You should add a cloth to your pool table. It will roll a lot better, and you should also add a ramp to the slid that you just cut to make a ball returning system
I know because i have a pool table that i made but it's bigger and i also use cloth for the surface and i also use the real pool ball and also don't use a cloth that is too thick or else it will create a lot a friction and it will not roll very well
Update on my pool table. Now i have put some floormat foam for the cusion, and i have change the look of it, and i have cut the slid for my pool table for a ball returning system (before that i use nets), and i have bought real pool cue and ball rack (the size of my ball is 38mm)

yes, rice can substitute for glue marbles can be replaced with spherical fruits or dried clay can be played a stick you can replace with a pen or something similar good luck ! 💖
