Thinking of getting a scroll saw but I'm looking at £150 as my budget what saw would you recommend please .I watched a couple of your videos and I liked the word cut outs so I subscribed.

Hi, Billy! Thanks for the sub! We may have different brands here in US, but to someone stateside I’d suggest a DeWalt :). It’s much cheaper than the Pegas, but can be altered if needed with a Pegas chuck head. I’ve never tried it to compare, but the WEN is one of the cheapest out there and I’ve heard it’s pretty decent. It’s a great hobby! 🙂

I don’t get how to do such tight corners, Negev I use my scroll saw I see how the blade bends with the wood instead of staying still. And when I tighten it. It breaks.

When I get to corner, I told the wood still in place so it’s no long cutting, then shift the wood until the blade is pointing in the correct new direction. If it’s not letting you bend, it could be a problem with the tension or a wrong blade. You can try just backing out your blade and approaching the corner from both sides to get a cleaner corner cut!

Hmmm, no, not usually. Was it a giant word? If not, it’s not a good quality blade or perhaps too small. My personal favorite is a #5 modified geometry blade from Pegas. Sorry it pooped out on you quickly!

Hi! If you’re new to scrolled words, I recommend 1/4”- 1/2” MDF. It’s both consistent and strong and more affordable these days :). Good luck!

@@sadiegros964 hi, Sadie! You can find 2’x4’ sheets at Lowe’s and Home Depot by the plywood…I do often, but you have to be mindful of quality. I feel like sometimes it’s good and sometimes it’s not. The smoother the better. Any local lumber companies should carry it too 🙂.

I'm surprised that you did not mention Photoshop. There now more than 30 million people with paid for subscriptions and goodness knows how many using pirate versions. With an app like Photoshop you can create any shape you like, and 'poster' print onto as many A$ sheets as required. Of course, you would need to keep the size manageable, but if you will be gluing to a backing board, the project can have multiple pieces.
