How to Make 8 bit Pixel Art in Adobe Illustrator

Hei! Not all squares will be 10x10px if you use 50 x50 dividers. There is one too many dividers to create 10x10px perfectly and consistently in the grid. I found that when i was going to reuse icons i made with this technique that they never aligned perfectly together: this really bothered me because i wanted every square to be 10pxX10px like you say here - but they just weren't adding up. After expanding and ungrouping x2 some squares were 9x10 or 10x9 and some 10x10. It was really annoying... but i figured out that when you make a rectangular grid, you only need 49 dividers inside the square of 500px. So making one extra dividing line kept throwing it off. (and i set the grid to Align to pixel grid also before live painting) so, if you're going to make a lot of icons for example and maybe want to put some together or layer different icons with backgrounds, you need all your files to snap to pixel perfection and line up together (especially if a client asks you to change some parts of them after expanding) - then check you have always one less divider than the total number of squares wanted in the grid. Hope this helps anyone who encountered the same problem.

Creating a swatch group with your colors would let you choose colors with the arrow keys in the live paint tool instead of going for the eyedropper each time.

Unfortunately, I could not follow the tutorial and the Adobe Illustrator wouldn't do as was shown. Probably on my end since I used the trial to try it out. Maybe I can't use all the tools.

the internal lines of my drawing are white. even though the strokes are transparent, white lines still appear between the squares. any suggestions to remove them?

I guess I misunderstood the brief. I thought that you were going to show us how to create a pixellated effect of a non-pixellated object and not create a pixellated object from an already pixellated object. I don't get it.

when I save my artwork I can see the remaining lines, is there a way to get rid of the lines in the artwork?
