selling it? how is that process working? both on godaddy and buying a domain from a private person, how is the trading actually done?
If buying and selling on GoDaddy, everything is automated and you don't have to worry about anything. If privately selling a domain. You would receive payment, ask the buyer to create a GoDaddy account, and from within that platform you can manually transfer a domain from one user to another.
@@carlijalla Yeah it's called premium listing like he said in the video. Or featured listing in Godaddy case. Its sure your name will be shown to a lot of people but it still doesn't mean they will buy it. You can check some names get numerous bids although they were seen by less than some others which didn't get any bid on featured list
Hi Jonas, It’s interesting video, I am starting the domain flipping, but I am asking of the software you mentioned “PR Rage” is it worth it to buy and depend on?
Very much worth it. Just the bonus interviews are so insightful for a beginner that this alone is worth it imo. The software itself is solid and I highly recommend it. You should get it brother.
Great! Please contact me on WhatsApp or FB. My WA is on the bonus access page. If you are not sure how to get there please send me email or FB and I will be happy to assist with OTO recommendation or anything else.
So you buy your domain for example on godaddy and you place it for sell, and you can also transfer your domain to different registers for more viewers? But how do you know people are seeing your domain. Do you half to do anything to get it infront of people.
Question > I have found very old domain on flippa like 15 years 18, or 20 years and bit was 1 Dollar or 5 dollars....I am still confused that very old domain in almost free.????
My uncle owned AIFlix.com and got $20K offer from GoDaddy auction right off the bat. He sat on the offer for a couple weeks, then privately sold it for $84K. Now the domain is being sold for $10M on Epik.com. #cray
Sir....should i make an email outreach and get a buyer who wants to buy directly without paying a commission as a buyer to any registry, can i hence de-list my domain on GoDaddy and make a deal without me paying commission to it other than any transfer fee if applicable? TIA
Just wondering, why would you send an advertisement of your domain to a business that already has their own website? Shouldn't you be looking for businesses that don't have a website yet?
The reason is that some business owners see an opportunity to grow their business with a better domain name. Some use it for advertising, and redirect to their existing website, and some will want to move it over. That said, business owners without a website is just as ideal if not more ideal to reach out to when selling a domain via reach out.
@@listen2qualityarticles287 My strategy is to find great domain names (not good, but great) in niches that I know would buy the domain. Then I just them as Premium on GoDaddy. My focus is on finding domains, if I find good ones, I know they will sell as Premium sooner or later. Just don't overprice it, make it a good deal too, slightly below the GoDaddy valuation.
are you sure we can sell the domain we just bought the next day? don't we have to wait for a few months before the domain could be moved to another name?
Hello sir, That was a good video but I'm a complete beginner. Would you please tell me 1 year registration for domain flipping is worth? or it depends upon my domain name because my budget is low worth of 10 dollars. Love from Pakistan! :)
Not sure what you're asking. The minimum you can register a domain is for 1 year, that's what you should go for too, no need to buy more years right away.
If you buy a domain on expired domains then when you buy that domain will it show up in WHOIS that the domain is only 1 day old or will it show how long that domain has been running for ?
I always considered paid subscriptions if they bring a lot of value - out of 10 how much do you recommend PR Rage? Does it put you ahead of the game? Cheers!
Absolutely. I love PR Rage. I could not find valueable domains in 5 minutes anywhere else, and the training / interviews that comes with the software really helped me a lot to get into domaining. 10/10
Dear Jonas, great video! How do I verify my godaddy domain for sedo? I dont understand the verification process. The id which sedo produces I paste in go daddy, but some other things (@, 3600) dont work... Kind regards, Eberhard
For most domains I recommend listing on GoDaddy/Afternic as a "Premium" domain. Also put a "For sale" lander on your domain (you can use GoDaddy's very easily) and so when people search your domain on GoDaddy or even go to your URL, they'll be able to see the price and either purchase it right away, or call a Afternic representative.

I want to ask you about that software I am visually challenged I am blind my name is Ishan Dhami from India I just want to do domain flipping so is that software accessible with screen reader and if it is not so where can I find some good websites who can help me to search a good domain
The platform that the domain is listed on will take care of the transfer so it happens automatically. I.e: If a domain is listed on GoDaddy's marketplace, the buyer will have the domain transfered to his GoDaddy account once the purchase is complete.
Hi Jonas. I have a domain set up for sale on GoDaddy. It's been there for more than 6 months. I've not received any offers yet. It's estimated value is 1533 USD, so what according to you has gone wrong in my case?? Thanks in advance.
5 letter common words are hard to find, but very valuable! If the word is more like a brand word then it can still be worth a ton, but depends on the name and if it's gonna be discovered by those looking for such name.
@@JonasNielsen Thanks for the response, I've recently bought some domains and listed them on sedo, afternic and godaddy auctions, have a look: Evavy.com Vquar.com Coinyer.com Crapar.com Greyot.com Systow.com
Thanks for sharing. The strategy you're going for here with these domains is kinda high risk high reward. If a company is set on one of these names, they'll buy your domain at a premium, but there are also probably not gonna get much eyeballs, so may be a long wait. I would add in some short term quick flip domains in your portfolio as well, like the location + niche formula.
Hi great video first of all. I Have a domain with a good valuation and wondered if it was worth creating a website for to boost the profits. any thoughts?
It will. Might take a bit longer though . Cuz it depend the age , backlinks , authority. So, if u want quick . U got sell it for less . But hey who knows , u might have a nice ,catchy names and u might sell it for high price and get lucky
Not at all. However, you can sell a website with a domain which has a significant amount of traffic already, maybe even with affiliate links f.ex. This is more like selling a business. You will have to disclose the earnings before the deal is sealed. A website does not add to the value of a domain, if its just for the sake of presentation.
Hallo, I have a question... In godaddy and sedo want take money if I want to sell there more from $5, also they want pay each month. I have 1 domain in godaddy, how can I sell? If you help me to beginig in this business domain I will give you % comisions. Kind Regards
I just started with domain flipping, could only sold one domain for $50 on godaddy premiums, domains that are listed for $100 are not sold yet. Do you recommend flippa? Also, have you tried Domain Elite software by Jamie Lewis?
Congrats on making a sale! I believe its more about the domain than the price, so you could probably have sold that $50 domain for $100 just as easily. Of course the more exposure your domain for sale gets, the higher chance of a purchase. Flippa is good to use if you can slap a quick website on it and list as a starter website/template. Haven't tried Jamie's product though.
It's Domainer Elite and it's BS. If you buy it, you can expect three upsells and the 3rd upsell is for $1000. You'd have better luck going to ExpiredDomains.net, closing your eyes and poking your finger at a domain name list and buying the one your finger landed on.
Jonas thanks for your great content! Any suggestions on directly contacting prospective buyers by email with a template? Are there any freelancers that perform this service that you know of? Any insight will be greatly appreciated.
I recommend hiring VAs from the Philipines because they're cheap and have good english. Simply post a job with a description of what you want them to do exactly. Good website for this is onlinejobs .ph
I don’t really understand if I pay for a domain name for a yearly fee of say 10$ and then sell it for say 1000$ does the person/company have to pay 1000$ a year to me or to the domain name provider I originally bought it from? Or is that a one off payment to me ? Do they carry on my payments to the original seller or do I carry on paying the 10$
You pay the domain registrar the yearly $10 fee, and yes the $1000 sale is a one-time transaction to whoever sold the domain (you ie.) - depending on where you list your domain for sale the website (GoDaddy, Sedo, etc) will take a small commission from the sale. Hope that makes sense.
@@JonasNielsen Right thanks, what do they then pay in subsequent years to renew the domain? Does that revert to the original renewal price of 10$ or whatever the renewal price changed to under the terms of the original 10$ sale? Isn’t there a massive danger that you are stuck with a load of domain names that you have paid for and continue to pay for each year if no one wants to buy them?
Yes, the renewal fee is always the same apprx. 10 bucks for dot com domains. As for a 'massive danger' to be stuck with a load of domain names that didn't sell in a year, sure, it's part of the game, but a certain percentage of your domains will sell and so when it's time to renew you can choose to renew or not renew. Part of the domain flipping game.
Ah, ok kind of makes sense now thanks, I suppose it’s a bit of a gamble, but I guess the application of intelligence and logic with a little research should hopefully yield results and the barrier for entry is very low if you were to start off with just say 10 domains. I’m also considering starting my own domain name company but initial costs and yearly license fees to ICANN seem prohibitively expensive! Thanks again for your advice 😀

@@JonasNielsen OOH! Hey, I found three domains that I think are good ones. Please give me your opinions and feedback, GD values them each above 1k and even 1.4-5k. Thanks!
No reason to be scared. I'd recommend getting the software I mention in the video and that will give you additional training too. I'm happy to help as well.
I like the video ) . I am a beginner. How do I legally buy a website (and sell) a website? What do I need to know if I want to start doing this knowing what i am doing?
Awesome Robert. Sounds like you want to flip websites... Do you mean getting a domain, putting a website on it, and then selling that website? I did a review of a product called WebSuitePro on my channel that are used for this exact purpose of building websites really fast and flipping them on Flippa or direct to local business owners. That video includes some training too if you're curious, I would start there. If you're more into just selling domain names, then this video is all you need to get started, and perhaps the advanced training and software that I recommend at the end if you're serious about that model.
